PSA PSA before posting ICE Sightings in Long Beach

1.4k Upvotes

In the Army we used a method called "SALUTE Report" to provide a detailed description of opposing forces, which is applicable to ICE sightings. SALUTE is an acronym for SIZE, ACTIVY, LOCATION, UNIFROM, TIME, and EQUIPMENT. Below I will include a summary of what a SALUTE Report entails and the type of information that will be helpful when posting ICE sightings in Long Beach.

SIZE: This component focuses on quantifying the number of individuals, vehicles, or assets present in the observed area.

ACTIVITY: Describing the actions and behavior of the observed entity, the activity component sheds light on the intentions and purpose behind the observed actions.

LOCATION: Providing precise geographical coordinates or a detailed description of the observed target’s location, this component offers the spatial context necessary for effective decision-making.

UNIFORM: Identifying the affiliation or group to which the observed target belongs, the unit component allows intelligence professionals to categorize and contextualize the observed entities.

TIME: Recording the date and time of the observation, the time component adds a temporal dimension to the intelligence gathered.

EQUIPMENT: Listing the equipment, weaponry, or tools associated with the observed entity, the equipment component offers insights into the capabilities and potential threats posed by the target

Hi all! I am a 29F who just moved to Long Beach from the Bay Area. I’m looking for a queer community as I don’t know many people out here. I love EDM/house music, love to hike, going out to new restaurants, do art, cook, and read. Hit me up if you would like to connect and hangout.

Live in Belmont Shore and yesterday this little bean got out without his GPS tracker. I haven't seen him in over 24 hours and I am obviously very worried. If anytime has seen him or if you happened to pick him up thinking he was stray, please lmk. He is microchipped and neutered.

Discussion Anyone have their roof done recently? How much did it cost you?

We have a home just under 1100 sq ft and the roof estimate we got is wayyyy more than anticipated 😭
I understand there are different levels of roof repairs but we got a quote for couple things, new roof, new siding and maybe new exterior paint? It was a little unclear and the estimate was near 80k. We are waiting on another estimate but that seems like such a large amount, I’m just curious to see if anyone who has had their home redone recently can attest to the fact that that shit is just expensive as heck haha

ETA: the cost of all repairs is 80k guys! Not just the roof haha. Looks like the roof is around $30,500. Paint is also about 25k? Which seems like a lot 🙃 it’s an old house, yes, lol and we are getting other quotes but I was just curious about what others are paying

I know there’s a few places around here where you can sell secondhand clothing, but I also know a lot of them lowball you. I have cute, vintage and name brand clothes that I just don’t wear anymore that I’m hoping I can get some money out of…..so what places pay the best for second hand clothing?

Community George Couston of Signocology and now is a LB land(scum)lord is a RACIST BIGOT

Hi, just posting to notify my neighbors here in Long Beach. George Couston (owner of Signocology) is a racist, transphobic, homophobic, and just general POS.

You can browse his behavior on his public instagram (username rayzngainz562)

He’s begun renting out homes and apartments that he has flipped but I want to forewarn anybody who might be googling him or are considering renting with him. I can’t speak to his landlording but he is an attempted personal trainer and has a business doing signwork where in his reviews, has been noted to be a professional asshole. I have personal experiences with him but at this point this is something I have to share to my neighbors for safety and awareness. I can’t find the screenshot but he has shared publicly his lack of desire to rent to specific groups of people based on socioeconomic status.

Between the jokes of bringing handguns to schools, racist memes, and bragging about being an equal opportunity racist, my belief is that everyone should make educated decisions. If you want to rent from this dude, go ahead. Just wanted to make it known where he stands.

There’s plenty more screenshots that I have, but I don’t need to overwhelm for the sake of being redundant. You can search him up and take a gander

Stay safe Long Beach

Questions Anyone have to deal with Ring/Surveillance Cameras put up by neighbors in your apartment complex? What did you do about it, if anything?

edit: JFC! Some of the toxic ignorant responses here! I shouldn't have discouraged the ignorant boomers from researching the matter. So here it is!

Tenant Law Group:

Can My Landlord Tell Me I Cannot Have a Ring Camera?

A Real-Life Dilemma: You just moved into a bustling apartment complex in California. After noticing an uptick in package thefts, you install a Ring camera to monitor your front door. A week later, your landlord sends you an email claiming the camera violates building rules and demands you remove it. You’re frustrated—aren’t you allowed to protect your home? The answer lies in California tenant law. What the Law Says:

California Penal Code § 632: Prohibits recording audio or video in private spaces without consent. Cameras must be positioned to avoid capturing common areas like hallways, mailrooms, or neighbors’ doors.

So can we stop debating the objectionability of the cameras monitoring essentially the entire complex?

[Original Post:]

Before you send me your wholly original (but really Google'd) advice re: two-party recording legality, invasions of privacy, and expectations of privacy, let me stop you there and just put it down below:

  • California is a two-party consent state, where every person in a presumably-confidential conversation only involving the parties in question, must consent to that conversation being recorded involved or uninvolved party, or the recorder can face criminal and civil liability.
  • A general expectation of privacy exists within the confines of your home, and people may not point cameras in a way that makes recording the interior of your home a primary subject of any camera's view. [For example, you can put a camera on your front door facing the house across the street, and sometimes pick up movement from their front door, but their door/window/etc can't be the purpose of the camera's placement and/or feature prominently in the camera's view. Conversely, in an apartment complex, you can't place a camera on your front door if its view looks directly into the unit across from you, even if that's not your intention of the camera's primary purpose.]
  • A less-absolute but still general expectation of privacy exists in closed-access areas, like courtyards, laundry rooms, gyms, etc. Especially as it concerns audio recordings.

I have a new neighbor at the end of the main entry walkway, in a small, gated apartment complex, who recently installed a Ring camera and purposefully angled it not to face outward from their door, to simply interact with people in front of said door, but up the walkway itself, capturing the comings and goings of anyone who enters the complex itself.

This rubs me the wrong way because me and my guests (and my neighbor's and their guests) shouldn't be subject to tracking by some rando neighbor. But also because it is a Ring camera, it records audio. So anyone within mic range of it will have their conversations recorded.

This is no bueno. I have another neighbor who overlooks the courtyard and has a balcony, and has installed a motion-sensing and tracking (the camera itself moves) unit on it. Sometimes the head moves, signaling it's obviously on, and sometimes it doesn't. But it's always up.

I have previously complained to my property manager about that tracking camera. They told me, "they can't have cameras that big there. We'll take care of it." They never did.

And I think I'm about to give them a call about this new Ring Camera. It's ground floor, so it's all up in your face when you reach the end of that walkway (it's next to the laundry room.)

Does anyone have experience with this addressing this sort of issue? Any advice beyond my planning approach of warning them re: the privacy violations and legal implications if those cameras are allowed to stay up?

Beware, this shiz is still going on!

My car was jacked up and they cut my catalytic converter right off; 2019 Toyota Corolla.
I read that my car is one of the top 5 cars to get the car jacked.
My neighbor has the same car and she said hers was recently stolen as well.
My brother was telling my to buy a protective cover for it for $200-$300, but I was reluctant to do so.
Now I’m paying my $500 deductible to get a new one put on.
I made a police report, they dgaf

*LA County Sheriff

Recorded this at the intersection of Del Amo Blvd and Downey Ave in Long Beach. Marked police unit turns left against a red turn arrow with no emergency lights or siren activated.

Under CA Vehicle Code 21055/21056, emergency vehicles are only exempt from traffic signals when responding to a call with lights and/or siren active. Didn’t appear to be the case here
