Welsh TV (apart from on S4C)

Hi, everyone. I've found the selection of TV available on S4C to be really poor. Does anyone know where I could find some more quality Welsh TV online? Like, most of the shows have been made by S4C, such as Un Bore Mercher, Y Angueddfa, Dal y Mellt, etc. I've seen decent shows in the past in Welsh but I can't see to find them anywhere at the moment and the current available shows are awful.

We must have a great back-collection somewhere, right? Could anyone point me in the right direction?

A recent post for Welsh courses here, Beth am ymuno â ni ar Zoom i ddatblygu eich sgiliau Cymraeg? does not show up in my feed when I sort posts by "New", but does when sorted by "Best" or "Hot". This is odd and annoying. Also I bring it to your attention just in case you missed it for this reason.

Canolradd course book changes

Hello all,

Does anyone have any idea how the version 2 of the Canolradd course differs to version 1? I did units 1-10 in version 1 and am being asked to buy version 2 for the next part.

Gramadeg / Grammar Recommendations

Hi,
I’m very new to learning Welsh and have started learning on Duolingo. I find that it’s helping me to learn short sentences but I don’t know if I should be supplementing my learning further. I’ve been getting the idea of reading Welsh children’s books to build understanding of grammar and longer sentences.

Does this sound like it might help, and if so are there any books worth seeking.

Thank you appreciate any help

Welsh Tutor (in Cardiff) or online

Hi, everyone. Shwmae? Dw i wedi dod adref i Gymru ac rydw i eisiau dysgu Cymraeg. I've just moved home to Wales after living away for a number of years and I'd like to start learning Welsh.

I have a few resources that I use but ideally, I'd like to find a tutor to get authentic speaking practice. Does anyone have the contact or know where I can find someone good. Ideally, it would be in person but we can also do online if you know someone good....

Diolch.

Am I the only one who swears the word for ‘fluent’ was spelt rhygl not rhugl?? I was taught this spelling my whole life and I used to be fluent. Maybe it’s bc I’m a southern welsh speaker (who is now relearning Welsh). Did I just dream this for the last few years of my life?? I’m lost 😭

Cwestiwn / Question Am I butchering welsh?

Hi all, an American writer here, I’m wondering if the name of a group of people heavily inspired by welsh mythology I’m writing about is ok to use. In the story, the kingdoms people have a strong bond with dragons as companions that stick with each other until death, as in they are spiritually connected and if the dragon or the person dies so does the other. I tried “dragon people”, Pobl y Ddraig or “half dragons”, Hanner dreigiau, and tried to abbreviate or kinda smush them together but I figured I should ask first before doing anything stupid and disrespectful. I would love for any input and suggestions!

Google Translate in Sheets

I've just figured out that you can use Google Translate inside a Google Sheets spreadsheet, so if you want to create a vocab list, it's easy. The code you need is

=GOOGLETRANSLATE(A1, "cy","en")

I might be late to the party, but sharing in case it's useful for anyone else!
