Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction

Dear r/walther Members,

As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.

To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.

Please share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
  2. Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
  3. Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
  4. What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?

I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.

Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.

Best regards

Is the Walther PDP's recoil really noticably bad compared to the competition?

I've been thinking about picking up my first Walther and the PDP seemed like a good starting point, with it being their new pistol that has seen some adoption by police and military. But I've recently been seeing complaints of high recoil compared to the competition, due to its high bore axis, massive slide, and low weight.

I've held one several times (never fired) and it fit my hand okay, the trigger was fantastic, and it was very light especially for it's relatively large size, despite the big ass slide.

But the M&P 9 M2.0 4.25" is all those things too, with a lower bore axis and higher weight (despite being a smaller pistol than the 4.5" PDP). I'm starting to second guess whether the PDP is worth adding to my collection.

My attempt at cloning the P14.

Hey everyone! Wanted to post my beautiful Walther PDP. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Did my best to clone the features of the German Special Forces P14, minus the cerakote and maritime components and such. Going to eventually get a mag extension and maybe cerakote as well. Hoping that the actual P14 and P14K hit the civilian market soon. How did I do?

I had my first squib round

I don’t know how many rounds I’ve shot in my shooting experience, if I were to take a guess probably between 40k-50k between multiple calibers and many different brands of ammo. Today was my first squib load. Bought a brick of this Turkish shit for a good price, within the first 50 rounds this happened. I’ll never buy from them again.

Inherited a PPK/S without grips, looking for advice

Where would you recommend shopping for gips, and what do you think is a reasonable price? I've seen prices from $50-$150 but some are being sold for even more. Also, I'm currently getting the gun seen by a gunsmith who mentioned 'make sure you get grips with screws, we won't have the screws here,' does this model of PPK/S need one screw or several to be assembled correctly? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Working my AIWB Bill Drills and this happened. 3 strings of almost identical times and hits. I had to show someone.

PDP Match poly with x300 from T1C MSP Pro Flx. Standard Bill Drill from 7. Shot 7 strings on this target and these were the last 3. Most runs had a C or two, so I'm still working on consistency. Wish I got the shooting on camera, but I wasn't planning on recording anything at first.

Where to find a DPT for my PDP?

I been looking to upgrade my trigger for a while but I can’t seem to ever find one in stock. I’ve been looking on and off for a year or so with no luck. Any tips? Thanks!

Limiter mag blocks

Does the pdp pro and pro sd compact have the same 18 round mag? I need mag blocks for my state and wanted to make sure there wasn’t a difference in the mags.

Q5 match question for confirmation

I just bought a full size pdp pro sd. It came with the 18rd mags with the metal baseplates. Am I correct that the metal baseplate is the adapter that is required to use them in a q5 match with a magwell without a risk of hitting the striker?

Walther pdp f series very jumpy when shooting ?

I recently went to a local shooting range and tried the Walter PDP. I love the gun ordered it and I feel like the new one I got is very bouncy in the hand when firing is it me or does the spring need to be broken in?

Huge difference between Jarvis, PMM and Walther threaded barrel? Which is best?

I have a 4” steel frame but would like the option to add a threaded barrel. Mainly interested in adding a comp.

UPDATE: I got the Stainless Steel, and I will get the german Blued later :)

Someone has both Stainless Steel and Blued Walther PPKs for sale, both in very good condition. I can't decide which one.

Hot take? I like the stock pdp spring more than lighter ones.

Gun feels faster and the dot goes right back to where I’m looking, and since it returns harder I don’t have to put in any input in to the gun to get it to return. Tried a v spec and it felt like the dot stayed high and I had to push it back down to return. Considering I read basically everywhere how much people prefer the vspec I was genuinely surprised I think I like the stock one more. Just wanted to share my experience as a newer pdp owner

Pistol light for pdp pro sd full size

I’ve been doing a lot of research for what pistol light makes the most sense for my full size pdp pro sd. Surefire is obviously high on my list. Lately the Holosun lights have been catching my attention. I am curious if anyone has any suggestions for what lights fit the best on the underbarrel pic rail

Lead times on ExpertVoice

Has anyone ordered a Walther through the mil/le discount program on expertvoice. It says they can take up to 90 days to ship but I’m trying to get a realistic time frame. Ordered a steel frame and I’m hoping to get it before some matches later this month. Thanks.

Out of battery Issues with ZRT Long Stroke PDP SF 5"

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hey guys, so it seems there's a decently well known issue with the ZRT long stroke being too weak to keep the slide in battery. Had two failures at my last match while performing a "tac" reload. When I re-presented the pistol and pulled the trigger, the striker pushed the frame back into battery and that was it.

I managed to "fix" the issue by slipping two washers behind the guide rod and preloading the spring a little more, but that doesn't seem like a reliable solution.

Does anyone know if there's a heavier spring that will fit the long stroke guide rod I can buy? I would have returned it, but I already modified my safariland holster around the new guide rod, not to mention I lost the plastic spacer.

Thanks!

Love the SF PDP. Talk about a nightstand rig.

The PMM barrel has been fantastic, I ran it with the comp for 6 months, what a fun pistol.

ZR Tactical guide rod question.

Recently picked up a PDP Match Polymer 5” and was wanting to add a ZR tactical spring. Normally either shoot 115 or 124 grain full power ball ammo. Have never owned one but it looks like the duty spring captured guide rod may be the ticket.
