Hi All,

To help keep the subreddit free of consistent self promotion we will be altering the self promotion rule, the new rules for self promotion posts are as follows:

- Self promotion posts are only permitted on Fridays

- You must use the 'Self Promotion' flair else the post will be removed and you may be banned.

- We will remove the 500 Karma requirement for posting links

- Your account will still need to be older than 30 days to post

- We will only accept self promotion posts for Kickstarter campaigns.

Thanks,

Mod team

Discussion My first and last kickstarter

Apparently you can't see the updates or comments on those updates if you haven't backed... but the main comment thread should be enough.

So that brings me to this.. if kickstarter won't do anything about scams (even when it's $300k+), what's stopping me from starting a kickstarter and racking in money right now?

Seems there's zero recourse or punishment, so it's open season for scammers here?

Here's what got me feeling this way: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/denten/kioku-complete-japanese-learning-card-series/comments

Self-Promotion Spartan Speech Party Tabletop Game is Live!

Upvotes

Hi, my wife and I made a fast, fun, easy-to-learn party word game called Spartan Speech. It's a guess-the-word game but with two hooks that force clever thinking and occasionally result in accidentally nonsensical clues. Now live on Kickstarter!

First, the hidden words are all proper nouns (nothing obscure, it's not a trivia game). And players *cannot* write proper nouns in their clues. For example, try describing "London" without being able to say the name of a country or building.

Second, the shortest clue is revealed first. This turns it into a push-your-luck game. The shortest clue will definitely get seen by the guesser, but it may look incomprehensible without any context. Or you may somehow get lucky. One Gen Con player wrote the clue "go" and somehow the guesser instantly knew the hidden word was "Monopoly." It was one of gaming's most glorious moments.

Self-Promotion Running my first Kickstarter: Cyclemental Card Game will launch 9 September 2026!

Hi everyone,

I've been working on my lightweight strategy party card game called Cyclemental during my parental leave. The whole concept is inspired by the Chinese Wu Xing / Japanese Gogyo philosophy and after a lot of crafting and playtesting, I decided to take the leap to run my first Kickstarter!

A couple of unique things about my project:

  • All creature designs and illustrations are hand drawn by myself with traditional ink and watercolor.
  • The mechanics are more like a party game with 2-5 people and 20-40 mins of gameplay, as opposed to the regular TCG gameplay.
  • Cyclemental has been selected as "Project We Love" by Kickstarter staff. Still can't believe it tbh as this is entirely a solo project!

The Kickstarter will launch on 9 September 2026 (see the last slide for timings across timezones). If you find the project cool and would like to show support, don't forget to pledge here! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cyclemental/cyclemental-the-card-game

Thank you and let me know if you have any questions!

Question Launching my first Kickstarter campaign, for my QSR style pizza shop, called QuickStone Pizza. any advise? revisit

Hello all, my name is Johnny, and Im seeking advise for launching my first campaign. This is a revisit to this question that I did about 5months ago, so Im reposting it again.

Ok so, My venture is QuickStone Pizza, I designed it to be a quality ingredient Quick Service Restaurant, I've been working on this concept for a little over year now, here and there, creating the ins and outs of it, from my mascot Glen who is also my side-kick and fictitious employee, I figured it will be fun and help promote the brand, to permit research, equipment, and more. (New Note: I build and designed the system that quickstone will be operating under)

I do have restaurant experience, I've owned and operated one back in the days, basically it was a fast paced sandwich shop, so restaurants aren't new to me. I guess I should talk a little more about QuickStone so you readers should get a better understanding of what it is I'm trying to build and get funding for.

So basically QuickStone Pizza is a Fast casual, Fast forward QSR that will be serving 12" Neapolitan artisanal style pizzas that will be ready in 5 minutes or less, my moto is "Fresh.Fast.Fired-Baked in 5 the QuickStone way" pizza ingredients like the sauce will be made fresh daily, fresh mozzarella will be cubed daily as well to ensure a nice clean melt without any anti-caking additives, meat toppings will be uncured meats for a better healthier alternative, (New Note: I will be also adding vegan options) I've created signature drinks, and pie combos plus more.

