"About a year before a renowned University of Wisconsin-Madison professor resigned and took a new job in Arizona, an investigation found he had sexual relationships with two students and engaged in unwelcome sexual conduct with one of them, and that he made derogatory, sexist and disparaging comments about members of his department.

UW-Madison’s investigation of Dietram Scheufele examined his conduct with students and faculty across nearly a decade, including at an academic conference in Detroit that he attended in 2022. Scheufele repeatedly denied to investigators that he engaged in any unprofessional, romantic, sexual or flirtatious interactions with students. He also disputed allegations that he spoke disparagingly about students and faculty.

The Cap Times obtained hundreds of pages of records detailing the university’s investigation from an attorney representing three students who filed complaints against Scheufele. The records contain more information than redacted investigation documents the university released to the Cap Times this week under state open records laws.

The Cap Times separately interviewed the students about their experiences, sometimes accompanied by their attorney. Each student said the university’s lengthy, opaque investigation left them questioning campus leaders’ commitment to preventing future misconduct."

Does anyone know where the table tennis courts are other than the university club meetings at Bakke (they only host the tables for 2 days and a few hours a week) and the mechanical engineering basement? Or is this not really popular bc its wisconsin?

PLEASE FIX YOUR ELEVATORS!!!! I have worked in this building for going on 7 months now and I stg every other day of the week one if not both of the elevators are broken. Yeah yeah yeah I can walk my ass up 7 flights of stairs 4-5 times a day for 5 days a week but what about those that cant???

I am currently planning to apply for a PhD in philosophy at UW-Madison and would like to know about the funding options. The website mentions that "the Department of Philosophy offers 6 years of financial support to all incoming graduate students, beginning their first fall semester", but it doesn't indicate a specific amount. So, how much is the average monthly stipend? Is it separated from the department scholarship for serving as a Teaching Assistants or Project Assistants? I could've add extra 300-400 dollars by myself but aimed to fully rely on a fellowship (if it covers the cost of living in Madison at all, which is also a question).

Hi y'all. I'm (25M) a first year PhD student (Mass-com/poli-sci). I have been really into lifting for a bit over a year now. During my master's dissertation it really became a big thing for me because the physical resease and endorphins it gave me really acted as profound stress relief during an insanely challenging time. I know lifting will continue to help me to cope with my accademic demands in my doctorate, and I was hoping there were people in similar situations that might wanna link. I feel I'm at an age where its not totally socially unacceptable to mingle with undergrads for reasons like this, but I just notice a gap in maturity and relatabillity whenever I've tried to interact with them at the rec center. I'm eager to foster a friendship with a fellow grad-student who just so happens to wanna get jacked AF. Please just lmk:)

Hi, wondering if anyone on the Bucky’s Pell pathway scholarship has studied abroad for a whole semester? How much help was your financial aid? Did you still receive an erefund to pay your rent back home? I have to accept my spot by the 19th but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to afford it. Would appreciate as much info as possible because the financial aid office and advisors have not been much help with the details and I’d love to hear from someone who’s experienced this.

Just moved to campus, Freshman. Me and my friends keep getting bombarded by these Campus Ministries like Cru or Navigators etc. It's getting really old, I tried multiple events they hosted since moving in and the communities seem to have heavy shepherding and just really unwelcoming tactics. Do what you want as you will, but count me out. It's bad enough they hunt for freshman. Is this normal? I talked to a few other freshmen and they were just uncomfortable. Take it with a grain of salt but beware out there. I also told them I was an atheist and wasn't interested, they weren't too happy with that.

Any advice on how to well I can ignore it, but any advice? Maybe a friendlier ministry?
