ಠ_ಠ Received these bad parking notes on my 1st and 2nd day at a new apartment

I was confused about the first note, because stall 92 had something other than a pickup in it the first day (the notes are from 92). I parked pretty much identical the 2nd day (when I got the other 2 notes), which is shown in the picture. My bumper is against the wall. I just emailed management and told them to move me to a different spot

Full-size trucks are so big now, anyone buying them needs to just accept that they are not going to fit in a lot of places well. This is why I bought a mid-size truck. I probably do far more "truck stuff" than most full-size truck owners, people just think they need the biggest vehicle on the road then bitch and blame someone else when their decision becomes their own inconvenience.

I’m so bummed that the new rangers are so big! The 3 seaters were adorable 😆

“Compact” trucks are no longer a thing, because apparently bigger is better.

Cafe standards is the main culprit. Manufacturers convincing consumers to buy the larger more expensive vehicles is just a side effect that benefits the manufacturers.

How is it the fault of cafe standards? People have always wanted bigger trucks...the old ranger didn't sell because it was small, it sold because it was cheap

In short, CAFE means a fuel efficiency target is determined by vehicle footprint. So you can take a small footprint and make a more fuel efficient car, or you can take a gas guzzling fuel efficiency and make the footprint larger.

I borrowed my dad's truck to help a friend at an apartment complex and had to squeeze into a spot backwards to guide off mirrors. The spot was so tight I had maybe 2 inches on either side of the lines. I could barely get in and out and had to open my door with my fingers between me and the other vehicle to not hit them and squeeze out.

Sucks but like, some apartment complexes really do a lot to fit one more spot they can rent out.

Learn to back in and guide yourself via mirrors.

Yea, then you have places like Costco parking lots that feel purpose built for trucks. At the end of the day, if the person parked next to you is between their lines, they really aren't the problem (unless they are all the way against the line, screw those guys).

Costco is 10ft wide. Standards have usually been from 7-5 to 9ft, and have gotten bigger but used to be smaller. They have abnormally giant parking spots.

Actually it’s the town/city/county that determines the least amount of parking you need to have and the smallest size of the spots. If they are too small they have to restripe the entire parking area. Then they come back to make sure the spots are the right size then they count them. If they are short then the lot has to have satellite parking or they give up guest parking on the lot because usually they’re not required. This is why hen you visit friends the neighbors get upset when they can’t park in their spot because visitors are in it. The lot/deck issue is always a problem the inspectors usually suggest the spot with the obstructions should be for smaller cars or for maintenance items like trash cans. It’s up to the owner to decide.

This is conspiratorial silliness. An F-150 is about 10 inches wider than a Toyota Corolla, and the standard parking space in the US is 8.5' wide. No apartment building is asking the line painters to shrink a parking space to the point where a compact car would struggle to fit just for the sake of an extra $100/mo in parking fees.

There's no country or statewide standard for parking spaces and their complex is old. They can easily be non-conforming due to age.

Especially the ones that drive around with their class V extra clearance 3 ball hitch and their tow mirrors fully extended 24/7, then park in the front row of the parking lot with 3 ft of space between their front bumper and the line.

and some people need it for work, and can't afford a second vehicle. what should truck-person do when the apt parking spots are too narrow for him to easily exit his vehicle without risking dinging his neighbors cars? maybe he's already gone rounds with management over the issue and found no alternative and genuinely wishes to work things out with OP for the best no-win situation?

I get that, but it doesn't change the fact that if OP is parked in their spot properly then they are not the problem. OP shouldn't have to work anything out, it is the truck drivers problem. OP didn't design the parking lot.

that's really true! I didn't mean to imply OP HAD to, but to show up on the internet acting all offended is odd. However, the note was implying some blame so their tactic was lacking. We also don't even know if OP parked well the other days lol. But if they did, they could leave a gentle note back with a reason why they refuse the request. And if they don't have a reason other than "idgaf about your problems" then OP ain't it either

yea, we don't know but I feel like you have to really suck at parking to park a Yaris poorly lol. Definitely a scenario exists where the notes make sense, just not sure if its this one or not.

exactly! everyone is SO adamant that 92 is some big-balls biligerant truck owner in this thread and they can't imagine any scenarios to give this guy any grace. Is this hive mind at work? I usually defend reddit as being less hive-mindy than other social medias but this is feeling mob-mentality
