Hi everyone I have an idea for a club I would love to start at uOttawa either this year or next year but need some advice on how to get started. I have an account with UOSU but can’t figure out how to apply as a new club. When does the application cycle open?

Do any club execs have advice for starting/managing a club? Thanks!

Request for Help Any experiences with bedbugs on campus?

Hi there,

My stepkiddo attended camp at Ottawa U this summer. I have a lot of bedbug related trauma (past experience while living in an apartment) and today, 2 weeks after camp, I found what I think was a bedbug in my nightstand and received 3 bites that are consistent with bedbug bites.

I know a few years ago I remember seeing news articles online about some areas of Ottawa u having bedbug problems. I’m not a student there so I wanted to see if anyone had had recent experiences with bed bugs on campus?

What actually makes you show up to (and enjoy) a club event?

Hey everyone! I’m putting together some events. Instead of guessing, I wanted to ask directly:

  • What makes you actually want to attend a club event vs. skip it?
  • Is food/snacks a dealbreaker for you, or is it more about the activity/vibe itself?
  • would you be willing to pay a ticket price ($2-5) for food? what kind of food would you pay for?
  • Do you prefer casual social events, structured discussions, or a mix?
  • Any events you’ve been to (any club) that stood out as genuinely fun or well done? What made them work?
  • Any pet peeves about club events that make you not want to go back?

Genuinely just trying to build events people actually want to be at, not just events that check a box. Appreciate any honest input 😊 even a quick comment helps a lot!

CLA2323

Hii, just got access to the syllabus for CLA2323 with professor John Serrati. I was wondering if anyone who’s taken his class before could clarify if the final (5 essay styled questions, out of which students must answer 2) is taken place in person or from home? I’ve also never had him so I wonder how he is when it comes to grading. Thank youuu!!
Ps.. I also checked ratemyprof but it’s kinda vague!

Which textbook does Mayor use for CHM1311?

I’m currently on the waitlist for CHM1311 with Mayor, and I’ll most likely get into the course. I wanted to know which textbook is being used so I can look for it.
If anyone is currently enrolled and has read the course intro manual/syllabus, could you please let me know which textbook is required? Thanks!

NSG 2313

I am looking for a quick clarification!

  1. Rotation Blocks: Are the 10 hospital clinical shifts condensed into a single 5-week block (Rotation 1 or 2)?

  2. Days Off: During the 6 weeks when I am not at the hospital, will my Thursdays and Fridays be completely free?

  3. Lab Overlap: Do my regular Monday/Wednesday labs stop once my 5-week hospital block begins?

  4. Shift Consistency: Will my assigned clinical shift time (Day vs. Evening) stay the same for all 10 shifts?

And lastly, will all my clinical courses be this format?

Thank you!

Experience booming mental health assessment

Ignore the typo in the title 😭

Trying to book a mental health assessment online, but it says appointments are only released a few days in advance, and there are non available right now. Is this just something I should check in on daily? Wondering if anyone else has experience doing this…

Accounting Co-op

Hi guys, will be in Uottawa this fall for accounting, not selected for COOP but they mentioned that I can reapply for COOP after 1 year of full time study. I'm only doing 3 to 4 courses a semester and I noticed the tiution fees difference between taking 3 courses and 4 courses is more than 3k because I would be considered part time vs full time student.

So I'm just wondering if people actually succeeded in finding an accounting interns/coop in the last couple of year, how was it, how was the salary and how did it help you with your career post graduate and is COOP worth it in your opinion. Anything helps and I'd be very interested in hearing your story!

Housing Looking to Swap My Room in Henderson / Je cherche à échanger mon chambre à Henderson

I have a single room on the first floor of Henderson and am looking to swap it for a single room in a traditional residence (Leblanc, Thompson, Stanton, Marchand). Preferably Leblanc, but I'll take any traditional residence. I'm new to Reddit and don't know many people in Ottawa so if anyone knows how I could spread this post to more people, that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is interested in swapping, please DM me. Thank you!

Discussion Paying tuition fee as an international student

Has anyone here paid the university via flywire or cohort go? My bank has been insisting on paying via flywire stating that the payment will go through. And they have done payments to uOttawa before.

They have raised that payments through convera and CIBC student pay are getting stuck.

Looking for hockey players and goalies for early Friday morning games

Pickup hockey players and goalies wanted. Early Friday morning. Games 7 and 8 am starts. Various rinks. Adult league. 18+. Co-Ed. Friendly non contact fun. Zero tolerance for rough play.

Intermediate to advanced players welcome. This league would be too fast for true beginner players.

20$ per game.

Goalies play for free. No commitment. Play as many or as little as you want. Different rinks and times depending on where I can book ice. 3-4 games per week.

Come give us a try. We are using BenchApp for our team communication & scheduling. Join our team using this code: https://www.benchapp.com/join/team/CDPC04

Please read bullentins on benchapp when joining.

Supports for anxiety on campus?

I’m an incoming freshman with generalized anxiety disorder and occasionally have panic/anxiety attacks. All the resources on campus that I’ve found are basically just “here’s how to get a referral” or “here’s how to make a same day appointment with the wellness centre” which really isn’t helpful. I know I have anxiety and am receiving treatment, however sometimes things will escalate and I have minor panic attacks. At my high school I always had a safe, quiet and private room provided to me by the guidance department (or my music teacher, lol), but I have no idea what the uni equivalent of this would be. I’m not in residence so that’s not an option either. Is there any place that the wellness centre or something provides that would be suitable for me to regulate myself in? Any tips in the right direction are appreciated!
