Meta PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS!

Looking for quick and helpful answers? Follow these rules and make helping you as easy as possible!

  • Title: Choose a meaningful title concerning your problem.
  • Text: Describing your problem with enough detail is essential. Please realize that helpers are not familiar with your project. Provide all relevant information, so others can immideately understand what you are struggling with.

Example: Say, you have a problem with lots of identical objects in your scene: Let us know whether you created these copies by hand, used the Particle System or Geometry Nodes.

  • Images/Videos: When posting screenshots, show us your full blender window (not cropped, no monitor photos). This will make lots of helpful information available to helpers at first sight that may seem irrelevant to you (For example your Blender version). If you add video links, please consider adding time stamp info to the part you want helpers to see.

You can upload images and short video clips (up to 60s) to imgur.com and post the links in your question or as comment.

  • *.blend files: Don’t add links to your *.blend files when posting questions right away. Helpers will ask you for it if they need to take a look. Most people prefer reading a good description and looking at images to see what your post is about.
  • 'Solved' flair: Once your question was answered, please remember to change the flair of your post to “Solved”, so helpers don’t have to read into your question just to see it has already been answered.

You can change the flair by clicking on the small icon below your post resembling a label.

EDIT: You can also include "!solved" in the comments to have Automod change the flair for you.

Be nice and respectful with each other :)

Unsolved Is there a way to do this that doesn't also unleash the sun upon the room?

i'm new to blender. the 3rd slide is what i'm trying to recreate. also yes i know that light objects are a thing

edit: yes i know that setting the emission strength that high would do that, i was trying to light up the room around the same as the irl lamp does and reasonable strength levels weren't doing that. i made the post because i wanted to light up the room without having to set emission up that high

^ edit: now using a light object. i have to turn the settings up enough to where the same issue still happens though

Unsolved Good addons with stylized impact frames like this one?

Hi,

I'm looking for blender addons that are essentially a library of impact frames, swing trails, and basically just stylized, maybe comic-booky animations.

Are there any good ones for a reasonable price?

Unsolved A 3D art style that I've been looking for.

Post image

I've asked a similar question before, but about low-poly examplesI showed in another post. I just want to know if anyone is familiar with this 3D art style? And if there's any way I can study it to create models in Blender like this one? Sadly, I haven't found any tutorials that manage to do something completely similar to this.

Solved Resetting the pose when there's no visible bones

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hi guys, I think i'm missing something, so I hope someone will tell me what's wrong xd
I have a rigged character, it seems it's fully rigged but I cannot see the face bones
On edit mode there's a completely default face expression but on other modes it's different, and no visible face bones anywhere so I don' know where it might be. There's no vertex groups or other things which can be related to face expression either, and sculpt mode does nothing - it just doesn't move. I also tried to show missing bones with A -> Alt+H in pose mode but no, no other bones showing up, still the same, and in bone hierarchy there's no face related bones, only body and hair

Here's some pictures if it'll help
How can I fix this?

UPDATE: shape keys just exist! Face expression was posed with shape keys, so if you have similar problem try to use this

Unsolved How to get accurate daylight through blinds?

Thumbnail

I've been trying to get lighting for my scene that's meant to be in bedroom with light seeping through closed blinds, but I'm struggling. The first image is in Shading view, then Rendering view, and the where the sun is on the outside.

Is a Sun light the best thing for me to use? Or would a strong point/plane light be better? And in real life, blinds let in a bit of light (even when closed), so how can I get accurate lighting in my current situation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unsolved Help with Lineart Issues

Thumbnail

I've been looking to add a Lineart to my characters and after reading one of the previous posts here, I decided to untick "In Front" in the Object Properties tab. That worked, but it's causing the lineart to float above the object. I'm looking for the lineart to be attached to the objects but not show through the object. I added it as a Collection lineart versus a general Grease Pencil Empty with a Lineart modifier. Anybody know the solution?

Please ignore the topology gore, and terrible anatomy. It’s my first attempt at creating a model, and it’s a work in prog-mess.

I’m loosely following a tutorial by Maisth. I’m understanding everything so far, except how to make the model whole again. He never mentions how to fix this, nor if he has this problem. I watched an AI voice-over Youtube short that said to use Bool Tool, but I can’t get the add-on to show up on my sidebar. I don’t really know if I can trust the AI voice over either.

Help would be appreciated.

Unsolved UV Wrapping Issue

Thumbnail

Hello All! I am in the middle of creating an animation for my 3D Pain from Naruto. When I started moving my rig in pose mode, I noticed that the ripple pattern of the rinnegan (the pattern on the eyes) started moving around. I originally had my node set up as Texture Coordinate (Object) --> Separate XYZ. I changed it to Texture Coordinate (UV) --> Separate XYZ when I realized the eyes were having an issue. I also separated the eyes so that they have their own texture to make things easier. I have been trying to trouble shoot in the UV editor for a while but here's what I have. The pupil keeps elongated all the way to the back of the eye (i'm starting out with the left eye). I am attaching what I have done/what the eyes should look like (last image)! Essentially I am trying to get the eye to look how it was when it was under Texture Coordinate (Object). In terms of UVs, I've tried unwrapping angle based and spherical projection.

Meta What takes the most time in your Blender workflow?

I'm curious about the biggest pain points in your Blender workflow. Which tasks take the most time or effort, or feel unnecessarily repetitive?

Whether it's modeling, UVs, materials, rigging, animation, rendering, or something else—I'd love to hear what slows you down.

I don't why this is, but it just doesn't want to go away no matter what I do, and it's been like this since I modeled the dang thing. I don't know how to fix it, I've tried deleting and re-filling the faces, subdivision, triangulating them, converting to quads, changing the shader settings MULTIPLE TIMES, un-subdividing it, and I've even considered starting over. Please help.

EDIT: clear custom normals data

Unsolved How can I make the output of Point to Curve Node the same as Mesh to Curve?

Thumbnail

Figure 1 shows the original mesh. I cut a line into it using the knife tool and set it as a vertex group. This vertex group distinguishes between faces with and without lines. Then, I used a Mesh to Curve node to convert it into a curve, and then back into points.

I want the Point to Curve node to give the same result as Mesh to Curve (Figure 2). How can I do this?

I've been struggling with this for days. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Unsolved Did Blender 5.2 change how procedural textures are mapped?

version 4.5
Version 5.2

If you look at these two images you'll see that the mapping of the procedural textures on the landscape are very different. Its a large procedural material with lots of mixed noise and voronoi textures across the base color and normal inputs. The files are identical though. One is opened in Blender 4.5 and then saved and opened in 5.2 and they look very different.

Has anybody run into this issue before and know what might be causing the major differences in how the textures are mapped?

Solved Is there a way to make the fire white and transparent?

I want the fire gif to be both transparent and white, but the opacity is linked to the brightness and i don't know enough about nodes, is there a way to put a filter between the BSDF and the output that would make it change color? or any other way to keep it's transparency that isn't linked to brightness?
