I work for a startup company in SF and my product team needed a more capable version of Screen studio - they needed to add photos, texts, videos, reorder specific parts.

So I've built this video editor called tenzen.studio .

When I was a kid I desperately wanted one of those spy-movie watches where the gadgets actually worked.

Radar, tracking, secret menus, weird little tools hidden on your wrist. The completely unnecessary stuff that feels extremely necessary when you’re twelve.

I’m nearly 30 now, had a Garmin on my wrist, and eventually thought: fine, I’ll build it myself.

So I started making ALPHA FIELDMASTER.

It now has a Bluetooth radar, a tailscan mode for checking which signals stay with you as you move, a seismic/vibration tool, GPS dead drop, signal intel, a fingerprint gate and a little Field System tying everything together.

But the side project took a weird turn.

I kept trying to design the interface through iterations with Claude Code: move this two pixels, make that ring thinner, nope, wrong spacing, again.

Eventually I realized I didn’t need a better prompt. I needed a better tool.

So I built my own browser-based watch editor where I could lay out the entire dial at pixel precision.

At first it was just a design/spec tool.

Then I discovered the real Garmin hardware still made parts of the design look cheap because of its rendering constraints. So we stopped asking the watch to recreate the design live.

The editor became the production renderer.

The dial, rings, seconds ticks, hand artwork and even the number glyphs now come directly from it.

The pixels on my wrist are literally the editor’s pixels.

And because everything came from one controlled recipe, the same system could be rendered at four screen sizes. We ported the app to 43 Garmin models in one night.

So the side project basically went:

childhood idea → Garmin app → frustration → custom design tool → that tool becomes the renderer → shipped product.

I’m a designer/creative more than an embedded developer, which is probably why this whole thing has been such a fun rabbit hole. Claude Code made it possible to keep crossing into the technical parts I normally wouldn’t have been able to handle alone.

Anyway, the ridiculous watch I wanted as a kid is actually on my wrist now.

Hey everyone! We’ve (my co-founder and I) been working on a side project called Merido, and with the free preview about to open, we’re looking for some early users to try it and give us some honest feedback.

The idea came from a problem I’ve had myself. I’m a high earner in the UK and, as my finances have become more complicated, I’ve found it surprisingly difficult to actually understand my wealth. I have pensions, ISAs, investments, property, a mortgage and various accounts, but having all those numbers in different places doesn’t really tell me how my overall financial position is developing or whether the decisions I’m making are actually moving me in the right direction.

I’ve used Moneyhub in the past, which helped with some of the elements of tracking my finances, after it was recommended to me by someone on Reddit a few years back. When Moneyhub announced it was shutting down this year, I started thinking more seriously about what I would actually want from a product like this, and that was ultimately what prompted me to co-found Merido.

We’re deliberately not trying to build another budgeting app. There are already plenty of good products that help you track your income and outgoings, categorise your spending and tell you where your money went that month. We’re much more interested in the question of "what is happening to my wealth, and what could I do differently?” Merido brings together things like cash, investments, pensions, property and debt to help you understand your overall net worth and how it changes over time, with the goal of letting you model different choices and see how they could affect your financial position.

There’s also a more personal reason I want to build this. Financial education isn't really something we get taught in schools in the UK, and most of what I’ve learned about managing and growing my own wealth has come from actively seeking out information, including through Reddit, and inevitably making a few mistakes along the way. I think there’s an interesting opportunity to bring some of that educational context into a product like Merido without crossing the line into giving people financial advice. Our initial focus is on people who are already fairly engaged with their finances, but the longer-term vision is for it to also help people who are earlier in their journey and trying to work out how to build wealth in the first place.

Hey! I built a macapp which went from struggling to get 1000 visitors a month to reaching 1000 visitors a day in less than 120 days using just SEO (proof in comments). bdw i am Kshetez, a solo dev and not a seo export.

i shared about reaching 2 mil in 100 days(post in comments) and ppl wanted breakdown. so here is what i'd do if i start from scratch to gain users from google, ChatGPT, claude and other LLMs.

disclaimer: happy to learn and correct if you think i have made any SEO mistakes. i will test and fix them.

this is probably useful if you are:

• a founder who wants to grow Organic Search but dont know how to start(like me 4 months ago)
• part of small team trying to make Organic Search a reliable source of bringing in users (regular visitors are helping me in A/B testing of website/product. also extra money is always useful)

The actual process:

i call it The Search Momentum Framework. it has 4 main steps.

