Hey everyone, looking for advice or insights from anyone who has dealt with Amazon UK outright denying a return refund, keeping the item, ignoring OFM, and trapping an account in a restriction loop.
The Problem: Refund Denied & Defective Item Kept (£185.71)
The Item & Timeline: Purchased a projector worth £185.71 back in December 2025.
The Defect & Return: After ~9 months of use, the projector became defective. I booked a faulty item return on 29 August 2026.
Speedy Denial: Just 3 to 4 hours after the courier collected the item on 29 August, Amazon sent an automated email outright denying my refund request.
Delivery Proof: Despite the instant denial, the item was delivered via Royal Mail (VX277842918GB) and signed for at Amazon’s Princess Royal Parcel Hub on 01 September 2026.
Account Closure: Immediately after, Amazon closed/restricted my account. They are refusing to issue a refund or return the physical projector, essentially keeping both my money and the faulty hardware.
Legal Violation: Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, consumers are entitled to remedies for faulty goods. Keeping both the returned product and the purchase money with a 3-hour instant refusal is completely indefensible.
OFM Silence: I’ve sent multiple emails to OFM (ofm@amazon.co.uk) providing Royal Mail tracking proof and demanding either the refund or the return of my item, but I’m getting zero response.
The Bank Situation & Chargeback
Bank Account Switch: The original current account used for the purchase back in December was closed/switched out in May 2026, prior to this dispute.
Current Action: I got in touch with my old bank (Lloyds), and they manually opened a formal dispute on my behalf. Because the original account is closed, the bank is handling the payout via internal clearing to route funds to my active current account once and if resolved.
The Glitch: The "Close & Reinstate" Loop
On top of keeping my money and the defective item, my account status is stuck in a bizarre, recurring glitch:
Every 2 days, Amazon re-opens/reinstates the account, but restricts it strictly to "Digital Purchases Only."
Within 48 hours, they close/restrict it again.
The cycle then repeats itself endlessly.
Questions / Advice Needed:
Has anyone won a Visa chargeback after Amazon issued an instant refusal hours after pickup? Will Visa uphold my chargeback since I have Royal Mail signed delivery proof that Amazon physically received the package after their automated denial?
Chargebacks on Closed/Switched Accounts: Has anyone gone through a Visa chargeback where the original bank account was closed? Did the internal clearing process run smoothly between banks once the dispute finalized?
Will this account ever get fully reopened? Has anyone experienced this constant "Digital Purchases Only" reinstatement loop? Is this an automated AI compliance glitch, or is the account permanently dead for physical orders?
Ignoring OFM: Is there any other escalation route that actually forces a human at Amazon to address a denied return when OFM ignores you? I have emailed managing director too, but no response.
Appreciate any advice or real-world experiences!

I ordered a supplement from Amazon.de for 30€, got it in July, and only noticed in August when I actually went to use it that it had been expired for months already.
Emailed Amazon about it and now I’m stuck in an endless loop. No refund, no real answer, just template replies that don’t even match my issue. On top of that they closed my account, so I can’t even reach them via chat anymore to sort it out.
At this point it feels like Amazon is just ignoring local consumer protection laws and hoping people give up. Anyone else dealt with this? What actually worked for you?

Update: solved, maybe!
The first time I tried to pay for everything my payment got rejected so it authorized another credit card which Amazon website Whole Foods accepted, but it seems like the vendors didn't accept it.
I think I figured it out. I think there's a glitch. Whenever any card gets rejected, I think there's a flaw with their system, where even if it accepts your secondary form of payment after the first one gets rejected, that message doesn't get relayed to the vendor. This has happened before, I believe. My first attempt at payment was rejected because of lack of funds so they gave me the opportunity to run another card which they authorized and accepted. Maybe there's a gap between them seeing the first rejection and not seeing the second one.
Original post:
Sorry if this isn't relevant for Amazon prime, I'm hungry and my head hurts and I didn't look to see if there was an Amazon Whole Food crybaby page. Clearly, I need one.
I'm hungry, I've been hungry all day, my head hurts, what the hell man. I was tipping $10. I'm disabled, I don't have a car, this was my option. I can't afford GrubHub doordash whatever.
Does this have to do with sharing my account with my ex who comes to my house everyday but doesn't live with me anymore? We share things like accounts and cards until the split is finalized.

Starting in August I've ordered around 5-6 collectible figures, funko pops, and normal daily usage items, and it seems like they do not send international orders in padded boxes anymore! It's just a paper bag and it arrived to me as a 2D bag! I didn't even imaging in my life to see a 2D 3D figure! I've returned around 8-9 orders in August, which higher than my average of 0. Don't they see that in August they lost more money from me that would at least make them consider if something is wrong? I did call them to complain about no boxes and they said they apologize for no boxes but they can't control it, and they gave me Amazon credit (which I used to buy items which also came damaged so go figure).

Not only do APP users get Similar Image Search but they get better Search Results than me searching THE SAME THING. I'm sick of searching for a whole school day for an item that shows up on someone elses results first thing!

