I think it's more just that cloud streaming is costing them way more than it's bringing in and that would only get worse moving forward. Hardware prices have gone crazy and they still need hardware to run those systems people use during streaming. All while every scrap of hardware is being bought up by every company for AI. Then there's the need to buy hardware for next Gen console production AND the fact that a new Gen of consoles would mean they need to upgrade the cloud gaming systems if they want to support any new games.

I’m with you on the schedule, but I pay too much attention to looting, exploration, and mastering the combat in this time. I later find out that I’m 30 hours in and I haven’t even put a dent into the story because I always fear that I’m underpowered. I then get way too bogged down or I lose interest and then go to the next. I’m looking at you, Fallout 4, any assassins creed game, and No Man’s Sky.

That’s super fair. I love the linear, bumper style games for that aspect. The game I just started is the Blood of the Dawnwalker. It is scary with the time sensitivity, but I like it because it is open world, yet limiting, if that makes sense.

The story, if it is grabbing and holding my attention, will be consumed so dang fast. There’s not many games that do that, but when you find one, it’s game over.

15 hours a month is criminal. They are underestimating and pigeonholing their consumers from using their product. Well, it is also them being greedy as hell with a product that they know is good for the consumer and are now cashing in.

I am glad I swapped to PC and focused in on the Steam ecosystem to further push away from Xbox. They have been laughable more often lately.

Honestly it's super affordable. A device that can play PS2/N64 games is like 250 bucks. Add in a bit more for a large quality SD card and you're able to access 20 years of high quality games from a single device. The cost of living and the need for essentials like food, phone, electricity, etc seem to make having a hobby like gaming unaffordable in the future for most people. I've already got a ton of steam and epic games from giveaways, and I don't have the interest or time to play. Between taking care of my family and working 50+ hours a week, I've played Pokémon Go passively.

The bleak news between the cost of hardware, xbox and Sony's company decisions, and the price of hardware going up for the 3 big consoles, including pc hardware will make people abandon this hobby all together for mobile gaming or something else. I've played video games for over 40 years and I'm mentally exhausted. I've already given a bunch of Xbox games to my daughter's friend. I plan to back into reading more books and watch more television again.

I dropped using xcloud simply because I didn't like my gaming habits. Amusingly, I was constantly picking up and dropping games and valued none of those games. I finished only two in my six months of playing xcloud on the side, as a 'next gen console replacement'. But, I liked the whole endless play and no install. I really enjoyed not having ANOTHER electronic box taking up space. The quality was fine for me. I even was able to cross play online co-op with IRL buddies. It can work. For me, it DID work.

Way to kill it dead. Just cancel it, xbox. Its over. People are going to leave the hobby rather than go for this. 10 minute idle timeouts drove me insane and were part of why I got rid of it. Fucking have to watch the clock while gaming? Why even fucking pick up the controller? People play games to NOT look at the clock.

I honestly was surprised and unaware that anyone actually uses the Cloud Gaming feature. I don't know anyone personally who does, and most of my friends are Xbox gamers.

This is the end of premium for me and will spend more time with my PS portal.  I use cloud gaming while my daughter is in her skate sessions and 15 hours is next to nothing for the amount of time I spend at the rink.