1. COLLECT

goal: collect all relevant data which can be used to write blogs.

this might include:

• GSC api access for pages and keywords already working. exporting data also works.
• your current content like homepage, blogs, articles etc.
• what users like/dont like - can be collected by asking users, from reviews, onboarding answers
• keyword data of you and your competitors - available in DataForSeo or semrush
• AI visibility status - run 50-100 prompts your users might search for in any AI like chatgpt, claude or get a paid tool that tracks
• your goals - brand awareness, more calls, conversions etc- this has a major role in deciding what keywords/prompts to pick initially (eg: for a basketball shoes brand with goal of conversions, keywords might include "best basketball shoes under X price", "basketball shoes for beginners" etc. why? cause these are queries by ppl who want to buy the shoes. this is a detailed topic which you can understand using ai and i might write about later.)

2. ANALYZE

goal: find keywords and prompts where you can win + stuff to include in your blogs.

here are the insights you need from all the data:

• 100-300 keywords you will target for next 2-3 months - based on search volume, keyword difficulty, intent of users, your goals.
• list of pages already ranking in AI results of you and your competitors - gives us info on what is already working and where to reachout for 3rd party mentions
• a product file which will have all the insights for the product like reviews, what users like/dont like, what it is/isnt, one liner, and so on. more the better. - needed for AI to know when to include you and how
• a voice file which contains details on how you write, what words you use and dont use etc, can be very detailed - will be used to generate blogs in your voice

3. CREATE

goal: write citeable blogs for AI. you have to remember that you main reader might not be a human.

now this step has 2 main parallel things you need to do:

• write blogs - make sure there is proper structure, technical seo is top notch, written for AI.
• third party mentions - now the list you created in the first 2 steps of pages being already mentioned will come in use. find a way to get yourself listed there.

some random points:

• how to write blogs: this is a very deep topic(post already too long). i will cover in some other article. for now remember main goal is to write non-promotional blogs and focus on building topic authority.
• how to get third party mentions: you can start by getting listed on free directories or websites like reddit, linkedin, github etc and then transition to reachouts as they are time taking. you must remember "GIVE, GIVE, GIVE, ASK". give 3x more in those reachouts like free access to your tool, mention in your newsletter etc.

4. MONITOR

goal: find what worked/failed.

here is how and what to monitor:

• GSC - it will be crucial in finding what actually works. use this to monitor the following:
  • keywords and queries users are searching for
  • pages which started working and why
  • find new keywords - some blogs will rank for keywords you didnt use. you can then find and make content on them. this is why api will be useful as AI can help you find those keywords.
• Analytics tool - gives some idea whether AI is recommending you. tools like google analytics and posthog etc will start showing people coming from ai recommendations. it will give you a hint that it is actually working.
• User conversations: ask users where they found the product. read Mom Test and it will help here. you can also add a onboarding question about the same and it works great. 40% of users answer for my product. so it gives a good idea.

doubts i had, and you might too

• "how many blogs should i write?"
  • i kept between 1-5/ day. what i checked was indexing. if not getting indexed at that volume. i reduced the volume.
• "when will i see results"
  • if done right if have seen AI recommendations within a week of blog being indexed.
  • btw depends on search query and ranking a lot.
• "are third party mentions essential cause they sound like too much work?"
  • kind of, there are multiple free and easy ways to get them and they wont take much time. the reachouts can be done slowly.
  • btw i tried a get directory listing service once for 150usd and it was effective at first and took my DR to 14 from 6-7 i guess(not sure) but then it tanked below 10(i saw 9 when i few months ago). so i think spamming is not a good idea there as well. so go slow with this as well. again remember it is a long term game.

needed tools:

• DataForSEO/ Semrush or any keyword research tool
• GSC - Google Search Console
• Analytics like Google Analytics, Posthog etc

conclusion

your main aim is increasing the surface area. keep increasing the locations where AI can find you. third party mentions, blogs, competitor pages, reddit posts, X posts etc are all just increasing the chances of AI finding your product when it searches the web. so do not spam and create valuable content slowly. i never went above 5 blogs a day. that too is very high. now i do 1/ day.

next steps

attached a 90 day checklist you can use to make sure you dont miss anything in comments.

btw if you have 10 secs can you pls comment if you gained anything or not and maybe what your current SEO level is and if it still helped at that level.

i not really sure if this is useful for anyone so your comments will give me some grasp of that.

Something like:

- What was I stressed about last spring.

- Was I sleeping badly in March

It would then answer from your own entries. You can also ask it from ChatGPT or Claude directly, over MCP, if you prefer that. (you could talk to chatGPT and have it write content for you)

Has few features like sending letters to your future self, creating threads out of them etc etc.