So I have been a reliable prime member for years. Their prime 1-2 day delivery is now officially over. Why are they advertising I'll get these items in 1-2 days when it's now taking a week. I did it today and plan to do it monthly. If they keep delaying I'm going to complain to customer service and get a monthly refund back for prime membership. I'm not paying for benefits I'm not receiving and I hope many others for the same thing.
Once enough people hit them where it hurts, they will fix the issue .
I'm also looking at target and Walmart delivery service as well.

I can't wait hours, hungry, for another grocery delivery that is declined in the 11th hour. I just realized it's happened before. And that's another time when I had insufficient funds on one card and replaced it with another, but the problem is, they're telling me they accept the second card.
But something in the system doesn't.
Unfortunately, I don't learn this second payment hasn't been accepted until hours later, when the order is running late with the promise to arrive, and then abruptly canceled after it's already late.
And they don't even say that it was a card issue, you have to chat with them to find out. When they told me my payment was canceled, I said "yes, the first one was, and then you authorized payment on a different card."
They gave me a $25 gift card. This hypoglycemic headache is more expensive than $25.
So i think there's an issue. This has happened more than once. That's because I don't always have a balance on my food stamp card. But why would their system say it accepts my second payment and go from red screen to the green which means go and processed and why was it authorized but not accepted?

I received a delivery today and it was a little odd. The proof of delivery picture did not match the actual delivery. The picture shows 1 tall box leaned up against the side wall of the front porch. What actually came was one smaller box and one paper mailer which were left directly in front of the door on the mat (which is missing in the picture). I guess it’s not a big deal since the actual items were correct. However,…
1.Does that mean that they save pictures of packages/our homes? And if so,
1b. How would the customer be able to prove either damage or non-delivery of a package if the driver can just pull up and insert a pic from a previous delivery?
Has this happened to anyone else before? I probably wouldn’t have even paid attention if I hadn’t been reading the horror stories of disputes on this sub.

Hello! I recently tried using a Visa giftcard to buy some groceries in Amazon, but after trying to pay, my account got put on hold. They need a billing statement that I don’t have (because it’s a giftcard), and I can’t contact customer service due to needing my account. What do I do?

Tried India customer service and they just broken record. 90% of my packages show up at 9pm or later and at that hour they're basically waiting to be stolen. I'm -trying- to get Amazon to deliver the next day if that's the case and thus far, I just get someone from India telling me this is impossible to avoid. I don't believe it - this can't be right.

Anyone experienced anything similar ? Seems super weird, they’re stuffed in there sooo tight I can barely even get them out

Next time, it’ll be marked as “unsafe due to dog and returned to station”. Idgaf if it’s friendly, a bigger dog, brown black running at my van and barking looking like some German shepherd. Don’t have time to call and wait for you to put your dog away.
Your package arrived and is fine. “Another safe location” next time put your dog away.
ZION, Illinois.
Also… if your delivery notes on your front door are in Spanish…. Package goes to front door. I don’t speak Spanish. If your notes say “back door only”, we’re not required to deliver to back door anymore PER my DSP manager. Amazon set that policy.

I order pretty frequently for both my business and personal and for the last six months I’ve noticed a clear decline in service. The “now arriving tomorrow” has become commonplace and often they still don’t even meet that date.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO AMAZON PRIME
<new update: they didn’t even meet the ‘now arriving tomorrow’>

My Subscribe & Save delivery, along with a couple of other items, was supposed to be delivered a week ago. "Track Package" simply tells me what I already know ("Your delivery is taking longer than expected") and offers me no other option than to cancel. But, of course, that means I either don't get the items or have to pay a premium price for my trouble.
There's no longer a chat option, just a recursive loop. Another forum suggested that I get them to call me back. The poor woman could barely speak English and just kept telling me she was sorry the order was delayed.
This is well beyond "enshitification."

As a loyal Amazon Prime member who spends thousands annually, I am highly disappointed by their declining customer service and most recent shady tactic. I recently returned a defective bean bag chair (Order 114-6488134-0XXXXXXX) because the seams broke within a couple of weeks. After waiting a month, my refund was denied. When I called for an explanation, I was told my account showed "abnormal activity" and was asked to upload a government-issued ID. Their email states that if I refuse, I can keep shopping but cannot get my refund nor ask questions about it. If my account truly has abnormal activity, it should be restricted. Forcing an ID upload for a legitimate return feels like a tactic to avoid issuing a refund. I think I am finally done with store for good after I get this situation resolved.

I mixed up my return labels because the packaging is identical but the item barcode on it is different. Clicking on the return status, it says refunded and they have received the item. Just felt so stupid because I made a mental note to double check and yet I still messed it up. So if they put it back into stock, the next person to receive it will get the wrong item. It's only a $20 phone case but still.

I ordered the Metallica - Garage Inc. on vinyl. It shows up on the autorip list as eligible for Amazon Music (it should show up under "My Purchases") and even Rufus said it was eligible, but Amazon customer service says it's not and that only the cd is. The funny thing is, I ordered "...And Justice For All" on vinyl and it's #81 on the list right below "Garage Inc." and it showed up in My Purchases on Amazon Music. Make it make sense.
