Germany has more castles than the United States has McDonald’s. This is the Eltz castle, located in Wiershem. It has been owned and occupied by the same family for 33 generations over 800 years

Simply not true. I visited it this summer. The two other families lineages died out and only Eltz remained.

Three branches of the same family, dating back to the three brothers in 1268. I'll stipulate that we're all related if you go back far enough, but I think you have to admit the families are connected if they all have unbroken traceable lines of succession that far back, to a single point.
