I am a very new mod and creator of a subreddit and I am confused on how to do most things

How do i disable crossposting.

Android.

I'm the sole mod for a small community that is vulnerable to bots and bad actors. I inherited it from its creator so it wouldn't go abandoned and am relatively new to all this.

Using Android official app and desktop.

I added the Read The Rules app to help filter offensive things from reaching the general populace. Since I'm alone and can only monitor during certain times i can't always respond right away.

It's been working well since bots and the ill-intentioned can't or won't bother to take the extra steps. The posts are removed automatically and i can take additional steps later when i have time.

The problem is that despite a pinned post at the top of the sub, legitimate users who don't pay attention are having their stuff taken down too. Only a few take the time to read the removal message instructing them how to fix it. So a bunch of things that would be great to have up are getting lost (or manually approved by me later) and some members are complaining that they're tired of getting notifications of new posts only to find them removed.

Recently i tried creating an automated action so that anyone posting would receive a notice/reminder that they need to acknowledge the rules first or their stuff will be taken down. Not knowing how else to approach it i set it up so any title/post that does not contain "a specific odd convoluted word unlikely to ever appear naturally" will get a pop up message.

It worked great in the preview test for me and as far as i know everything is set up correctly but it does not seem to be working irl.

Any advice on how to create such a notification effectively? I'm open to either fixing this auto action or utilizing some other means I'm not currently aware of.

Or is there a better way to handle this altogether?

All three on the same post. It's not unique to this post either, my sub is plagued with bot accounts that are using LLMs to try and farm karma. Has anyone encountered this, or have any idea how I can possibly combat these aside from playing whack-a-mole?

How do I stop reddit's system from removing posts in my sub that I have already approved and don't break any rules. I don't understand why this is happening, but it is and I keep having to look through removed posts to reapprove the posts that reddit took down. desktop.

Hi everyone

The app's mod account (dejarepost) shows "no permissions" in the modteam list. Every attempt to edit its permissions or remove it from the modteam fails with "something went wrong."

I've already uninstalled the app from the subreddit, but the mod account persists anyway. Tried from old.reddit, new Reddit, and mobile; same "something went wrong" on all of them.

I've uninstalled and re-installed several times already as well, it did not fix the issue.

This also appears to be breaking the app at runtime: reddit.getPostById() on a just-submitted post throws Error: no post <id> in the onPostSubmit handler, 100% of the time. I believe it's because the app account has no mod permissions and can't read a post that isn't public yet. Started recently; the handler worked previously.

Any way to reset the app's mod account, or does this need an admin to force-remove it?

I have asked these two questions in similar mod support 'subs', and while I have received some info related to my questions, I have been advised to search and check further 'subs' to get clarification / confirmation to my questions. Here are my two questions;

1. I have been advised that if I set up a community under 'restricted' mode, that via the settings I can post as the creator and allow followers to comments on my posts, but not have followers be able to post themselves. Is that correct?

For context this is what I want to achieve, to not allow followers be able to post, but they can comment on post that I create.

1. Can I under a 'restricted' mode community not reply (and do minimal moderation if any) to any followers request, or better still can I select an option in settings so that followers simply cannot contact me.

For context the community that I plan to create would be purely for entertainment purposes (for this example, think regularly posting memes daily on a certain topic). So If I am the only one posting, and I'm happy to have comments on my posts, as far as I am concerned there should little need (at least from my required perspective) for any real moderation requirements.

Essentially, I would be looking for this sub to be 'akin' to a 'Facebook Page', whereby I can post and people can comment, and that's about it (being that I have other work to do, I'm concerned I am otherwise going to end up having to spend many hours each day moderating a community if it got quite large in size etc).

(Desktop) So I tried inviting someone to be a moderator but received the message 'Something went wrong: Undefined' when doing so, I even attempted to go on an incognito tab to see if it was something wrong with the cookies, but I still received the same error.

What could be causing the issue?

Even when I approve them they don't come through and the person gets banned. I use IOS.
The person was able to post for months and all of a sudden one day they were banned.

How do I white list a user using a desktop? I have this user in my subreddit with an abysmal karma score. But he doesn't violate Reddit's TOS, and he doesn't violate the subreddit's rules; he seems like a very nice guy, but his karma score is yikes.

Is there a way that I can use Automod to automatically approve of his posts? I tried to click "approve user," to no avail.

I've run into this bug twice in the past year: I approve a post, but checking later it shows up that I deleted it. The the post log and mod/subname/log both double entry the time I approve the post, and there's no log entry of me ever deleting the post or the post getting flagged by reddit or users.

When I restore the post the log records an "ignore reports" entry and an "approved" entry, not doubled up.

Other "approved post" entries occasionally show up as double-logged minus the deleting posts part of the bug. As far as I can tell, I'm not seeing this double-up entry on any of the other mods' actions.

I mod a handful of subreddits. I just noticed that for one of them, the option to enable Reputation Filter for comments is not available--using neither sh. nor www . It doesn't even appear.

I am able to configure post filtering but not comments, while in other subreddits I am given both options.

Why might this be happening?

I set up mod recruitment for my sub and turned on the "recruit new mods" toggle in mod tools, but the form is not showing up. Like if I open the link while logged into a different Reddit account the page says "You can’t apply to moderate this community right now." What gives?

I'm considering setting up a spin-off sub of sorts from one I'm active in, based on community demand. Unfortunately, despite being wholly SFW our hobby is a fairly common kink/fetish and there is a big problem with creepy unsolicited photo requests and sexual comments in DMs following activity in this kind of sub. Because I've been active in this space for a while so have had my fair share of bad experiences, and because word gets around in comment threads, I have a list of accounts I have blocked for this reason.

Is there any rule that wouldn't let me publish this list to the new sub's wiki so that people may pre-emptively prevent these people from seeing their pictures and DMing them? Or any other suggestions on how to manage this, aside from ban whackamole as they make themselves known publically (which would still allow them to see the content, too)

We are mostly women with a fair sized under 18 audience too and I feel like I have a duty of care to warn people when I have concrete evidence of strange behaviour. A lot of these accounts have already been flagged/outed in comment sections in other subs but there's no centralised system for recording them, so they get access to new people joining every day.

Honestly, we are at our wits' end and really need some human eyes on this.

Ever since May, our mod team has been stuck in an endless loop of automated shadowbans and suspensions. It feels like every time we make a routine post or try to manage our subreddit, an automated filter triggers and locks another account.

We’ve been sending appeals through the official forms every couple of weeks for months now, but we haven't received a single reply or explanation.

It’s getting impossible to run the community like this. We spent years building up trust and legitimate karma on our original accounts, and now they are all practically unusable:

Trying to moderate an active community with brand-new, disposable accounts just doesn't work — new accounts have zero credibility with users and immediately get flagged by the system anyway. It’s genuinely exhausting, and we just want to know what’s going on so we can fix it.

We always aim to follow Reddit’s content policies 100%. Could someone on the admin team please manually check these accounts, let us know what’s triggering the filters, and help us restore our original profiles so we can get back to normal moderation?

Android as a moderator are there any features that I can use to lift the ban report from one of the other mods? There was a situation where someone in my sub where I mod was falsefully flagged for ban evasion and banned from the entire site? i am wondering if I as the mod of the sub do anything to help them.If they did it or not is a different matter anything to get them a word with Reddit is what I am asking.
