It has been about seven years since graduation and i have never told a single soul what i did. There was this guy, let's call him Tyler, who made my life a total living hell from freshman to senior year. He wasnt just a "mean kid" he was a genuine psychopath who targeted me because i was quiet. He tripped me in the halls, threw my backpack in the trash, and even made jokes about my mom when she was going through chemo. Everyone loved him though because he was the star of the soccer team and had that golden boy charm that teachers fall for. He had a full ride scholarship to a great state school and everything was handed to him on a silver platter.

The week of final exams senior year i decided i was done being the victim. Tyler was failing his AP History class and needed at least a B to keep his scholarship and graduate. I spent two days practicing his handwriting and i made these incredibly detailed cheat sheets on tiny scraps of paper. During the final exam i made sure to sit right behind him. About halfway through the test when the proctor was walking down the opposite aisle i "accidentally" knocked my water bottle over. In the confusion i slid the cheat sheets under his desk and kicked them just far enough so they were visible. Then i raised my hand and whispered to the teacher that i thought Tyler dropped something. He got caught red handed and because he already had a few disciplinary marks for "minor" stuff they didnt go easy on him. He got an automatic zero, got expelled two weeks before graduation, and lost his scholarship.

I saw him a few months ago when i went back to my hometown for the weekend. He was working at a local tire shop looking ten years older than he actually is and smelling like cheap cigarettes. He never went to college and his "golden boy" life basically ended that day in the gym. I know people say you should forgive and move on but honestly? Seeing him like that gave me the best feeling in the world. I thought id eventually feel guilty for basically sabotaging his entire future over high school bullshit but i dont. Every time i remember the look on his face when the principal led him out of the room i just feel this weird sense of peace. I guess some people just get what they deserve eventually.

As a former smoker there is a big difference. I was rolling cigarettes with a tobacco called golden virginia and sometimes I would smoke at home and never felt a drench. I noticed the difference when a friend asked if they could smoke and the had a red Marlboro. The drench stayed for days.

Smokers smell like cigarettes. I do not believe that OP is able to tell the difference between expensive or cheap cigarettes from secondhand odors.

And are you claiming Marlboros are the cheap cigarettes or the expensive ones? Based on what you experienced once with (I'm assuming you meant stench and not drench) smelling bad for days after 1 Marlboro that I (or anyone else) would change my mind?

And I say this as someone who only smoked during college... It's pretty easy to smell the difference once you've smoked a few.

The point of expensive cigarettes is that they feel less harsh on your throat and smell less pungent even though it's just as cancerous.

Good cigars have some of the smoothest smelling smoke, almost chocolatey... And it's way more cancerous lol. Although they're even harsher on the throat if you're an idiot and inhale.

To clarify, I assert OP made up a stupid story about things that never happen. I strongly believe OP is unable to differentiate between expensive and cheap cigarettes based on the odor on dude's clothes and skin. People have different senses of smell, for example my brother can tell something is citrus, I can usually discern whether a scent is orange or lemon. You also have to factor in familiarity to scents. A lot of my relatives used to smoke, a lot of the kids I went to school with smoked as well. My family members tended to buy expensive brands, the school kids went for the cheapest packs. Now, I cant give you a price point, cause I don't know exactly how much they cost, not would I bother to remember. It's not a habit I have. But I can tell the difference between them in the same way I can tell the difference between oranges, lemon, lime and grapefuit. Just because you can't tell the difference between cheap and expensive cigs, doesn't mean that OP is making the story up, not does it mean others can't.

I'm trying to understand your frame of reference here. What would you consider an expensive brand of cigarettes? What is a cheap brand of cigarettes?

Oranges and limes and grapefruit and lemons are different fruits with different smells. If someone cannot tell the difference of smells of different fruit they should be concerned and seek medical advise. Tobacco is tobacco. How does higher grade tobacco smell different than lower grade tobacco as it sets on clothing and skin?

I've been smoking cigarettes longer than you've been alive. Some may be able to discern how expensive a cigarette was based on the smell left on skin and clothes but it isn't you.

As good as your are with citrus, you have no clue what an expensive versus cheap cigarette smoke smells like on skin and clothing.

I was smoking a relatively expensive brand but cigarettes are usually are in the same price range. I needed to be more specific and say different brands have different tastes and smells. Just like water, drinks and food. Slightly cheaper ones have a bad taste and a heavier smell, but the price is not the deciding factor.

And you definitely can smell smoke in a closed area and on people. It does stay for a while.
And yes I think red marlboros taste and smell like shit even though they’re mid price range.

If you really want to know the difference try rolling the green golden virginia for a month and switch back to whatever you’re smoking.

Can I tell the difference by scent alone? Possibly but it's been a while. I don't spend much time round smokers these days and I don't generally go around sniffing folk that closely. But OP could just being making assumptions based on appearance and personal fantasy. I mean, if you already think they're suffering, it's not that much of a stretch to assume they can only afford cheap things.

Edit: also, forgot to mention, but the smell tends to stick to clothing. I used to hate when my brother smoked cause it followed him everywhere, even if his last had been an hour ago and my brain has linked the smell to being travel sick (folk used to smoke on the school bus) so I'd feel nauseous.

To be fair people can be very oblivious/focused in those environments, my "senior prank" in highschool was literally just leaving fake lemons on the floor in classrooms through the day to confuse people, I would just drop them and nobody figured out it was me, they did notice the lemons though, several were destroyed, idk what the fate of the rest was but yeah people don't pay that much attention
