question Do you think zombies created by a virus or by nuclear radiation is creepier, and why?
galleryI mean both can be creepy. But if you had to pick an edge what would be scarier and why?

discussion Why does nobody talk about transportation and fuel in a long-term zombie apocalypse?
I’ve been thinking about this while watching zombie movies/shows, and I feel like transportation gets massively overlooked.
People always talk about food, guns, medicine, shelters, etc., but fuel seems like one of the biggest problems after the first couple of years. Gasoline and diesel don't stay usable forever, especially without proper storage and maintenance. So let's say we're 2–3 years into an outbreak. Most easily accessible fuel has either degraded, been contaminated, or already been used.
So what are people actually using for transportation at that point?
And before someone says horses sure, horses are an obvious answer, but there's another problem. If the infection can affect animals too, horses aren't exactly a reliable solution. And even if domestic animals aren't infected, maintaining enough horses, feeding them, protecting them, and breeding them becomes a huge logistical problem.
Then there's something else that shows completely ignore:
The wilderness isn't automatically safe just because there are fewer zombies.
If you're travelling through forests, mountains, fields, or abandoned rural areas, you're potentially dealing with wolves, bears, big cats, boars, venomous snakes, etc. And if the fictional infection can infect animals?
Now imagine encountering an infected bear.
Suddenly "let's just go through the forest" doesn't sound like such a great transportation strategy.
So I'm curious what the realistic long-term transportation system would actually look like after 2–3 years.
Would survivors realistically rely on:
Bicycles?
Horses or other domesticated animals?
Electric vehicles powered by solar/wind systems?
Diesel generators and stored fuel?
Trains?
Boats?
Animal-drawn carts?
Homemade biofuel/ethanol?
Walking being the dominant form of transportation?
Some combination depending on distance?
And then there's the infrastructure problem. Roads deteriorate, bridges fail, vehicles need spare parts, tires degrade, batteries die, engines require lubricants and maintenance, and eventually you're dealing with abandoned vehicles everywhere.
I'm especially interested in what transportation would look like 10+ years into an apocalypse, when gasoline stations are basically useless, modern supply chains are gone, and replacement parts are extremely difficult to obtain.
Most zombie fiction seems to treat vehicles as if they just keep working indefinitely.
What do you guys think would actually become the dominant form of transportation in a realistic long-term apocalypse?

discussion I always find it ironic and funny that despite Crossed being the most disgusting and disturbing comic book franchise of all time, it's fanbase or the people that consumes it are actually one of the most reasonable non toxic unproblematic people around. Like how?

book 📚 Virus or bacteria?
I'm working on a zombie story, and I'm wondering if it makes any difference if it all started with a virus or a bacteria. What's the difference between these two? Which one would make more sense?

review Grindhouse style film that was kind of all over the place, and don’t really see much zombie action until close to the third act.

movie 📽️ Days Gone - The Movie?
Most if us gamers are familiar with Days Gone. It came out in 2019. I have played it a couple of times. Just like William "Boozer" Gray, Deacon St. John is one of the two main characters.
Also, just like The Last of Us, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill, these have become movies based on the games. I was wondering in the (near) future, we will see a theatrical release of Days Gone - The Movie? I would love to see it become a reality.
Russell Crowe could play Deacon. And maybe Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could be Boozer.
Would you go and see it in theaters? Have you played the game in its entirety? How would you rate Days Gone as a game?

meme / lighthearted Dawn of the Dead: That dog was evil
From what I remember, it's like the only dog we see and the zombies don't care about it.
Right after finding it, ninja zombie takes someone out and the horde comes.
Attaches to the girl, the most impressionable one of the group.
Led to the zombies getting into Andy's shop.
In the end credits, the dog runs off, barking, and a zombie horde comes.
That dog was evil.

recommendations Rec Some Unique Takes On Zombies In Comic Books?
Looking for some zombie comics with some unique concepts to them! I love a good slow moving, rotting, groaning zombie but they get a bit boring once you’ve seen too many of them.
The Walking Dead is obviously out here. It’s iconic but that’s part of why it’s not so unique… since it probably made permanent cultural effects on the genre as a whole both in comics and TV!
What would you recommend?

discussion Has anyone else read World War Z after COVID?
I first read the book about a decade ago, but revisiting it now, especially after the COVID pandemic, offered such a different perspective. I was shocked at how similarly the characters in the book handled (or mishandled) certain aspects of a global crisis, and I was particularly moved by the real toll the experience seemed to take on the folks who survived.
Anyway, I was compelled to share with other zombie fans. Apologies if this topic has already been explored.

movie 📽️ Just watched Dead Air for the first time Spoiler
I went in with no expectations and honestly just put it on to fall asleep to. It ended up sucking me in and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They do a great job of portraying the mass confusion and I love the concept of following the team in the radio station as they try to figure out what’s going on from callers. There were definitely some cheesy parts but this movie far exceeded my expectations.

discussion Would this idea realistically work in case of zombie apocalypse?
Why wouldn’t people just move to rafts and boats that rely on solar to survive? I mean with the use of a vegetable gardens solar and wind energy a water desalination device and an electric motor you could totally just live out at sea correct? I mean I don’t think zombies can swim due to little to no muscle coordination and punctured lungs. plus the zombies would probably completely decompose after at most a few years? I mean I might be wrong with some crucial detail I’m missing or?

discussion How would you rewrite the Battle of Yonkers? (So the failure makes sense)
Ok, so WWZ. The book written by Max Brooks. Slow shamblers. Undead. Bodily fluids transmission only. The zombies' blood is too congealed to bleed.
The point was as much to broadcast a clean win to the public as it was to kill zombies. They ended up broadcasting a catastrophic loss.
Max brooks had the zombies coming out of new York walk through artillery and gunship fire. Thermobaric munitions included.
The military was on the ground, in trenches they had just dug, in full chemical gear, on a notably hot summer.
Everyone I have ever seen talking about that scene says it makes no sense, and that Mark Hamil's voice does the heavy lifting.
How would you write it to get the same result? The point is that the US military has to lose in a way that achieve the exact opposite of the win they needed for propaganda?

game 🎮 I spent 4 years making a hex based bunker survival game inspired by 60 Seconds and Project Zomboid. The demo is finally out and I would love to hear what fans think!
galleryHi everyone! I’m the solo developer behind From The Bunker, a zombie survival management game I’ve been working on for the past four years.
The gameplay mixes 60 Seconds and Project Zomboid. Manage a group of survivors, expand and defend their bunker, send them on dangerous expeditions, and make difficult choices across more than 200 narrative events.
The world and story are inspired by what I love about Resident Evil: a viral outbreak caused by a biotech corporation, missing virus samples, secret experiments, military operations, and a dangerous bioengineered creature.
The free demo is available now on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1782590/From_The_Bunker/
