Sounds like he’s playing from Trump’s playbook. Hire people to do work and then stiff them in anyway you can when the work is done.

The Atlantic City Method!

29

u/jsax1978 20h ago

Exactly where my hate for him started. All of my older family members are from A.C. born and raised. They were all dealers, kitchen personnel or in some way employees of his at his casinos. When he did that crap he put not just my family but a lot of good people in a bad spot.

25

u/Person_Apple 19h ago

It always baffled me. People were saying how we needed a good business mind to fix the country so they elected.. the dude who's casino bankrupt an entire town with incredibly shady and illegal tactics??

10

Are you surprised..... Sadly we have more idiots in this country then people with brains.

7

u/Person_Apple 19h ago

I'm not surprised anymore. Just sad people who I thought were decent went full nightmare as soon as they thought it was finally acceptable to let their racist ignorant flags fly. I understood why people weren't happy with Democrats but the answer wasn't to go full Nazi in response.

2

u/SquirrelFluffy 8h ago

Y'know I think that's always been there. The internet makes everything a panic though and everyone has a way to an audience.

Australia blocked him owing a casino due to his links to organised crime and Americans gave him control of their government. Just so bizarre. It’s not like his corruption was a secret.

3

u/ComfortableGround403 8h ago

My bosses both voted for him. Cuz he was a savy business owner, the kind they inspired to be .When I pointed out his bankruptcy issues, they said "yeah, thats how he got his money. Duh"

They didnt care about his racist history. They are both black. They had to sell because they couldn't keep a pet shop running with profits.

2

u/themargarineoferror 3h ago

They try to claim ALL of the bankruptcies were strategic and smart lol

5

He’s a leach bro. Has been his whole life, his mom even thought so.

2

u/Hangry_Howie 17h ago

I'll never forget at the beginning of his first term, NPR interviewed a retired journalist from NJ whose beat was Casinos and Entertainment business. When Trump opened the Taj in fucking December, the guy rightly clocked that the casino would fail because its overhead couldn't keep up with the seasonal traffic. Trump sued him for YEARS and I think won or settled. When asked, the guy said "yeah, I voted for him".

4

u/Realistic-Raisin2812 15h ago

I was in a bar in A.C. when he announced. Folks booed him on TV. Then we spent the next hour listening to contractors and workers in the bar talk about how they were screwed by trump.

2

u/Q_S2 17h ago

He tried to screw the mob over too. He quickly straightened up from what I heard.

Sucks that happened to your family. Ive tried to warn these trump supporters who arent from the tri state area to be weary of Trump....

But here we are...

What really kills me are the people IN the tri state that are fully aware of his shenanegans over the years but love him anyway

I have a good friend who grew up in new york. And he has two trump stories- one wherein Trump sexually harrased his wife and got her fired from her job (he also blames him for her eventual relapse and death-the experience broke her) and the other when he hired a gay couple my friend knew for an interior design job, they finished on time and under-budget, he shorted them 80 grand and said "what are you gonna do f*****t?" Alot of NYC has stories like this.

9

u/Mr__O__ 20h ago

10

u/DrunkenHorse12 19h ago edited 18h ago

If they are contractors (probably are) then they are screwed, they are going to court for it and the fact theres a police car with dealership plates just parked outside the system is almost certainly stacked in that dealers favour which is why the dealer probably thought they could get away with this to begin with.

They obviously don't remember the woman who hired a bunch of guys to put on a new roof and as soon as they finished, she called I.C.E. on them. She was charged with several counts of fraud for defrauding them

3

u/Lotronex 16h ago

Pretty sure that was in like Maryland or a state that actually tries to protect workers. Not so sure how it will play out in Texas.

3

u/Raiju_Blitz 16h ago

Don't worry, Greg Abbott will get right on to congratulating the dealership on a job well done by stiffing those workers.

2

u/BygoneNeutrino 11h ago

I don't think what she did constitutes fraud, but she should have had the book thrown at her for hiring illegal aliens.  Since I'm assuming it's illegal to financially benefit from a crime, she should have had to forfeit the roof as well.

Some times they do but in relation to what happens to the workers, it can be a slap on the wrist. If you want some teeth to real reform you fine the person using the undocumented workers and make it steep. Like the fine is 50% of your business's or personal last three years gross. You make that fine on a per worker basis. A million dollar gross company would not pay 500k per head.

4

u/7818 20h ago

I haven't heard about a single company getting in any trouble over hiring illegals. Just the immigrants themselves.

2

u/Greg-Abbott 18h ago

Trump's own companies have employed illegal immigrants for decades.

This isn't about immigration. This is about racism. These people hate Mexicans. It's pretty fucking simple.

→ More replies (4)

3

u/Assumption-Putrid 21h ago

Because they would involve punishing good hard working Americans. IMO the solution to illegal immigration has never been to crackdown on the immigrants, but to crackdown on the people hiring them. If they can't find work, they will not come.

→ More replies (29)

3

u/ls20008179 19h ago

Because that might actually be effective. Putting business owners in prison for not doing due diligence would actually solve most of the problems republicans bitch about

2

u/cappurnikus 21h ago

If they punished people for giving others a reason to illegally immigrate, they'd piss off the owner/donor class. They want cheap labor.

2

u/talex625 21h ago

Yeah, they should look into him too.

2

u/NervousBeat16 19h ago

I think we should be stepping up the penalties for this. Without opportunity, our borders wouldn’t be flooded. Immigrants aren’t stealing jobs, they are being given jobs. These employers are devaluing the American people. We should be hammering these employers.

3

u/tune_yards 18h ago

If we were serious about curtailing unauthorized immigration we would implement mandatory E-verify and stiff penalties for hiring unauthorized workers. But maga just wants to see brown poor people kicked while they're down. They dont care about the people incentivizing immigrants and profiting off their labor.

2

u/Sad-Commercial1795 18h ago

Why do you think the contractor is illegal? People threaten other people with ICE and cops regardless of their legal status. If the guy was illegal then his English is better than most of these redneck donkeys that were born here and he should be running out of fear or being snatched up. Nah. The thieving POS that owns the dealership just thought he could rip off the contractor by intimidating them.

My question is if we are so worried about illegal immigrants working why arent we making fines to companies and people who hire them far more serious?

Why isnt every company who knowingly hires an illegal immigrant charged 10k or ten times their total yearly salary? Whichever is more ?

It is almost like we dont care about immigration and just want to abuse certain groups of people. Imagine that

Reminder that this won't end when the politicians and power players are hanging off ropes. There are plenty of low level parasites in the private sector that need to be put against a wall too. Any subhuman scum willing to do this isn't fit to breathe the same air as us.

This is the problem, employers that profited off of hiring workers without proper documentation or no documentation are not fined. Here is an employer who knowingly hired them only to profit. Thanks Reagan!

Slavery. This is called slavery.

Hitler studied the United States' slavery, immigration, imperialistic land seizure, and our eradication of the native population when planning his takeover of Europe.

ICE aren't based on Nazis, they're classic chattel slavery goons reformed.
