The EGC Masters Fall is almost here!

Elite Gaming Channel is proud to present the latest edition of the EGC Masters Fall - Season 2. Featuring a $20,000 prize pool sponsored by World’s Edge! From August 22 to September 20, the world’s strongest players will compete in the first event of the new competitive season.

In keeping with the tradition set by the EGC Masters events, we will be using the same format as last year, with only minor changes to the size of the series. We are adding more best-of-3 matches to the main event, which should lead to plenty of surprises.

This standalone Masters event marks a major beginning in the EGC Masters – Season 2. No points, no circuit, just one competition for the title of the EGC Masters Fall Champion and a significant share of the $20,000 prize pool.

Event Concept

The top eight players in the Tournament Elo rating on August 15 will get a seat for the main event, starting on August 29.

The qualification stage will consist of two unique days, with a maximum of 128 players per day. Players will compete in a single-elimination bracket, with only four players qualifying each day. For the qualifiers, the map pool will consist of 8 maps.

Three additional maps will be added to the Main Event, including a brand new EGC map inspired by Age of Empires II, EGC – Golden Stream.

The qualifiers are happening on August 22-23.

The Main Event will consist of two stages, the first of which will be a GSL group stage style in four groups of 4 players. The final stage will be a double elimination playoff format.

How to Get In

If you are willing to compete, you can follow these steps:

  • Join our discord here.
  • If you have not already done so, create a Start.gg account here.
  • Fill the registration form here.
  • Read and learn the rules in the handbook here.

Discussion Ottoman early game?

I'm trying to learn ottoman, but i noticed how SLOW they are at the early game

Constantly being rushed in dark and feudal feels almost impossible to stop.

Even against ottomans themselves.

Like, building a school isn't enough to deterr or lessen a french knight harassment.

Plus, the lack of eco bonuses makes it nigh impossible to catch up if they deny your gold.

How do y'all survive at the begining?

Discussion Is KT 2TC camping the new super meta or what?

I feel like I am going mad. In my last 20 games 10!. Ten. I repeat T E N were against KT and most of them were 2TC boom. I had 3 English campers, but in Plat English is still omega popular, I get it. But if I see another KT I am gonna cry. At least when everyone was playing Ottos it was a quick death, but now win or lose - its a against a 2TC boom

Is anyone having the same KT experience or I just got crazy unlucky?

EDIT; Just to be clear, its not that I dont understand how to play against them. I am just shocked that out of what, 20 civs, I see mostly 2

Discussion Is it always like this in the beginning of a new Season?

Hi, guys.

So it's the first time I play at the very beginning of a new season. I've been losing a lot of games in a row, it's a bit odd. Then I get to AoEWorld and notice that I'm playing guys who were, like, Diamond in last season (I was Gold III for the whole season, I only got to Platinum II the last week). So it is normal that we are going to have to play against people that are actually higher levels than us because they are playing their placements match and the matchmaking put them against us? It is kind of anti-stimulant to know that for the next couple of weeks this is going to happen.

What is your experience on starting seasons? It's the first time I experience it.

Modding Trade posts missing in random map, any mod to fix this?

10 matches now without a single one in random map versus my friend. I feel like I'm being shafted every time as I like factions that do a lot with them, tributaries etc.

Is there a mod that fix this issue? with random maps or in general. We both agree there should always be at least one trade post on a map. Not sure why the devs don't do so.

Any help would be appreciated.

Always love hitting them with the "GG WP"...simple and high road. But always open to more creative suggestions. Ironically....this guy was playing English.

Ranked Do smurfs get banned or not?

Played two games back to back and got wrecked, I'm pretty bad as a gold player which is fair. I make a lot of dumb mistakes.

I check my opponent and he is Silver III for 1500 games. Weird. I check his AOE4 and he has matches that last about 0 minutes. So he obviously wins against gold players and then just surrenders two games. His AOE4 World account.

I reported but is anything done in these situations? That's two placement matches lost to a smurf account. I mean I know it's just a game yadda yadda but damn, I gotta go to work soon. I play two or three games a day and this is the kind of thing I'm up against.

