I own a Malamute and had 2 Huskies before her, there is hair in and on everything you own, I spit out so much dog hair throughout the day, people think I have a speech impediment. You go through a lot of hoovers, sometimes I am sure I can hear my hoover saying ..'Oh fur f23k sakes, not again when I switch it on. My hoover.......

Mine passed away 3 years ago. I've moved 1000km away. I'm still finding fuzz. I'd give my left leg to have the source of all that back though. She was perfect.

I am so sorry to you for your loss, they are a remarkable breed who find their way into our hearts like their fur finds it's way into our food, and if you are lucky enough to have a great connection, then it's the best love in the world, as i'm sure you would agree. I hope you are doing okay now. My girl is getting on, she is 9 and a half now with a few health issues. There is not a day that goes by that I don't smother her in kisses, I make sure she knows she is loved while she is here with me.
I totally believe you when you say you are still finding fuzz. My neighbours have told me they find Blues hair in their hallways as they walk it in on their shoes from the stairwell. I share a building with 8 other flats, everyone gets a bit of Blue.

It’s been a year and I miss my old buddy everyday. I still find his hair on my stuff in the most random ways. He’s been everywhere I have even when he wasn’t with me 😢

I miss my big girl - when she blew her coat I could get a pile of fur the same size as her by the time the brushing was done.

So you probably don't have answer to this, but why don't people spin yarn out of the fur they comb off and make things out of it? I'm sure it's not the best fur for yarn but if it's free or cheap, you'd think someone would find a way to make it work.
I 3D print and I've seen people buy buckets of trash plastic for melting down. If people are willing to buy that I can't see why someone would put out ads like "looking for dog fur".

Well Malamutes and Huskies have 2 coats, bottom coat which is very fine soft hair and the top coat which is more coarse. The undercoat is for very cold climates , which these breeds are suited for. The undercoat is very soft and has a very similar feel to cotton, it is so soft and when hand spun, it makes a very strong yarn. There are people who use the fur of these breeds to make all sorts of things. You can find videos on Youtube of people hand spinning the undercoat of these breeds to make yarn.

A few important reasons. Most individuals aren't willing to put so much time into that when clothing is so cheap. You can't farm a huge number of dogs the way you can sheep so this is all done in small batches which increases the cost. So dog fur is more expensive than wool, cotton, and synthetics. Other fibers from animals like wool and silk have longer staple lengths (the length of the fibers) which make them easier to spin, stronger, and softer. It's more akin to angora wool (from the angora rabbit) in staple length but isn't as soft. So yeah some people use dog hair to make things, but more for novelty than practicality. Sure the fur is free but it takes a ton of time to process it for a subpar product

The husky in the video doesn't even make any complaints known about it. My dad is always pulling tufts of fur off his husky and the dog makes the funniest noises the entire time. I unmuted the video fully expecting to get a chuckle out of the husky trash talk, but nothing. Disappointing.

Our Husky mix is actually very quiet as well but loves to "talk" when she gets excited or impatient. We also did a lot of training with her while she was young so she knows what noises are appropriate for inside versus outside.

Is that what’s happening? All of my dogs are shedding their fur in chunks. I brushed the fluffiest and a bucket of hair came out. I don’t remember this happening at the end of summer but I guess it makes sense that it happens twice a year. My floors are covered in dust bunnies. I have multiple vacuums and they’re constantly full.

Depends on your dog. Usually double coated breeds will shed year round, but will go into overdrive in months that have big temperature shifts to produce a coat more appropriate for the season. My Aussie needs brushed almost every other day. But in the months leading to summer and winter you could stuff a king sized pillow with his shed at the end of every day.

It’s picking season! My blonde German Shepherd mix sheds year round but it really ramps up at least twice a year. Plucking out the tufts is one of my favorite things to do. It’s so satisfying, even if he only lets me do it for a few minutes at a time.

I think the hair is running things. Its mission is to spread itself to every surface, down every drain, into the sky, out to space, take over the universe. We are but its growth medium.

My golden retriever loves it when I do that. She also really likes being brushed. I’ve never had a dog enjoy being brushed (hair taken off on purpose) as much as her.

My son had a dog (we have no idea what breed he was) whose whole back side would puff up with tufts like that when he got scared. His fur would be normal and suddenly was a huge puff ball. It was oddly satisfying to pull the tufts out.
