Fluff I encountered a korean sentence in the wild that had 3 words in it I learned in the last month through Anki
It felt incredible.
The words and sentence below for anyone curious.
색출, 명분, 장악 are the words I learned
범인을 반드시 색출하겠다는 명분으로 자신의 사병들을 풀어 왕궁을 장악했다.

Development Looking for a dev or AI-builder: A minimalist, high-dopamine Anki add-on (weaponizing addiction loops)
Current Anki speed and gamification add-ons are either too dry or bloated with 3,000 settings and massive panels. The missing piece is the direct weaponization of addiction mechanics: leveraging the exact psychological triggers of social media and mobile games—instant feedback loops, relentless visual momentum, and forced behavioral conditioning—to hook the brain and make studying impossible to put down.
I want to see a sleek, high-intensity add-on natively integrated directly into the Anki review interface designed to make reviewing intensely, viscerally addictive while staying completely discreet. The concept fuses a stripped-down speed and streak engine that enforces daily consistency, an endless chain of frictionless, hyper-accessible micro-goals that constantly trigger completion dopamine hits, a virtual ghost clone racing against your moving average, a real-time countdown of the exact time left to clear your daily backlog, and local focus tracks unlocked step-by-step to lock you into the flow.
I don't have time to code, and forcing an AI to build a stable UI plugin from scratch always ends in a debugging loop. If a developer wants to take on the project, or if someone wants to use this blueprint to generate it cleanly with an AI, help yourselves.
Thoughts?

Question Question regarding cramming
How do I get the app to let me review an unlimited amount of times. Review ahead no longer works and the deck is actively hiding the cards from me for some reason. I have even increased daily reviews to no avail. Why would an app even have this feature?

Question Long delay (~9 days) when i press the good button.
galleryI'm having a problem with learning new card in anki. if I press the Good button, it only shows the card after 9 days, which by then I probably forgot it completely.
it's only after I press the Hard button once (15 mins delay) the Good button becomes a reasonable delay (1-3 days).
I'm using the FSRS algorithm and those are my statistics.
Learning and Relearning steps are both 10m.
Desired Retention set to 90%.
I suspected maybe the issue could be misusing the Hard button on previous reviews. But when I turned on the option to ignore reviewed cards before a specific date, nothing changed.
I'd appreciate some help.

Question How do I change this setting?
Used Anki in med school and in back at it. When I quit Anki years ago, it would have 1 day the 3 days followed by 5 and 7 days. Rarely would I see a button asking me to see again in 1.3 months

Question Why do my cards follow this pattern of 2-1-3-1 many-few due reviews and how can I make it spread more evenly?
I'm using FSRS and reviewing every day

Question Changing the note type from Lapis to Senren messes up the back side

So I’m trying to change the note type of my entire deck from Lapis to Senren, but the cards end up looking messed up after I do it. (The entire deck is one note type, which is Lapis)
The front side looks fine, but the back side is completely messed up like in the screenshot. I think it has something to do with the fields not matching between the two note types, but I’m not really sure how to fix it. I've been trying and experimenting with one card so far but i do not know what to do.

So my question is what am i supposed to do to fix this?
P.s ( i use yomitan, i do not know if thats relevant or not, but thought to add it just in case)

Thanks in advance!
Development Making my own Anki device
galleryI was making an mp3 player when I saw u/Kubzi0, who saw u/ergomechstore post their DIY Anki devices, so I will join them.
The screen is a touchscreen!! (buttons are satisfying to click, but too loud for a train).
This one can show pictures, although they are loading kinda slow (up to 2-3 seconds). Also, it can emit sound through a mini-jack - it is a little faster, but still you have to wait for a second. Without them - only text (title, explanation, eventually usage in a sentence) is very fast (video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cII57dfN4Yw).
Components:
- ESP32-S3 1.64-inch AMOLED Touch Display, Waveshare
- 4 buttons
- PCM5102a module
- wires
- RTC module (DS3231)
- bread or prototype board
Todo:
- github repo
- Japanese font (have to start learning it someday)
- Anki algorithm with rtc
- buy and add LiPo battery
- solder to prototype board, print case

Question Anki Lagging on Mac After Update
I updated anki on my mac to 26.08.1 a few weeks ago, and ever since then it's been super laggy. I never had this issue before and do not have it on my windows PC. It's not an issue with my laptop because every other app/program functions smoothly. Anyone else having this issue?

Question Listen to Anki like a podcast?
Hi! I’ve recently started going on long walks, and as much as I love listening to music, it gets boring lol is there a way to make an Anki deck “auto play”, as in the card is read and you have time to think of an answer before it tells you, and then it automatically moves to the next card? Does that make sense? Trying to see if there’s a way I can study on my walks without having my phone out haha TIA!

Question Contanki with 8BitDo incorrect button inputs
I used contanki with a previous computer and it worked fine, but I recently bought a new mac and wanted to configure it with my controller. I bound all the buttons to the layout I am used to but no matter what I do, the Y and B button won't do the Again and Hard function respectively. I attached a screenshot of my layout, but every time I test it out on a deck, they just seem to click good or easy.

Question Monetization and piracy in medical Anki decks
Hey! A quick question for anyone who creates their own comprehensive Anki decks:
How do you approach sharing your work?
I've noticed that building a great, error-free deck for example for anatomy, pharmacology, or board exams often takes hundreds of hours of work. On the other hand, the traditional .apkg file means that the moment you share it with one person, it instantly ends up on a public Google Drive for the whole year, and the creator completely loses control and motivation.
I've been looking into this problem and I'm building a platform designed to be a dedicated marketplace. The idea is a place where creators can safely sell their materials, students can rate/review them, and the system—instead of standard files—heavily restricts mass duplication while handling automatic background updates for the decks.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this:
- Do you think this kind of model and making exporting harder makes sense, or is piracy in Anki just impossible to fix?
- What features would such a marketplace need for you to actually want to use it?
If you have any ideas, feedback, or just want to share your thoughts, feel free to drop a comment or a DM—I'd love to chat and make sure this is built right!

Question Configuration profile won't save on Anki/Contanki
I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this, but I recently installed Anki to practice flashcards and bought a 8bitdo micro gamepad to use it as a Anki remote. I added the Contanki addon to the app and I am trying to change the configuration profile from default to answer, try saving and restarting Anki to get the new settings. However it won’t apply the new settings, it stays as the default one and I’ve been trying to change it for the last 45 minutes with no progress. I tried searching and find videos on how to setup, but they essentially tell the same thing. Anyone who has more experience with this and is willing to help? Thanks in advance! (MacOS btw)

Question Repetition intervals are too long, retention too low
Hello everyone,
I have been working with Anki for 5 years and generally have a lot of trust in the algorithm. Now I have exam preparation and a high workload of new cards. So that I don't have too many repetitions, I lowered my desired retention for the FSRS algorithm from 90% to 85%. Now I notice that many cards have intervals when clicking "good" like 2 days - 5 days - 5 days - 30 days.
I notice that this big jump in the intervals is not good for my retention; it is often only at 80% because the older knowledge is being pushed out by many new cards. This is frustrating.
I have now set the retention back to 90% and update the algorithm every few days, so that he notices what problems I have with the large intervals. My exam is in 30 days, and now there's less new material, so I'll just repeat it.
How can I best deal with the situation? Is it worth setting “Reschedule” when updating the algorithm? so that anki shortens the large intervals that still exist?
What are your tips for me in this situation? Thanks!
