I love that you can tell that they actually took the time to make sure they got the knitting animation right! The way she holds her yarn and how she moves the needles looks very realistic. The yarn is even on the right side!

Just finished this cute sweater for my aunt for Christmas (doing Christmas gifts in summer is my trick for a stress free Christmas season) and I am frustrated at the floats that show through the lighter sections, even through one of the dark sections. I couldn’t be bothered to FULLY intarsia this sweater but in hindsight I should’ve, as it would’ve look a lot neater.
In the back, I tried catching my floats by just twisting the two strands over each other periodically, instead of having it caught behind another stitch. It looks a bit neater but not perfect.
What are your preferred floats catching methods ?
Was this sweater just not made for that and I should’ve just went for separate color balls à la intarsia ?
These pics are unblocked so I am hoping that the uneven tensions gets evened out with blocking. I always have trouble with uneven tensions while knitting flat.

Pattern : Night & Day Cats Sweater by Svetlana Gibadullina

I began the Antique Filigree sweater earlier in the summer and reached the sleeves about 3-4 weeks ago. I had to set it aside and take a break, but now I feel ready to go back. I changed up the neck line to be a cowl, since one of my favorite sweaters has one and I wanted to make this just a bit cozier. Is it perfect? No! I have so many things I could go back and fix, but this is my biggest challenge to date, and I'm enjoying every moment of it.

I learned about the hönsestrik style from posts on this sub and it looked like so much fun I just had to give it a try! In keeping with the radical history of the style I opted to theme the sweater around a cause close to my heart: opposition to the Ambler Road (a proposed mining access project in Northern Alaska that would use taxpayer money to build a $725 million dollar private road for mining companies with potentially devastating effects on local ecosystems and the communities they sustain.)

I think I have the opposite of the boyfriend sweater curse where my husband gets hotter and nicer every year but none of the things I make him fit. Is this a sweater blessing?

I've been married to my husband for almost 10 years. He's very knit-worthy and about 6 years ago I decided to make him a sweater. At this point, I had mostly made baby sweaters which are forgiving with gauge and sizing. His sweater turned out too big and weirdly baggy in places. He said he liked it, but it wasn't good enough that he could wear it in a professional setting. We were still happily married but his sweater didn't fit. 

In the years that followed I became a lot more proficient at knitting sweaters. I do gauges and everything now. 

About three years ago I decided to try again to make my husband a sweater. I bought nice yarn, I took his measurements, I did a wet blocked gauge to make sure the sweater would fit. But then life got busy (we had two kids, and both worked full time) and my husband took up power-lifting as a hobby. By the time the sweater was finally finished (a few weeks ago), my husband had significantly bigger muscles than he did when I took his measurements. I stretched it as much as I could when I blocked it, but it's too tight for him to wear comfortably. 

Third times the charm?

TLDR: I'm very happily married to a wonderful man with big muscles, but none of the sweaters I make him fit.

Well ive needed a twilight rewatch so I guess my plans are sorted this evening!

Pattern is from hobbywool called midnight flakes which i bought at a yarn show a couple years back. All the wool is 4ply sock yarn from Folkstone Harbour Yarn. Not sure what the blue was called, but both are from the natural dyes range and the red is Red Cochineal.

I saw this photo of a yarn festival and I love the cardigan on the right - with the colourful horse and man stanging on it. I don't know exactly what is going on with the colouwork, but I love this sweater and I can't find any imformation. Does anyone know?

Actually finished this a couple months ago but I immediately took it to work to wear in my freezing office, so didn't get pictures until now.

Used Hobbii Amigo, which i got for 89 cents a skein, so whole thing cost about $7. Surprisingly soft for such cheap acrylic. I mostly use it for amigrumi toys for my son since it's indestructible but gave it a chance with a wearable. Is it fancy? No. But it does the job.

I recently fell in love with the faux-cabling of the Upstream Sweater. However, I don’t love a raglan top, I don’t think it suits my body, and I’ve heard the original pattern is a little difficult to follow as many people on the Ravelry page seem to have made their own modifications.

I’m thinking of looking at another pattern with a European or saddle shoulder construction (e.g. Sweater No. 23 by My Favourite Things Knitwear) and combining the two- I.e. just using the texture of the upstream with the construction of no. 23.

