Subject of the Day Social Sundays

Hello WriteStreakians! I hope you've been having a lovely weekend! It’s Social Sunday once again! What I'd like for you to do is the following:

  1. peruse the posts written by your fellow WriteStreakians and find a post that interests you, preferably one from within the last seven days, and respond to it. Leave a comment that is at least as long as a Tweet (280 characters), and then
  2. copy and paste your comment into your own daily Streak post so the correctors can review it.

That's it! Of course, if your comment sparks a conversation (or if someone else leaves a comment on one of your posts), you're welcome and encouraged to continue the conversation---this is a social media site, after all!

Happy Sunday!

Game 🎲 Fictionary

Hi everyone! Good morning, I hope you're all having a great day!

Today we're going to be playing a game! 🤩

If anyone has ever played Jackbox before, this game is going to be very similar to their game, Dictionarium. Except, I'm not calling it Dictionarium because I don't want to get into trouble with copyright 🙃 So we'll be calling it... Fake-tionary! (Or maybe Fictionary? Ooh, yeah, let's go with Fictionary! 🤓)

The rules of Fictionary are simple: you choose a random obscureadjective 3 word or phrase and do your best to come up with a definition for that word. Today, you can choose between a real word or a fake word.

Rules

  1. Uncover a word from the table below. 🔍 You can choose to pick from the "Real Word" column or the "Fake Word" column.
  2. If you chose from the "Real Word" column, your Streak today will be about you guessing what that word means and then checking to see how close you were to the real answer. 🤔
  3. If you chose from the "Fake Word" column, your Streak today will be about you inventing a new word. 🤔
  4. Check to see how close you were using a dictionary. I recommend https://www.merriam-webster.com/ or https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page .
  5. If you're really up for a challenge, use your word in a sentence or find a synonym for the word.

Example

I chose the fake word "nicribition." I know that the suffix "tion" means it's the act of doing something, so this word is a noun that comes from the fake verb, to "nicribe." I see "cribe" in there, which makes me think of "scribe," which means "to write." The root "nicr" also makes me think of the prefix "necro," which means "death." So I think the word "nicribition" means "the act of writing an epitaphnoun on a tombstone."

The Game!

Ready? Let's go! The lower on the table, the harder it will be to guess the meaning! The higher, the easier

Real Word Fake Word
impracticality grobinated
nonplussed intentomalites
inhibition centruphicism
hagiography trefulous
pleonasm debutstallingly

Vocabulary from this Post

  • obscure - rarely known
  • epitaph - message written on a tombstone to remember someone

Correct Me! Streak 5: Do our dreams have to come true?

Upvotes

I was reading a post on Reddit where someone said that US Politics won't stop them from living their dream and traveling to the US.

I have my own dreams. I'm dreaming of going to New-York once in my life and eat a street hotdog. I've been wanting that since I was a kid, when I watched Starsky and Hutch on TV! I'm dreaming of visiting Northern Europe with its fjords, its dimmed and colored lights, its bicycle culture, and its cool air. I'm dreaming of living by the Atlantic Ocean once I'm retired.

Honestly, there's a little chance I'll ever fulfill most of my dreams because I'm a creature of habits. But that got me thinking about dreams we have in life, like the things we say we'd like to do before we die. Do our dreams have to come true? I often tell myself they're better off inside my head. They can stay beautiful and undamaged. I'm not sure I want to put any of them at risk.

I'll turn 22 in November 14th and I'm so afraid because yet i don't have anything to do in my life i want to do something creative. I tried drawing, writing and so many things i didn't like anything i think, they say it's normal in that period of age, so ok...

Correct Me! Streak 186,I watched the video that some people fall in love with the AI.

I watched the video that some people fall in love with the AI.

Some people have low self-esteem, but there were also passionate individuals who were eager to succeed.

They chat with an AI and AI flatters them, they open up to AI and then AI replies them what they want to hear.

So, they fall in love with the AI.

However, in the end the video shows that their situation doesn't get any better than before.
It is cruel video.

