🖼️ • Photos So much potential
Garage office/studio. Room is 20 x 13. 2 windows. Mini split. More room than I know what to do with. 1 setup is for my full-time job. The other is for content/misc. Everything in here we already owned/moved from the house. I know I can make this room magical, but I could use some suggestions.

I feel I get the most value out of a setup like this. I use the Mac as the speakers, touchpad, keyboard, touchID.

🖼️ • Photos Simple Ergo Setup at the Cottage - Charelevoix, QC
Simple setup for work. Keyboard is a Sofle wireless from Aliexpress, with printed wrist wrests, and printed KLP Lame keycaps. Laptop stand is a NEXSTAND K2. Mouse is some no name brand mouse with BT/wired/2.4g, which I surprisingly like a lot.

🖼️ • Photos My humble workspace :)
Hello! For the longest time, going on 7+ years now I’ve been on a minimalism/decluttering spree. I bring an item into my house, say clothes, I remove 1-2 of the same thing. That little habit has really helped keep things under control.
It’s also shown in my desk setups… (Last pic is my old setup). The 27” monitor, the giant gaming rig. It was too much for my nd brain haha. I needed to make this space as visually quiet as possible. So I threw the monitors, the pc into the closet (pc prices have been going nuts so it’d be dumb to completely get rid of it). So I downsized this setup too!!
There is also a MacBook Neo along the bookshelf not really shown.. I just use that and my phone for additional computer work if need be.. I use it mostly to manage my tasks/reminders/to do lists along with the journal on the desk.
Current desk setups:
Desk:
Mid century from Target a few years ago
Pc: Gmktec Evo 2 (Strix halo)
Monitor: IPad paired to pc via SpaceDesk
Clock: IKEA Tjinga
Charger: Anker 3 in 1
Smiley figurines: IKEA
Chair: Herman Miller Aeron (got it on sale)
Cat: adopted a litter from family friend
Bed: Zonli frame + tatami mats + futon + cover.
Bookshelf: Target
Donut lamp: Ikea
Thought I would share with you guys. Hope you have a great day! 😁

🖼️ • Photos What should I add to this setup? (There is now a laptop and laptop stand but aside from that it's pretty barebones)
Also the wires are organised via string - it ain't much but surprisingly effective lol

🖼️ • Photos Whats the most reliable docking station you owned that lasted long?
Looking to buy new docking station, preferably stable, dual 4K and with 90W PD. been eyeing Anker but want opinions on best of the best docking stations and also budget bang for buck picks.
For now I have been using a cheap hub with HDMI flicker and really liked it.
Additionally I have some problems with my desk is small so compact footprint and front ports is really important.

❔ • Feedback 2 Monitors and 2 Laptops Question
Apologies if this isn't the proper subreddit, but I'm working on improving my workspace. If this belongs somewhere else lmk.
I have a setup with both my personal and work laptops. Right now they use a single docking station that I manually swap between laptops as needed. I was hoping to change the setup as professionally diagrammed but I'm not really sure what to use for the question mark in the middle.
I'd like to be able to:
Have a button or switch I could use to swap if my K+M is going to my work laptop or personal laptop
I'd like the ability to choose to have either monitor feeding from either laptop. Default would be both monitors coming from the archive laptop, but it'd be nice to also be able to also have the monitors pull from separate laptops when desired.
Ideally, the laptops only plug in via a single USB-C/Thunderbolt. Something simple to make leaving the desk easy.
I've achieved 1 in the past with a cheap little USB hub switcher thing. But I don't have a solution for 2. All I can think of is plugging both laptops in directly to the monitors and changing inputs, but that seems messy.
Both laptops are modern Dells if that matters at all.

Really happy how it turned out.
Going to update the lighting so I can get rid of the big ol umbrella.

❔ • Feedback Desk chair floor protection - alternative?
Hi everyone, I'm renting an apartment in Germany and need to protect the wooden floor (untreated hardwood floorboards). My office chair has standard casters.
How can I protect the floor without resorting to those ugly, clear plastic chair mats (the one in the picture is from IKEA)? A rug would obviously look much nicer, but the chair doesn't roll well on it.
What solutions or workarounds have worked best for you? Thanks in advance for your tips!

🖼️ • Photos Looking for some advice on furniture/lighting/desk placement
Hi everyone, I just recently had my office painted and I’m using this as an opportunity to redo the layout.
If you had the chance to design this office from scratch, what moves would you make? My biggest issue right now is the lighting is very poor. The window only provides so much natural light.
I do plan on cleaning the desk cables up as well, which I know will add a boost.

❔ • Feedback Will ergotron hx work well with this table?
Thinking about buying this table, but the edge is beveled and there's an apron preventing the clamp on my ergotron hx from going on all the way. The weight of the monitors plus the arm will not exceed 60lbs. The wood is sheesham.
Do I risk the arm falling off and/or damaging the table more than compared to a table where the clamp can be applied flush?

🖼️ • Photos My actual work setup — what would you change first?
My actual setup for cross-border e-commerce work (and the occasional rough demo)
This is the desk I use most days. I work in cross-border e-commerce, so I’m usually jumping between product listings, order and inventory sheets, supplier messages, customer emails, campaign reports, and whatever urgent problem showed up that morning.
The center screen gets whatever I’m actively working on. The right screen is usually for reference material, store pages, or reports, while the MacBook handles messages, calls, and music. It looks like a lot, but separating things this way saves me from constantly rearranging windows.
I’m also a rock fan and used to front a rock band. Nothing serious these days, but I still record rough vocals and simple song ideas at home, so the microphone arm does get used after work.
Gear list:
- 16-inch MacBook Pro, M3 Pro
- Samsung U28R550 monitor
- LG 27MP400-B monitor
- IKEA desk
- IKEA standing desk converter
- Neewer microphone arm
- Audio-Technica microphone
- Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse
- Cyber Vintage laptop stand
- Cyber Vintage phone stand
- Focusrite
Disclosure: I work with Cyber Vintage, and the laptop and phone stands are from the brand.
I already know the cables need some work. Beyond that, what would you change first?