Has anyone tried something like this? Or any tips from people who’ve tried to combine patterns before? Or is this a terrible idea?

After two years of knitting, when I try to 'read' my work for example to count the stitches in a gauge swatch, my brain still automatically registers the ^{^} (marked in green below) as the stitches, instead of the vvvvv (pink), which are the actual stitches, right?

Has anyone else experienced this and did you manage to train your brain to 'see' the actual v as the stitch?

Yes, I know. I blew up the balloons while the sleeves were hanging between the rack sections and now my sweater is stuck here til it dries/the balloons pop. Cest la vie.

Anyway I gave in to an intrusive thought today.

Since finishing this sweater months ago, I’ve been mildly less than satisfied with how the sleeves block out. I try to give them a bit of a stretch after washing to emphasise the ballooned sections, but that tends to only make them wider on one plane? So they just end up sorta flat and wide? When I want them ROUND. I want em to have DIMENSION.

And I keep thinking “what if I blew balloons up in the sleeves” and I keep poo-pooing the idea because if it worked, surely I’d have stumbled upon it by now. Also, what a waste of plastic, really. I am not yeeting two balloons into landfill every time I wash this sweater.

But. You never know until you try, right? So here I am, inserting balloons up my sleeves and carefully blowing them up and praying they don’t immediately explode inside the sleeves. Fun fact, they’re old balloons from a party pack I’ll never use because they’re literally condom coloured.

Realistically I probably knitted the balloon part wrong, and that’s why they don’t look as dimensional and dramatic as other balloon sleeve sweaters I’ve seen.

But uh. Anyway. I’ll see how this goes.

So i am almost finished with the ‘Persistance is key’ Cardigan. Made totally of gauge with Wollmeise&Rohrspatz DK yarn.

I am but a leaf in the wind about my button choices.
Do you have a favorite in here ? or do we think about going to shop for complimentary berry-colored buttons?

My mom hasn’t had a diagnosis but I see signs of impairment. She taught me to knit and enjoys sewing, quilting etc. These have become harder lately and I thought I might ask her to “help me” knit some hats for her grandkids for the winter. After her brain bleed a few years ago she was able to knit so I think she can do it but following a pattern will be challenging. I would like something I could start for her and then she could knit in the round for a while and I could help her with decreases if needed to finish.

What would be the easiest pattern for this? Any other tips/advice from someone who has been through this? Any other favourite patterns that aren’t hats? I don’t think she wants to do dishcloths.

Pro tips: If you start this project now, you will have them for pumpkin carving, murder mystery solving, and especially voting in the midterm election. 🔪🪄

Hi all, I suppose I’m looking for some reassurance/advice. I did consider posting this in r/pregnancy, but thought it would be more niche there than it would be here?

I’m around 16 weeks pregnant and have been struggling with suspected HG, I am on tablets that are making it mostly bearable, but I have ups and downs. I’ve been finding my motivation to work on projects has waned during my pregnancy, but I find knitting so good for my mental health that I’m desperate to get back into it. Has anyone had a similar situation and can advise anything that I can do to rejuvenate my interest?

Hi all! I am quite a beginner knitter and, after making a few Sophie scarves for friends and family, I want to make myself a little neck scarf with a different pattern.

I found this one https://myfavouritethings-knitwear.com/collections/english/products/scarf-no-4-english that looks absolutely gorgeous but the website provides little information about difficulty level. I can knit and purl but I honestly have never made anything more intricate than a stockinette lol.

Before I buy the pattern, has anyone knit this? Is it really hard/intricate?

Thrilled to have finished these shortie socks! However, I hate seaming, and these may be doomed to stay in the WIP pile until I have the patience to Kitchener them together. Does anyone else’s blood boil at the final steps of finishing a project?
Edit: The ribbing on the cuff and stitches on the heel are purposely twisted. Mind your own stitches, friends.

Pattern's self drafted using a lace chart I found online (I've sadly lost the link)

Yarn is 4mm combed cord from Macranova in P4-00

I knit the panel flat, sewed the ends together (poorly) and tied it to the bigger structure. I wove a transparent nylon cord on both sides of the panel first so it wouldn't warp.

This beast of a double knit color work pattern demanded the respect of being printed & bound at Office Depot. I’ve never printed my patterns before, I usually cram them on my phone but I don’t think there’s anyway I could tackle this on my phone.