Discussion Wonder why Jin having a fine winrate

I was actually wondering if Jin was any good before, until I saw someone charge his entire army into Pagoda Forest, get the whole army converted, and rage quit.

WOW. Like, wow.

Now I know: people lose to Jin not because Jin is actually that good, but because they have no clue what Jin is like. They are not losing to the civ; they are losing because they lack information.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here are some ideas:

Jin will probably send some Iron Pagodas for harassment in Age II. No worries! Keep in mind that this is not a very good unit. The range of its passive AoE, which costs so much, is tiny and mostly negligible. So all you need to do is spam some spearmen.

If you see Mohe Tribesmen, which are ranged cavalry units, poking your spearmen, don't panic. Keep in mind that this is probably their worst unit by far: it costs more while having less health. So all you need to do is spam archers. You should win the fight if you have roughly the same number, and it's never too late because Mohe Tribesmen take extra time to produce.

If the enemy sends Bed Crossbows, that shouldn't be a problem either. The second shot from this unit will almost always miss the target at long range, basically turning it into a Springald with half the damage. So play a little defensively, and this unit shouldn't bother you too much.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now, how to win:

Counterweight Trebuchets.

Most people nowadays prefer quicker games, but Jin is an opponent that requires patience.

Charging your army directly into Jin is almost always a bad idea—not because of their units, but because of the Meng'an Mouke from their towers.

In that case, Counterweight Trebuchets are all you need. Have three or four of them protected by spearmen and archers, with some crossbowmen mixed into the ranged group just in case. Then slowly push forward, tower by tower.

There really shouldn't be much Jin can do to stop you.

Discussion How do you beat Berkshire Palace/English turtle

Good morning community,

I am a lowly gold player who enjoys playing HRE and Golden Horde. There are some civs/matchups that I consistently struggle with.

One is the English turtle strat and specifically the Berkshire Palace. I have thrown army after army against English opponents who camp under it to no avail. I tried rams, cannons, and trebs and the Berkshire literally machine guns down my long range siege. So I usually just try to attack elsewhere but on certain maps and with good positioning, the damn thing pretty much covers everything.

Games devolve into these long drawn out stalemates, I eventually run outta gold or other resource, then I die. What can you do against a turtle English and more specifically Berkshire?

Also fun story. I won this matchup the other day. Beginning of game followed same pattern. They turtled when 2 tc and I did my best to harass but they were buttoned up solid. After losing a couple armies, I said screw it and built a wonder. Then they had to come to me in a wonderful. Chefs kiss ironic moment... They lost wave after wave of armies and siege. I used nights to pick em off. It seemed inevitable I would win but with 2 mins left I almost had huge choke. They hot a new angle and I didn't notice 3 cannons blasting wonder. Wonder goes down to like 50 HP as I pull all vill, hot emergency repair, and my knights rushed to kill cannons. Literally one shot away from losing after all that. Was an epic win but clearly not a reliable/repeatable strategy. All advice welcome, cheers

Discussion do we know if they are going to fix the placement bug anytime soon?

Discussion A stupid problem of mine.

I'm not that indecisive in general but it has been almost 500 hours of gameplay in Aoe4. I really like this game. However it's so difficult to choose one civ to concentrate on.

Recently I had a plan to play skirmishes with the hardest ai and play all the civs one by one. With this method I wanted to do like a tournament and after the Hardest ai get to an AI more difficult and stick with a civ with which I could beat ridiculous or even more difficult ai.

(Yeah, it sounds stupid right now😭😅)

I played like 13 civs at this point. I lost only with China because I wanted to do prof scouts and I forgot to make units. And with Dehli because I was against OOTD and I couldn't do anything against man-at-arms.

I make this thread because I need opinions or advices how I can end this crazy loop of playing one civ and after wanted to choose another one.

Discussion Completing campaign still doesnt unlock reward or achievement

Played through the Norman Campaign, and there is this problem with save load that prevents from unlocking achievement. I replayed the final mission start to finish and no luck. I dont want to replay it all tbh.
I searched for other threads and the newest i found is in 2022. Is this still a problem after years?
Can someone enlighten me?
