The r/Sheffield Classifieds - Rooms, Flats, Tickets, Buy/Sell, etc

By far the biggest thing we remove here is people trying to find or let rooms, sell tickets, and other bits and bobs.

But likely not enough to survive on its own as a dedicated sub. So we'll carve out this space here. Please use it to list anything you're interested in, or are trying to part with.

And be mindful of who you give your personal details out to! We'll not be providing escrow or verification!

Question Hobbies for women over 30s

Just moved to the area, and I want to find myself a hobby! Something fun to do in the evenings after work that isn't too strenuous, but is a nice distraction from this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. 🙃 Open to anything; arty, fitness, dance, voodoo, etc, and women only would be ideal. Does anyone already do something, or any suggestions would be super helpful! Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone.

We are a small sheffield based knife manufacture

I’ve recently updated an old site we had to focus on the knives we offer for professionals like chefs and butchers.

All feedback is greatly received as I’m not much of a web designer (or speller)

If you want to try a knife out aswell I’ve set up a 15% discount code : REDDIT

Ta in advanced.

Post image
58 Upvotes

Hello, I am a carpenter moving to Sheffield from London.

My line of work is film set construction.

I am aware I may need to pivot away from this line of work but just thought it worth asking in case anybody is aware of any construction companies or studios that produce for film or adjacent indusries.

Thanks in advance :)

Question Sheffield Magistrates Court

I have a pip tribunal...

I tried to do a "drive by" of the court today, but I could not see where to enter the building. I'm physically disabled & need to "plan" my entrance as best as possible to avoid injury.

Can anyone provide photos or point it out on a map?

The building appears to be on Bridge St according to Google maps, but online instructions mention Castle... But I don't even see it touch Castle on the map.

Please help :(

Question Any recommendations for kids' birthday party venues in Sheffield?

Hi,

Planning to arrange a 4th birthday party in the winter and wanted to do it in a play place however feeling a bit lost!

We have used:

  1. Play Mania

  2. Tiny Town

  3. Treasure Island

Some soft plays I have considered are Runaround (not too impressed), Playroom (but the play area is over two floors, which is a faff plus a lot of people dont really follow the rules, lots of rowdy older kids in the toddlers' ball pit etc)...

Any other options? For venues (like village halls) and party packages that are reasonably priced and recommended in the Sheffield area? Preferably indoors.

Vendor recommendations for cakes also welcome!

Many thanks!

Music Pubs/venues that have live music?

Hey will be in sheffield next week for work and curious where i might be able to find some music for the evening? Nothing fancy just a person and a guitar to small bands or some dj or whatever. Ill be staying in the centre ish, no car or nothing.

Edit or if Sheffield has something like Bristol's "Headfirst" app that would be useful too

Question Favourite independent/Mum and Pop food places

I’m looking for those authentic independent places that really care for their food and the origins of where it comes from. I love watching food content that show off these type of places and I’d like to try our local equivalents

Question Any shops in Sheff buy vintage clothing?

I have some cool American vintage pieces that either don’t fit me or aren’t my style anymore. I’m not trying to upsell or anything but I payed a decent bit for them and would like to get some money back + get them to someone who would love them as much as I used to :)

I know there are quite a few vintage shops in Sheffield but do any of them buy? City centre preferred, thanks!

Event Steel City Writer's Circle - free writing group

Apologies if you're sick of seeing these posts, but we're still getting new people so I'm assuming that some people haven't seen them!

I'm running a writing meetup every other Sunday. The idea is to meet up in a coffee shop and work on whatever you want - fiction, poetry, journaling, essays, whatever. We're not setting any exercises, you don't have to share at the end, it's all super low-key and no pressure.

If you're like me and find yourself doomscrolling instead of writing then it's a really helpful tool to keep yourself on track, and also an infallible excuse to indulge in coffee and cake.

It's this Sunday (6th) at Hygge Thirty Two on Eyre Street (opposite Decathlon) and it starts at 11. We usually stay until around 1-1:30, but no worries if you need to arrive later or leave early.

I've also started an Instagram if that's an easier way for you to keep track - https://www.instagram.com/shefwriters/