Correct Me! Streak 3: Today was a good day

Hi. How are you? Hope everything goes well.

Today, I've seen a bunch of new topics about a specific thing, which i'm getting into a little bit more everyday.

Yesterday was not a good day at all, I was having trouble with basic things, that it's supposed to be easy to me.

If we see my previously studies, it makes any sense that I was having trouble with the thing I was dealing with yesterday.

I think it was more a question of what was I thinking at this moment, and not my truly capacity to understand this specific things.

I can say that right now because today i've studied what I was having trouble with yesterday. And it's not hard for me at all.

May be because I didn’t sleep well yesterday and, today, I have slept around 8h30. Here’s the difference.

All this to say that I will make more attention to my sleep hygiene.

There are those who supposedly can study even with bad sleep… Well, i'm not inside this exception.

That’s all for today. Thank you for reading.

Correct Me! Streak 106: Screening tests by age

Article: What Health Screening Tests You May Need By Age

I know I need to get some health screenings, but I don't like going to the doctor. Some screening tests can be painful. I only get a few basic screenings each year, such as blood pressure checks, blood tests. and ECGs.

Correct Me! Streak 309: Hang out

I worked from home today. It has been raining all day, so I decided to stay home instead.

Tomorrow, I’m going to an American burger place with my friend.
It’ll be his last day in Taiwan, and the next day, he’ll leave Taiwan and fly back to Singapore.

I hope we’ll get to see each other soon because I don’t have many friends I can hang out with that often.

Correct Me! Streak 798

Even after 798 days of writing daily, I still have days like today: I don't know what to write about. Or in more honest words: I've had a long day and I'm just not motivated to find a suitable topic and to write a full text about it. So instead, I'm doing a little trick I've learned during the last 797 days: I write about the fact that I don't know what to write about. And to give me the satisfaction of a full-on text instead of just the three sentences I set myself as the minimum for a post to qualify as a 'streak', i just use a more elaborate vocabulary and construct a bit more complex sentences. It's a fancy way of writing 'I'm tired. I don't know what to say. This is a streak.'

Correct Me! Streak 180

I might have written about this before but getting rid of bad habits is way harder than creating new habits. Bad habits are generally poisonous to you but at the same time so tempting that it{s hard to stop doing it, such as eating unhealthy snacks or at least not cutting down on eating them. That's one of my bad habits, I can't control myself.

I’m really surprised by the capabilities of AI in regards to math. A couple of years ago AI was so crappy when it comes to math. Yesterday I decided to test it again to explain me some proofs that I did some months ago and I forgot. It did a great job.

There are some AI models that are not available yet to the general public, but these models are solving hard problems in math. Recently, one of these models solved some decades problems. This is causing uncertainty among mathematicians.

Correct Me! Streak 724: Legs

I’ve always thought that the legs of birds, especially those of small ones look pretty feeble considering the weight they have to support. The phrase “chicken leg” is sometimes used as an insult, but their actual legs look proportionally steadier than those of little birds. Even though they’re light, they still look too thin to me. Then again, I suppose you can argue that human legs look pretty feeble as well for things that hold roughly 20 to 40kg of weight per unit or much more in some cases.

Correct Me! Streak 66: Changing Routine

Since the fall semester started, I have been waking up 30 minutes earlier. On the first day of the new semester, I woke up very easily with high expectations. This morning, however, it was hard to get out of bed with a smile. It was probably because of this small change in my routine—specifically, my wake-up time.

Correct Me! Streak 4: What if glitches were signs?

The network on my cell phone is terrible today, and I can't send pictures to my sisters. I wandered the floor to find a spot with a better signal, but I came up short.

That got me thinking about signs. You know, when an external event mirrors what's going on inside.

I've often experimented that kind of phenomenon in a relationship when we were having a rift. It's as if the rift extented to devices and prevented us from communicating. Then, when the relationship was good again, no more glitches.

Correct Me! Streak 185, When do you think the halfway point of life is?

A few days ago, I watched a video about the human brain.

