May be a little controversial, but I would also say borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel.

I absolutely love the low gravity and Lazer weapons. Then again, the story is also awesome.

BLASPHEMY.

On a more serious note. Borderlands 2 and the PS are realistically 2 sides of the same coin. They work perfectly together. They both have amazing stories, they both have practically the same gameplay, with a few gimmick differences that are mostly tuned to their respective environments.

Borderlands 2 is the pinnacle of the franchise though. Nothing would ever top that game. The PS is the only one that got close.

I liked the pre sequel but never finished because I started a co op run with my sister and we didn't get to the end. I think we got stuck on a boss or a rough area at some point.

Err I think this one doesn't fit because the story in bl is dog compared to 2, and same when comparing 2 to 3. 3 just had so much build on stuff the had stronger plot through lines and reveals. 2 felt like a subversion of 1, and I'd agree that Jack is the better antagonist, but that's it
