Just played Survivor again. Exploration is loads better. Enough that I have a hard time going back to Fallen Order, even though the story is so much better.
It’s definitely this for me. I was really engaged with the promise of a low stakes, old school adventure (what a change of pace!) the second game makes but I can’t remember when I was this disappointed by writing of the last act/ending.
It’s so solid up until then, too, and the gameplay and the atmosphere are perfect. Then in comes the fumble, ridiculously stupid character motivations and contrived writing, which is such a severe drop of quality it really spoils the whole experience. And I don’t even mind the stupid twist (which is clearly where the writer started working the script); it’s how everyone reacts to it and how they have the audacity to be so self-aware about it, too, that really gets on my nerves.
It’s such a shame! I generally don’t like Star Wars but the first one won me over and I love the idea of the second game to bits.