It claimed that if you live to 80, the halfway point of your life is 18.

The hook caught my attention, so I kept watching.

When I was younger, time went so slow, but now it passes so quickly.

That's because when we try new things without any experience , our brains are busy learning, which makes those memories last longer.

On the other hand, the brain doesn't need to remember familiar routines, so time seems to pass quickly.

Ultimately The video told me if you want your life to feel richer and different from others, you need to seek out new experiences.

Correct Me! Streak 105: The stages of aging

Article: A Guide to the Stages of Aging

According to the article, there are various ways to define the stages of aging. I don't think the stages that are divided by age are that important. I believe the biological and physiological changes matter more.

It seems that many people over 65 start to face some health problems. I want to try exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet to maintain my health.

Correct Me! Streak 2: Getting back into studies

Today I have come back to my technical studies which I was a time without hands-on things and watching the theory needed to put things in practice.

I started around 11 AM and give a break for today at 5 PM. I didn't really sleeped well, every day I sleep around 7-8 hours, but today I have slept only 5-6 hours.

I decided to not make anything more today because I was feeling exausthed, I wasn't understanding things that it was supposed to be easy to understand. I realized it was easy after taking a break of five minutes, then coming back to the desk and realizing that it was not that deep as I was thinking it was. So after that, i realized I couldn't do more today. I'm taking a break and will sleep well today, tomorrow I will get back.

That's all for today, thank you for reading.

Correct Me! Streak 2 : Unstable

Today i wanna talk about my unstable energy, i have feelings recently that I'm not stable at all; like feelings more energy in first of the day and very down in rest regardless of my sleep schedule.

I'm always asking myself is that if emotions and stress had any effects related to that?!

I notice also that exercise is very helpful but then it's becoming like a big duty that drain my energy with overtaking, mostly i think the problem is with my life style is very bad and i hope it'll be better soon.

Correct Me! Streak 2: Bedtime thoughts

We bought a new house recently. We bought it for an investment and for rent it to someone to make money. We designed it pretty good and well-furnished. So, before long a doctor couple took it. The wardrobe was too small for two people, so we bought a new and bigger one. Because it was from ikea, it came in boxes and I had to assemble them. This was my today’s business. I also did some cleaning in home, and I really got tired at last. But I had quite the time with the assembly. I think I’m really good at such things and feel great when I do it.

We quickly packed up our things and rushed into the cefeteria. Even though we reacted so quickly, we still got pretty wet/ we ended up getting quite wet.

Correct Me! Streak 308: Feel Insecure

I went to the night market in Wanhua with my singaporean friend today. For some reason, I felt really insecure tonight. I think it was probably because his Chinese is way better than my English. Even though I've been seriously learning English for almost 2 years, I still struggle to find the right words sometimes. However, last week, I went out with a Canadian girl, and she told me that my English was fluent, or maybe she was just being nice, I don't know. Am I rushing myself too much when it comes to seeing progress?

Correct Me! Streak 797

During the week when I leave the house in the morning, I meet one particular neighbour of mine. She has a little dog she's walking. It has a little underbite and it trotts really determined, like it's very importantly going about it's business. We smile and greet as we walk past each other and then I go about my day. Later, when I'm on my way home, without fail, we meet again. We spot each other from a distance, lock eyes and laugh, and when we walk past each other, we do a little bit where we're like 'well well well, that's how we meet again' or 'see you tomorrow, same time'. Her little dog leads her away in a very detemined way and I go about my evening. I really like these little moments. They're so harmless and nice; just two people (and a very busy little dog) going about their days, crossing paths for a few seconds, making each other smile, and then parting ways again. Until the next time that little dog has to pee.

Correct Me! Streak 723: Sick for two weeks

As I wrote before, I’ve been feeling sick for a while. Unfortunately, it’s been going the way I anticipated. My guess was that it would go on for a couple of weeks. I mentioned it first in streak 709, which means I’ve been sick for at least two weeks straight. I’ve been trying to go to bed early, but it’s hard to get more than eight hours of sleep because of work.
