How quickly a peaceful waterfall can turn violent (Dandu Waterfall, India)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
If 3947 (out of 29.6 million) Nepal riverbank inhabitants end up dying from a natural act of tectonic plates affecting glaciers at still freezing 17k feet, that will be proportional to the 1200 Israel lost on October 7th in its country of 9 million.
More critically, if Iran lost 65000 out of 90 million to IRGC killings or Israel lost a million to an Iranian nuke in a country with just 9 million...you can see how quickly warfare deaths are exponentially higher than any comparison to even the worst natural disasters.
Russia is losing 1000 casualties a day in Ukraine. They may have lost 20 million in WWII between Stalin & fighting the Allies.
Don't let anyone tell you climate change is existential or a more serious need than deterring war.

To promote climate action, emotion may matter more than information
Stories rather than facts
But not all effective strategies are equally effective. "Campaigns that evoke a strong emotional response—particularly through storytelling or by inspiring a sense of wonder at the beauty of nature—are significantly more effective than simply presenting facts and scientific evidence.
Messages that draw on moral, ethical or even religious considerations, highlighting our connection to something greater than ourselves that we have a responsibility to preserve, also achieve better results."

Fear Of Debate: Alarmist German Climate Scientist Calls On Mainstream Media To Discredit Skeptic Voices
notrickszone.comIn an interview published by the German public broadcaster MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk) on September 1, 2026—titled “Es gibt einen Markt für Desinformation” (“There is a Market for Disinformation”)—prominent alarmist Stefan Rahmstorf spoke with MDR Wissen to address the tactics of climate change skepticism, which he says of course is funded by evil special business interests, and how communication to the public must evolve.
In the MDR interview and his broader public communication strategy, Stefan Rahmstorf addresses the rise of alternative, populist, and fringe media platforms.
Exclude skeptics from debate
He suggests that rather than trying to engage them in debate or change their minds directly, he calls on mainstream journalists and established media outlets to strictly avoid giving a platform to skeptic voices from alternative channels.
Investigate skeptics
According to Rahmstorf, alternative media channels often frame their content as independent, “free speech,” or grassroots skepticism, and calls on the established media institutions and investigative journalists to trace where these channels get their material, who funds them, and how political or economic interest groups amplify them.
“We scientists explain the data and facts of climate change, but journalists need to investigate who is serving the market for disinformation and where the money is coming from,” says Rahmstorf. “”It is the job of journalism to uncover who is behind these campaigns, who is funding them, and what interests are being pursued.”
Avoid debating skeptics
Rahmstorf says that it is ineffective to try to debate or convince dedicated alternative media creators or their hardcore audiences in comment sections. It’s a debate that alarmist climate scientists cannot win. The Potsdam Climate Institute researcher thinks communication efforts should focus on the broader public—those who are exposed to alternative media snippets via social media or messaging apps. Clear, accessible explanations using real-world data and verifiable facts help build immunity against misleading claims before they take root.
Rahmstorf tells MDR that science communicators and mainstream journalists need to anticipate the false arguments likely to emerge from alternative outlets and pre-bunk them.

The Climate Crisis Is Bigger Than Your Footprint
This 35-yo UC Santa Barbara professor, who was born/raised in Canada, gets emotional advocating collective climate alarm.
She fails to recognize heavy tar sands oil, manufacturing, & IT within 100 miles of the U.S. border are the reason for Canada's success.
Much of California's population (nearly equaling Canada's 41.5 million) also grew with fossil fuels, early manufacturing & agriculture made possible by hydrocarbon fertilizer...not taxing billionaires.
The fires she speaks of were created by poor forest management that could have been enhanced instead of attempting a high-speed rail to nowhere & higher state worker pensions.
Thankfully, half the U.S. & Alberta, recognize that CO2 is not the enemy, her high school teacher was smarter, & technology will be the saviour...not Canadian solar panels covered by snow during short days, & EVs losing range in the cold weather.

Climate policy could learn from people who already live within the limits of sufficiency
Sounds an awful lot like the communism that Finland abandoned & China embraced.
After living again in Silicon Valley for 2.5 months, you can be assured that it is not a viable model for the rest of the North, Central, & South Americas where public transportation, bikes, vegans, & $4000 apartments would never work.
When will sufficiency "experts" ever learn that making the haves, have less, is not the climate solution.
