A friend of mine blacked out at a party, said/did some hilarious things, and woke up the next day having to be shown how the party went via snapchat videos. He doesn't drink anymore.

Hopefully this guy follows a similar path, otherwise he's going to seriously hurt someone.

I had a similar experience when I was younger. It doesn't feel good listening to people tell you all the cringe shit you were doing the night before.

I also really didn't like the blackout itself. It felt like instantly time traveling from partying to everyone in the house being asleep. It felt like a waste.

Being blackout is just as creepy to me as medical anesthesia. You're just suddenly somewhere else and feel like shit.

Anyone who likes being blackout should get evaluated for depression imo. You'd rather just delete hours of your day than live life.

I don't think the goal is blacking out - more the extreme drunkness right before you black out. However it's a very fine line

When I was an alcoholic, the goal was very much about blacking out.

Definitely never drove though, eliminated all possibility of that at least.

Man when I first got my wisdom teeth removed I cried when I woke up. I felt violated that I had been fully lucid and now I blink and my teeth are gone and I had no idea it was happening to me.

My first and only blackout is the exact moment I stopped trying to get really drunk. And had a long time of pretty much abstaining throughout my 20s. I started not liking ending my day with drunken stupor and ruining the next feeling like garbage.

When I was in my early 20’s I would black out, not intentionally, and it’s scary thinking about it. One second I’m drinking and having fun with my friends and then I blink and I’m at home in my bed hours later. Thank god I never hurt anyone.

I had one black out night during my one heavy drinking year.

It’s legitimately strange to just not remember

Also, I don’t really get why I ever thought drinking like that was fun. For me it was a short phase, at least

I am so grateful I am old enough when visual recording devices were not available. I still got to hear what I did, but at least I can argue they were as drunk as me and probably have it wrong.

One of the reasons I don't drink is because I've seen other people say some interesting things (both negatively and positively) while blacked out that they absolutely would have never said sober, and in some cases it destroyed longtime friendships and even relationships.

I'm legitimately more scared of blacking out and losing control over my own words and actions than I am scared of actually dying.

Great that the observer recorded the interaction. There was an accident where a woman plowed thru a crowd crossing the street. There was a trial and she claimed it was medication related (she was not drinking) verses just being distracted and negligent when she ran the red light. Would have been good if someone had a video of her response right after she stopped her car. (I did see one person go up to her car while the rest of us tended those who got hit, so it could have been captured if they had thought about it.)

I've been both blacked out and ambulatory for several hours, and so drunk I was paralyzed while still being able to discuss my condition and getting a cab with the bartender.

I've never been drunk enough to try driving while in either condition.
