I'm excited but also nervous. It's weird finally being at the point where school (orientation) actually starts, how does everyone feel about finally going to orientation?

Advice Financially cancelled for my fourth year gg

Heyy so I paid my tuition through the bank before the September 2nd deadline, but I think it didn’t process in time so there was an outstanding balance and I got financially cancelled and removed from all my courses. I paid everything + late registration fees in full now and I told them what happened with proof but I’m just feeling super shit now. Any advice?
It’s just ass because I’m going into fourth year and I was in a research course so this is really ass 💔

Question suspended for 12 months

Is there anything i can even do?

My GPA was already low, which is why I was placed on academic probation.

During the fall semester, I was on probation. Then, during the winter semester, I deferred one of my final exams. The problem was that while the deferral was still being processed/awaiting approval, the course was temporarily showing as a failed grade because I had not completed the final exam.

Because of that, the Registrar’s Office initially put me on a 4-month suspension. However, I eventually completed the deferred exam, did well enough in the course, and once the actual grade was entered, the suspension was removed. So everything was fine after that.

Then summer semester came around. In the summer, I failed one course. I also deferred another course, but this is where things get complicated: the deferral has not been approved yet, so the course is currently being treated as a failed grade. Essentially, right now my record looks like two failed courses and one passed course, even though one of those “fails” may change once my deferral is approved. Because the Registrar/academic standing process doesn’t wait for the deferral decision, I was placed on a 12-month suspension. I have the exam coming up in September. If I can get my GPA up to at least around 1.7, I might be ok? The problem is that I would need something like a 95% on the exam/final to get the GPA I need. the exam is for psyb55.

Question Walking on campus late

I have MGEA01 this upcoming semester and I’m very anxious as it ends at 10 pm, so I’d have to walk from IC to south residences

How safe are campus and that particular route at that time and are there usually at least some people around? Any concerns to be aware of?

The only solution I see is fully relying on in-person Travel Safer the whole semester, but I can’t find any feedback on the service. For those who used it - have you encountered any reliability issues? Do they actually always come when you call them?

Thanks!

Question Frosh and Orientation

So I unfortunately couldn’t get admission ticket for the orientation, but luckily theres still a few left for the Frosh Tickets.

My question is, if I buy Frosh, does this allow me to then attend the orientation? I really want to go to the orientation as an incoming student.

Is it worth to buy frosh? And will I be able to make friends?

Courses bio120 vs bioa11

long post lol so sorry

i’m currently in social sci ( undeclared major) and i want to go into bio stream eventually and anthro

i don’t have gr 12 math currently so im not allowed to take bioa01, im currently registered in bio120 downtown- would this be allowed to take not just in replacement but as a “pre req” for bio01 or should i wait to be off the bio11 waitlist and take that so i can take bioa01( its technically allowed to be used in lieu)

i know i can meet with an advisor and have them approve of at george courses but would they approve it since im not a current bio/ anthro student technically ?

Question Looking for a video recording of University of Toronto/Uoft graduation/convocation ceremony on 2022 Dec 16 (2pm) Question

My son graduated from UTSC in 2021, with his postponed graduation ceremony on Dec 16,2022,at 2pm due to the pandemic. I lost my phone, so I lost the precious footage of my son waving to me on stage that day😭. Does anyone/your family members/your friends have the full footage of that graduation ceremony (2022 Dec 16, 2pm)? It might include the footage of my son.

My family and I were seated on the left side of the stage.

There was no video archive for that day and time on Youtube or MyMedia and we have contacted the school, they don't have it.

This was my son's only university graduation ceremony in his life, he waved to me and our family, it's precious and unforgettable.

I am willing to pay for the video copy if you have. We can do the download through the Google Cloud. I would appreciate any help you can offer.🙏

P.S # I will keep waiting here and repost monthly if reddit allowed, until for a good news hopefully📍This is the 7th repost since from 2025 Nov 06.

Question Joining the Concert Band and School Events

I'm an incoming first-year student and am interested in joining the concert band (or ensemble or orchestra if we have one).

However, the only music course I'm taking is Introduction to Musicianship (MUZA80H3), which I took because I want to do a minor in Music.

I'm aware that there is a music club (Music 303), but I don't think that's quite the same thing as playing in the band.

Therefore, does anyone know how to get in (eg. Asking the conductor or my course teacher)? As a side note, I also work part-time on top of doing a full course load, so if possible, I'd also appreciate if someone knows when rehearsals are to see if I could join in the first place.

Also, I've been seeing emails about all these upcoming events that happen during school hours (Orientation, Welcome Day, and Campus Life Expo); I know I have to register for some of these, but am I excused from class for them or am I supposed to drop-in during my free time? And I'm mainly interested in Campis Life Expo, but would you say the other events are worth it?

Question UTSC Double Degree (BBA Management/Finance + Stats, Quant Finance stream) what to expect first year?

Hey all, I’m an incoming first year in the UTSC Double Degree program (BBA Management/Finance + HBSc Statistics, Quant Finance stream) starting this Fall. Taking 5 courses in first semester, 2 math (calculus and discrete math) and 3 business/econ. For anyone who’s done this program or something similar, how rough was first semester or first year workload-wise? Did you actually have time for a social life, relationship, hobbies, that kind of thing, or was it pretty much all-consuming? Also curious if there’s anything you wish you’d known going in. Appreciate any honest input
