I’m doing some quick research on how people back home handle online payments for international websites, apps, and gaming.

Since local mobile money doesn't directly connect to foreign sites and card access is limited/sometimes denied online, I’d love to know how you guys get around this:

1. What is your workaround? Are you using virtual cards from local banks, or asking diaspora family to buy things for you? If you use an online service, let me know which one.
2. Which mobile money service/SIM do you rely on the most for this? (eDahab, Zaad)
3. What is the biggest headache? High minimum fees, declined cards, or lack of options and services for small purchases ($5–$20)?

Hello, i am currently writing an article which also touches on the recognition of Somaliland by Israel and i was wondering what the reaction of Somalilanders was to the initial news, also how was that opinion changed or not changed now, more than half a year later. I made a stupid mistake. I posted on social media that I wanted to kill Trump. For that crime, I received eight years of probation. I recently finished my probation, but I still have a felony on my record, which has made it difficult for me to find a job.

I’ve decided to move to Somaliland. It has always been my goal to join the military, but I can’t join the American military because of my criminal record. Does anyone have any idea how I could join the Somaliland military?

As far as I can tell, Israel's recognition hasn't generated the anticipated domino that the Somaliland leadership apparently banked on. Question is does Somaliland have any cards left to play or the strategy was to shoot at this one opportunity with Israel and pray for God to do the rest?

Somaliland's national anthem, "Samo Ku Waar" ("Live in Eternal Peace"), carries deep emotional significance for many people, including me.

I used to sing this anthem as a student in the large choir at Qudhac-dheer Primary School in Hargeisa around 2005.

I believe every Somalilander should know and be able to sing our national anthem.

This is something I've genuinely wondered about and would love to learn more about from those who know our history.

Given that Habarjeclo has such a long stretch of coastline, what led our ancestors to settle mainly in the Hawd, Ogo, and Nugaal instead of developing larger coastal communities in Guban and along the Xeeb?

Was it because of grazing conditions, freshwater availability, trade patterns, security, disease, or historical migrations?

I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone whose familiar with Habarjeclo oral history. This isn't meant to compare clans or start arguments I'm simply trying to better understand our history.

We all see the news reports but I want to hear it from the actual people , how do Somalilanders view the state of Israel and the situation and Gaza? Do you as Somalilanders sympathize with the people of Palestine???

I was considering buying farmland but I’m diaspora and don’t have anyone I can reliably look into this for me right now. How much does it even cost for a few hectares and does anyone know more about farming in Somaliland? Thanks

I can't be the only one who's noticed this.

Every time I post or comment from a Somaliland perspective in r/Somalia, it gets mass downvoted almost immediately, and I was eventually blocked. Meanwhile, pro-union opinions are completely welcome.

It makes me wonder: if the goal is unity, why is there so little tolerance for different opinions? If people can't even discuss the issue without being silenced or buried in downvotes, how is there supposed to be any meaningful conversation?

Has anyone else here had the same experience, or is it just me?

Hey guys, it must be hard to be Somali when the President insults yall regularly. He has said Somalia is a shithole that has nothing except people killing each other. He says Somalis in America are garbage. He says your leader Ilhan Omar married her own brother and is a crook.
I don’t think any country or people have been as insulted as Somalis have by a sitting American President.
How do you deal with such humiliation?