When TV Time shut down, a lot of people lost years of watch history. Turns out if the app is still installed on your phone, the data is still sitting in a local file. It just never synced out before the servers went down.

I built bobin, a free show and movie tracker. It reads that local file and restores your whole history with the original watch dates. No manual export, no signup.

Three things I learned so far. First, the recovery angle beat every generic new tracker pitch. People don't want to start over, they want their old data back. Second, making the import dead simple moved the needle more than any feature. You drop the phone backup in and it reads the sqlite database inside, no renaming or extracting. Third, being genuinely helpful in communities beat promoting. Answering how do I get my data out got more real signups than any launch post.

It went from under 20 to around 40 real users in a few weeks. Small numbers, but almost every one imported real history, which tells me the core need is there.

Hey, I'm one of the co-founders of ApyHub.

At a company I worked at before this, we built seven services that had nothing to do with what we sold. File conversion, video processing, watermarking, notification handling, contract management, and a couple more. All of them worked great. All of them stayed inside the platform. None of them was ever sold separately.

Someone suggested selling one about once a year. The answer was always no, and looking back the answer was right. Turning an internal service into a product means docs for people who can't ask you a question, support tickets from people who aren't your customers, billing, tax, versioning, an SLA, a compliance questionnaire, and enough marketing that anyone knows it exists. That's a second company. Nobody runs one of those while shipping the first.

The thing is, most of you are sitting on the same situation right now. You built a thing for your project, it works, it's running, and it serves exactly one product.

Some of those are worth publishing as APIs. Most aren't. Here's the test I'd use:

1. Does someone else have this problem and not want to build it themselves? If the demand is theoretical, stop here.
2. Do the generic tools handle it badly? Specificity is the whole advantage.
3. Is it stable? If you're tweaking it every week for your own project, it'll break for everyone else.
4. Can one sentence describe it? If it takes a paragraph, nobody will find it or evaluate it.
5. Would you support it in eighteen months? Not enthusiastically. Willingly.

Watermarking would have passed all five. Our contract management would have failed the first two, and I'd have argued for it anyway, which is a good reason to write the questions down before you're emotionally attached.

One honest caveat. Publishing something internal means it gets external callers, and that changes your rate limiting and your on-call. Less work than building a company around it. More than zero.

One recent improvement that I made is adding tiktok-style live captions, which make it much easier to follow what is being said in the video. Previously it was just showing the normal YouTube transcript, where you had to constantly scan the text while watching and sync it up in your head. Now it highlights each syllable as it's being spoken. This frees up some processing power in your brain to actually understand the content of the video.

Would a visual chemistry app actually help you learn chemistry?

I’m working on an idea for a chemistry learning app aimed at high school and university students, and I’m trying to figure out whether this solves a real problem before I go too far with it.

One thing I remember struggling with in chemistry is that we’re often given equations, numbers, and 2D diagrams to describe things that are actually happening at the molecular level.

The idea is to make those concepts interactive.

For example, instead of only learning the gas laws through equations, you could change the volume or temperature of a container and actually see how the particles respond while the equation and values update alongside it.

The same idea could be applied to things like:

VSEPR and molecular geometry

orbitals and electron configuration

intermolecular forces

equilibrium / Le Châtelier’s principle

acids and bases

kinetics

electrochemistry

stoichiometry

Eventually, I’d also like it to help with problems. So rather than an app simply calculating an answer, it would visually show what is happening chemically while you work through the calculation.

Basically, I want to bridge the gap between:

“I know which formula to use”

and

“I actually understand why this happens.”

Before I spend too much time building it, I’d love some brutally honest feedback:

Maybe it’s figuring out what to build, turning the idea into an actual product, getting people to care, finding your first users, making the business side work, staying motivated, or dealing with problems you didn’t even know existed when you started.

Sometimes the hardest part is even realizing that the original idea wasn’t quite as good as you thought and figuring out what to change.

Had one of those Saturday mornings where I had 25 tabs open, read 3 articles properly, and spent the rest of the time either skimming things too fast or copy-pasting them into ChatGPT to get the gist.

So I built a Chrome sidebar that opens on any page and gives you a proper digest of what you just read, not just a skim. Works on news articles, Reddit threads, product reviews, research pieces. It detects the content type and structures the summary around that.

After the summary questions can be asked directly in the sidebar. Still on the same page, no tab switching needed.

API costs are a real thing so running on free keys for now, which means there might be occasional delays depending on traffic. Added an option to plug in a personal Gemini API key, Google and ChatGPT gives them out for free and it takes 30 seconds to set up. Nothing is stored.