I guess what Im getting at is, how can I promote my campaign better, in order to be successful, and what rewards would be great to add besides the pizza vouchers, and merch, I also would doing a 120% back voucher in in-store credit, meaning if the pledger pledges $50 they will receive a $60 voucher coupon that never expires, to be used towards pizza and drinks, its my way of giving back to backers and locals for believing in my venture, any ways, I could talk about QuickStone all day, but any advise would be really appreciated and if you have any more questions we can talk about it below, and on my Facebook. So thank you for reading and looking forward to your advise.

New Note: Since I last posted this the first time Ive updated my rewards and moved things around, I will be launching soon, and doing a 2 week pre-launch. If you have any questions on anything about my campaign please feel free to ask. Thank you for taking time to read this. Johnny

Self-Promotion Survive 10-minute night shifts at SHIFT24, where cup noodles and snacks are your weapons!

Hi r/kickstarter! We're the team behind Mini Mart Survivors, a roguelite about surviving a 10-minute night shift at a strange convenience store called SHIFT24.

You fight back with cup noodles, snacks, and ice cream, then use your wages to pay off debt and piece together what's really going on at SHIFT24.

Our Kickstarter is still in pre-launch, and 117 people are following the project so far. We're planning to launch the campaign in mid-September, in just 1-2 weeks!

If it sounds like something you'd enjoy, visit our Kickstarter pre-launch page and click "Notify me on launch" to get an email when the campaign goes live. No pledge needed yet :)

There's also a free Steam demo if you'd like to try a shift first.

Thanks for taking a look! Happy to answer questions about the game.

Question How can you tell if a first time kickstarter is trustworthy?

I've been looking into new Kickstarter projects, and I've noticed a lot of promising projects that are created from creators who have never made a project before. I was wondering if there are tell-tale signs that such projects are trustworthy and are worth backing. What are the signs?

Question Working on my first original comic and looking for some advice!

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working really hard on finishing my first original comic, and since this is the first time I’ve ever done something like this, I’m honestly feeling both really nervous and incredibly excited about it.
I’d love to get some advice from people here who have experience making and/or crowdfunding comics.
The comic would be Volume #1, and one of the biggest challenges I’m facing is that I live in Mexico and At least for now, producing physical copies would be extremely expensive for me, especially since the majority of my audience is in the US. Shipping physical comics internationally would add a pretty significant cost.
Because of that, I’m currently considering making my Kickstarter a 100% digital comic. I’d still like to offer some extra rewards/perks for people who want to support the project a little more, things like a cameo in the comic, a personal commission, or other bonus rewards.
So my main question is: Do you think a 100% digital comic Kickstarter could work? And if you’ve done something similar, is there anything you wish you had known before starting?
I’d really appreciate any advice, tips, or even things you think I should avoid. This is completely new territory for me, so any insight would mean a lot!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and thanks in advance for any advice!

DEVIL'S TREE: an iPhone 18 Pro Max Series — Kickstarter is officially live!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! After years of writing and development, my indie feature film Devil's Tree is officially heading to Kickstarter.

The story is a mind-bending psychological thriller where fiction meets reality—the plot centers on a dark creative project that begins to bleed into the real world, trapping the characters in a terrifying loop where their choices have inescapable, real-world consequences.

To bring this to life, we're doing something pretty historic: we are shooting the entire feature-length narrative exclusively on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, pushing mobile cinematography and indie filmmaking to absolute extremes.

After coming agonizingly close on our last campaign, we are making this series happen no matter what, but how far we can scale the production value, the gear, and our cast depends entirely on this Kickstarter.

This marks my return to directing nearly five years after my last project, taking everything I learned as a PA on Don't Dream About Me a year ago and applying it to my first feature.

If you aren’t in a position to back the Kickstarter financially, you can still play a massive role by sharing this Kickstarter and sending it to a friend. Getting eyes on the campaign makes all the difference for an indie team.

