I just started my sophomore year and I just feel like I’m behind I barely know how to use CAD. I feel like most people already know more than me on CAD due to doing it before while I’m still learning and can’t even do basic projects yet. I was looking at joining the team. Has anyone else joined it what’s been your experience. How do they treat new members do they expect you to already know stuff or do they guide you to learning. I don’t want to drag anyone down but I really do want to learn I heard there was an onboarding project do they help you with these or do most seniors not like helping the underclass men. Is there anywhere on the university I can go to help learn CAD like there is for math or science classes? I would really appreciate any help. Or advice anyone has. I’m a mechanical engineering major I figured joining the electrical team would give me a better chance at internships since l’ll be doing mechanical stuff but still be working with electrical things which would look good when applying. I feel behind not having an internship or anything lined up. I’d appreciate anyone’s help

Hey everyone. I was accepted into the college of business and my goal was to transfer into ROSS. However, my advisor keeps saying that there is a recommended class to take that would have me on campus every Friday. I told him with wanting to transfer and with a long commute (about an hour and a half every day) it doesn't seem like the right fit for me to take this recommended course this semester since it will not transfer over into ROSS.

I'm genuinely freaking out because why would my advisor be telling me to change out of the college of business on the first day of classes? He keeps emphasizing that this class is a recommended class, no where did he say I have to take it. What will happen with my FAFSA? Will I still be able to transfer over credits? Do I really have to transfer out of the college of business?

i was fully prepared to go to Wayne next month until I saw the bill. its over 11,000. with aid it was estimated to be 5,000, which is too much for for I can financially handle. I was expecting much less as I had scholarships and a fasfa student index of -1500. ive sent out dozens of emails, but at this rate, unless it drops by a couple thousands I cant remain. does anyone know if the aid estimate is accurate?

ive applied to university of Michigan Dearborn, where the tuition will be nearly free. My issue with Dearborn is that there seems to be an abundance of professors who refuse to give out As and as someone aiming for law school, this isn't something im comfortable with. I've had a 3.9 GPA for business and Im not sure if that can be reproduced at UFMD at the upper level.

ive generally heard that the business professors at Wayne are much more forgiving. They're more lenient and willing to work with you.

I would graduate in 1.5 years at Wayne, atp i believe 2-2.5 at UOFMD. However, ufmd may be entirely free. I would be LIVING AT HOME and both campuses are 15 mins away.

I do not care about my undergrad major, (I am taking general business for the first semester and may do supply chain or management winter) i am just trying to GPAMAXX with the highest return of investment for law school and making money to save up for law as well.

Hey everyone I just had a question about meeting times/instructional method while creating my class schedule. I'm trying to go to campus as little as possible (long commute, rebuilding financial safety net, more reasons just the two biggest ones) and I believe I got my first year-first semester schedule to work out in my favor? I'm trying to figure out what the visual week schedule they have means.

Two of my classes are completely online so the visual doesn't have a blue blocked out specific day to do classes or exams. So I assume I just do that class whenever and turn things in before deadlines. However my other two classes are Hybrid-Mostly Online. One of them has Friday blue blocked out saying Dearborn Campus | Term Exams. I assume that one instructional method is completely online but when I take a test I will show up to campus on Fridays? The next one has two visuals. One of them says Internet Instruction which has no blue blocked day, and the other one has Wednesday blue blocked and says Dearborn | Term Exams. Is it just internet instructions and then when I take an exam it's at campus as well? I don't understand why one class has two visuals and the other has one when I'm interpreting it as the same outcome.

Any and all advice is appreciated. I'm terrified to start university and I don't want to mess this up.

I'm hoping my opinion doesn't offend anyone but oh my God this school sucks. I've been here for 6 years including a gap so I think I have a decent idea of how things are going.

WHY IS IT SO FUCKING HOT IN HERE??? It's like they completely turn off AC during the summer in some locations. Also, WHERE ARE THE VENDING MACHINES??? All the good vending machines are CLOSED for the summer, and the ones I walked all the way across campus for had a BROKEN CARD READER ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Don't get me started on Picasso. The food is not good, nor is it more affordable than other options in any way. It's more worthwhile to drive 10 minutes somewhere else. Nevermind that, you can't even get any food unless you're here before 2pm. If you think it gets better in the Fall, sorry they're only open until 4pm.

Financial aid and advising is such a pain, I don't want to even talk about it.

I mostly just can't get over how shit the food situation on campus is, it's sad that students have to pay $10 for a shit sandwich smaller than your palm.

Greek life. The school DOES NOT care. They do little to NOTHING to promote recruitment.

I'm tired of typing I need to pay attention to class.

I submitted the application to have a chance at winning the scholarship alongside my acceptance to the Honors program in February, but I haven't heard back at all. Have they already come out or something? I haven't gotten any emails about a rejection, so idk. Anyone have any clue when results are announced?

I just got accepted to um dearborn and would like to attend. However the information regarding scholarships for international students are scarce and vague. I see that there is a merit based fin aid but it is nowhere near enough to make it affordable for me (around 25k left just on tuition). Is it the only aid they offer? are there any options for working while studying?

I’m soon graduating with my bachelors in computer science w/ a concentration in cyber. I’m confident in my knowledge/abilities but my gpa’s only slightly above a 3.0. The curriculum that the program offers seems similar to courses I’ve already taken as well.

Hello, I graduated from UofM-AA and I’m considering the MS Marketing Analytics program at Dearborn. Everywhere I look on [r/UofM](r/UofM) has people dunking on Flint/Dearborn and it’s pretty one-sided tbh.

Have any of you come from the flagship campus? Is the vitriol justified? From your experience, was it a positive experience?

Edit: For clarification, there are like zero posts on r/UofM about this. Everyone talks about how they transferred to Ann Arbor, no one wants to talk about doing anything else. Personally, I struggled to focus on my studies in graduate school, something that I didn’t do enough as an undergrad. I’d probably be better off at a commuter campus with less distractions.

I am looking to attend Dearborn next fall and am wondering if anyone knows of people who are in any kind of engineering programs and also athletics. Just want to know if anyone has any tips on handling the high demands of engineering with athletic programs as I know it can be hard and I would like some guidance and advice before I start. My job gives a sizable tuition reimbursement and I was thinking of doing a part time masters, most likely online. The MS programs that interest me are Industrial and Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Analytics Engineering, and Automotive and Mobility Systems Engineering.

Industrial and Systems Engineering: seems like the safest choice as it is a universally recognized degree name. My gripe with it is that my BS was IOE from UM Ann Arbor and the classes seem like an exact repeat of my UG work. I have a solid understanding of traditional areas of focus of IE and feel like I can self teach more advanced topics so it seems like a waste. On the flip side, this degree could help reinforce topics and possibly do a PhD one day.

Manufacturing Analytics Engineering: seems like a modern ISE program with a focus on i4.0 technologies which make it appealing. However, I could not find further information about the degree and the fact it has the word "analytics" in it makes it seem like a cash grab. I did schedule a meeting with one of the directors to let me know more information.

Automotive and Mobility Systems Engineering: This is the program that is most appealing to me and I have sizable knowledge of various automotive functions over the years. I would like to reinforce that knowledge some more and this seems like the degree to do it. However, my main concern is that the automotive industry is very volatile and if I need to switch industries, would this degree hold up?
