Still funny to think about Apple removing FireWire by forcing another standard even though it's working fine while Nvidia actively encourages AIBs to use 12VHPWR even though there's literally Fire coming on the Wire.

Dumb fact: Tom Hanks really did sit there the whole day trying to start a fire with caveman methods. They wanted him to give genuine excitement.

but does it bother anyone else... that people on this sub consider themselfs the "PC Guru's"
Yet they don't even know that Firewire 1995 refers to IEEE 1394-1995 which was later renamed to Firewire 400....
Fire wire didn't exist in 1995. USB was only a concept.
I know its silly but people gotta stop up voting human slop.

A good percentage of people here were either not born or did not have a consciousness formed yet in 1995. Also I never got the impression people here thought they were PC gurus.

I was generalizing for the sake of being cheeky, but you’re absolutely correct on the facts around the IEEE standard.
I guess it’s better that it’s human slop versus AI slop. Maybe?

not sure if serious. The top one is actually https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/FireWire and the bottom one is nVidia's burning power connector https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#16-Pin_(max._600_W)_12VHPWR_12VHPWR) whose wires tend to set themselves on fire. Hence the play on words.

And still some people dont understand electricity. I'm on my 7th 12vhp connector and still winning. Yes it's a poorly designed standard, but yet have i had an issue. This is clearly an issue but failed builders need to be held accountable. The AIB isn't responsible for your f*up.

I've never had a single gpu fail on me. AGP til now. As I said, I hate the current connector, but at some point people need to realize they are 99% of the problem. I tell friends (that I am physically able to help) that pcs are adult Legos. I dont say the same in the echo chamber of fail that is the internet.