Check out the campaign, grab some backer rewards, and join the journey here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/maistomedia/the-devils-tree

Would love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions about the story or shooting a feature entirely on mobile!

Explaining Kickstarter in ads to promote conversion?

Thumbnail kickstarter.com
2 Upvotes

I just started running Meta Ads and my first campaign resulted in a 87 landing page views from 944 impressions, which is awesome from metrics I've seen. Unfortunately, those 87 landing page views resulted in 0 new followers. My first thought is that the ad did not explain what Kickstarter is, and why prelaunch followers are important, so those clicks didn't provide motivated viewers.

I'm looking to create a better call to action (admittedly this one was written for organic social media views, not paid ads, so I probably should have redone it already) and was wondering if anyone has some wisdom on what has worked to motivate people to sign up.

Should I include a sentence or two in the ad along the lines of "You can help this product come to life by following"?

Has anyone tried including that explanation as part of their prelaunch page?

I've also considered that my prelaunch page might need a rework if people are seeing it and not signing up but I'll save that for another post...

Discussion Ungaland Kickstarter Advise

We just launched our Kickstarter, and I feel like we’re having a bit of a slow start, with around $5,000 raised in the first 48 hours.

Do you have any advice on how we can generate more traffic and get more people to discover the campaign?

We’ve been posting consistently, doing regular updates, and keeping our social media active, but we’d love to hear what else we could be doing to increase visibility and reach more potential backers.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Help Struggling to get followers with paid ads. Skyhigh CPMs, traffic not converting - what am I missing

As the title says. Been struggling to get followers to my Kickstarter campaign when using ads.

My CPMs are the highest I’ve ever seen them, ranging between $20-$35, so I’m struggling to get visibility, but despite that, Click through rate is okay, but cost per follower ranging between $7-$11.

I’m targeting a mix of interested including Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Steam, Games and Kickstarter.

What am I missing?

Need ideas to get pledge traction

Ok so I launched a Kickstarter on Tuesday last week (8/24) to help get my tea parlor off the ground. The funds are intended to purchase decorations, tea sets, tentatively some sound equipment, marketing supplies and kitchen equipment. I had a really good first day and then things flatlined.

I am currently unemployed, so any marketing I do that costs money has to be very strategic. I do not have funds to pay a group to strategize for me. Things I am doing right now that cost 0 dollars:

-Posting to my personal and business social media

-Collaborating with local businesses to host pop-up tea parties

-Reaching out to local news groups

- Looking for makers markets to attend

Any and all advice to have a successful campaign is welcome!

Discussion Witchstarter marketing ideas

For creators who have witchstarter projects, how have you been planning to market your kickstarters?

I planned my sangrya kickstarter completely around witchstarter and luckily got approved. It starts October 1.

Here are some of my ideas that I might try:

Take part in the Inktober challenge on Instagram to draw relative artwork for my project

Have a trick or treat reward tier or add on. Maybe something along the lines of it being a secret thing.

Dress up as one of the creatures from my project for some fun product photos.

Cross promote with other related witchstarters on our project updates.

Throw a live Halloween party where everyone dresses up as creatures from your project and hold a best costume contest to be voted by your fans.

What are yall planning to do?

Question What would be the best rewards if my comic is only available digitally for the time being?

Hi everyone! I need some advice about a situation I'm facing. I'm preparing a crowdfunding campaign for my graphic novel.

The problem is that I don't live in the United States or Europe, and from my country, offering physical rewards (like paperback copies, stickers, or merchandise) would be too expensive due to shipping costs and local taxes.

I'd love to offer physical rewards, but given my situation, it's not feasible right now. However, I want to launch this campaign to help cover pre-production and production costs. Since sharing the covers and synopsis, I've received a lot of support, so I want to make sure I offer the best rewards possible.

I was thinking of creating a digital art book with storyboards, initial character designs, and materials from the creative process. What do you think?

In your opinion, what would be the best rewards?
