Quick oil change place screwed me

Hi all - I need advice. I got a coupon from a quick-change oil place (the kind where you stay in your car), so I went there (ya girl's broke). almost immediately one of the techs came around the side to try check my cabin air filter. Well, my car's (2013 Mazda 3) cabin air filter is notoriously hard to find, so she was having a tough time. She ended up getting a drill with a phillips head on it and removed some screws, after removing the panel, to see if she could find it. She couldn't. While she was poking around she said, "oh, that's hot!" and pulled her hand away from something. She googled where the cabin air filter is, tried again, and failed. I was planning to go to the dealership the next day anyway for a different thing, and told her not to worry about it and I'd have them check it. It was hard to see what she was doing as I was driver side, and she was scrunched up in the passenger side foot well.

Shortly after this, one of the techs who was doing the oil change mentioned that my car was "leaking fluid." He held up a rag and we could see neon fluid on it. I said, immediately, "I wasn't leaking anything before I got here." And the tech who was trying to find my cabin air filter repeated, "She said she wasn't leaking anything before she got here."

The techs deliberated about what it could be and someone said "oh maybe it's the heater core." I asked what that meant and if it needed to be looked at immediately. They said, "Not immediately, just before winter." I was about to say, "Could this have been cause by the tech who was looking for my cabin air filter?", but didn't, because I'm not confident about cars and didn't want to sound accusatory.

Well, long story short, my mechanic looked at it and said it absolutely was caused by them and it's going to be $2,800 to fix it, because they'd have to remove the dash!

So I called them back, and spoke with the gal who was jostling around down there with the screw driver. I told her, I'm leaking antifreeze from my heater core, and my mechanic believes it was caused when you were drilling while looking for my cabin air filter. Her response was "I didn't see anything while I was down there." I replied, "Yes, I'm aware. I'm not saying you would have 'seen anything'. I'm saying while you were looking for the air filter, you may have caused damage to the heater core, and now it's leaking and it's expensive to fix."

She offered to have her manager review the security footage and call me back. I said okay, and before I could give her my number (she knew my name) the call disconnected (convenient). They have my number though, because I'm in their system. I called her last week Friday and have not gotten a call back (it's Wednesday.)

HELP

Edit to update: I have filed a complaint with Valvoline. Our Mazda dealership said they may send someone out to look at the car, and determine the price to fix it, and cut us a check. Mazda quoted us almost $3,000 for the complete fix. Who knows what Valvoline's OWN insurance will estimate the fix at. What a waste of time and a total racket.

Question/Advice ~25L / 100km?

Post image

This seems to have started after I got my oil change done. I know jeep fuel economy isn’t the best but it’s much worse than what it was before. I put fuel in this sucker on Sunday which brought it up to 3 quarters full now it’s at a half. A commute to and from work takes only 20km and it used about a quarter of my tank for it?? I have a Jeep Cherokee 2015 limited. I can’t be paying $60 every 3 days to keep it above half 😬

Am I overthinking this? Is this normal rusting after being exposed to leaked coolant and water then left idle for 2 months while being repaired?

Question/Advice Car engine sound?

I know I'm needing new tires because of the amount of road noise I'm hearing each drive, but I've also been hearing this sound when I accelerate and when the hood is open. It sounds like it may be a belt. Engine also just makes this "tired" sound when I accelerate. I can post another video in the comments with the hood open. Any tips are appreciated!

Question/Advice Random red piece showed up in the grill after going to the mechanic

As title says, this random red piece showed up in the grill… definitely hasn’t been there before and the last pic shows what a normal Mazda CX-30 grill should look like.

The car was in a small accident and we needed to take it to the collision center… though the front/grill was never affected by the accident.

Why would this be here? How did it get in? Am I just stupid😭

Car troubles

I am a 17 year old teenage boy and a couple of weeks ago I had an incident with my car. I hit it on something and slashed one of the tires so I replaced them without my parents knowing. But the car needs an oil change soon, and typically they receive a tire rotation too. Im really worried because the wheels in the front are an entirely different brand than the ones in the back now. And are also obviously brand new. Do you think my dealership would mention it? Im really worried and have been stressing about this.

Key not found

So this is long but I'm really at my wits end with this car.

2019 ford fiesta. I have had a problem with this issue for a while now but its gotten worse the last few weeks. It is not push start. When i got to start the car and turn it to the start position it will randomly say key not found.

I have had the key fobs totally replaced and that didn't really work. I have changed the fob batteries multiple times.

I googled it and read maybe it was a moisture issue which made sense because I seemed to do it a lot when it rained for long periods of time but not always. If I run the air on accessories it will work half the time.

I also thought maybe it was an issue with the security system. It has the one it came with. If I lock the door and use the key to open it it will work sometimes.

I can go weeks without having a problem and then have a whole week of it acting up. It might take me three or four times to get it to read the key and start it. Yesterday I wore the battery down trying it. In that case it still didn't start til the third time and then there was a delayed start, like I turned the key and it took a few seconds to start.

There is a weird repeated thumping sound in my speakers that happens when I open my door to get in and I notice that only happens when it wont read the key.

Its gotten worse recently so I talked to a few shops. Ford can't even get it in for a month and the other shop has literally never heard of what I explained. They say they need the car to not start for them to diagnose it but once its starts I usually dont have a problem the rest of the day and I never know when it will do it again.

Any one have any ideas cause it cost me almost 600 bucks to replace the keys and they problem wasnt fixed. I have a feeling they think its the key.
