About a week ago I started receiving usps priority mail packages marked “Return To Sender Undeliverable…” at my business address — with my business name and address as the return address on the shipping label.
I did not send these packages. Someone used my business name and address fraudulently.
I opened one of the packages to discover a black bubble wrap pouch containing two vacuum sealed testosterone vials and a very small box with Trump’s picture on it inside that box were several neatly packed vials with some type of substance inside.
Over the last ten days, I have received 2 more similar sized
return to sender packages which I haven’t opened.
I am concerned that there are more packages out there being delivered to people that will look at the return address and file a complaint against my business.
There is a usps tracking number that states the packages were posted at my local post office branch.

Has anyone heard of this fake return address phenomenon? Any insights of what is going on?

I received a call showing Caller ID as "Costco VISA", I usually don't answer an unknown number to avoid scam and commercial call, but this caller ID seemed real from Costco VISA card service department. I picked up and he said do you have a Costco Visa card? I said yes, he said your card were charged couple thousands dollars from UK and asked me if I purchased something from UK vendor? I said no, maybe my card was compromised. Scammer said, no worry, we detected it and will handle it for you now. Do you use Costco card for Apple Pay? I said yes, he said there were 3 charges from Apple Pay we stopped and need to reverse the charge now. Pls click the link we sent you and open it.

Scammer asked me to login to VISA account and share screen display to him, also asked me to open iphone Wallet to show him, I started to doubt why he asked me to reverse the charge? In the past, if any of my card compromised, they will just cancel my card and issue new card and never asked me to do something to reverse the charge.

I refused to click the link and said can you call me back after 20 minutes? I decided to call Costco VISA support directly. Scammer said NO, he can't call me back. I hung up the phone, called Costco VISA 855-378-6467 directly, after 20 minutes wait, I spoke to a representative and he said my account is OK, no suspicious charges at all. I am glad I stopped the scam and like to warn other people to not trust the Caller ID--It can be fake.

literally posted some leather seats for sale of FB market and i had one message that they were interested but to text their wife because they didn’t have FB. So I do just that, normal activity. Until I get this email and her saying that I can’t receive money from her because her Zelle account is a business account. To call the number on the email.

I do cause I’m trying to get rid of the couches, and 1.st flag, accent. Then he asks me to accept a FaceTime call that will be protected by a 3rd party to verify my info so I can receive my money.

Fiishhhyyyyy. But I accept the call. Then she asks me to screen share and to send HIM 499 so that he can unblock my account. Then asks for me to deposit 499 in Cash App and I finally stopped when he wanted me ti buy bitcoin through cash app.

What the hell does that have to do with Zelle?!

So I ask for my money back and to cancel the transaction and give the “buyer” her money back. They say no can do. I ask to speak to the supervisor and he insists on me completing the transaction with him. I demand to speak to his supervisor because I feel uneasy. He tells me that he’ll call soon. Supervisor deadass sounded like first homeboy.

Luckily, I think BOA picked it up and it didn’t go through. PLEASE HEAR MY TRIAL SO THAT YOU DONT FALL FOR THIS.

I’m a 21M and I recently had a hookup with a 40F. I finished inside the condom during the encounter. When I pulled out, the condom had slipped off, but the base ring had stayed outside during sex.
Right after I left though, she asked for $80 for Plan B claiming she had no insurance, which I sent her, and she claimed she took it. She lives in a very shading area But next day she reached out again demanding more money, specifically claiming it was for "urgent STI scanning and medical bills," and sent a photo of a clinic as proof she was in waiting room.

I reverse-image searched it and realized it was a fake stock photo downloaded from Google. It became instantly clear this was a financial extortion scam using my anxiety against me.
Even though I caught her in a lie, I've been dealing with massive health and situational anxiety:my mind keeps telling me what if this what if that.

The Fear of Blocking: She has my real phone number. My biggest fear keeping me from moving on is that if I block her now, she will somehow reach out months down the line claiming there's a child.
I’m currently experiencing severe physical anxiety symptoms (racing heart, loss of appetite, chest tightness) from the adrenaline crash.

I just got an email from my local hospital that scammers have been impersonating MyChart with fake emails, texts, and websites that use the MyChart name and logo.

They say:

“…be cautious of any unexpected message urging quick action, offering a free kit or asking you to log in or verify information.

Don’t click links in unexpected messages.

Access MyChart only through the official app or the address you normally use.

Never share personal, insurance or login details in response to a message you didn't initiate.

When in doubt, don't respond. Contact directly using a published phone number or through your MyChart account.

One fraudulent message offers a free "2026 Medicare Health Kit.” Another links to a fake MyChart site showing incorrect medical records. These messages are designed to trick individuals into clicking a link or sharing personal, insurance or Medicare information. MyChart does not run giveaways or offer free kits. Medical results will come from your care team, not a website pop-up or downloaded file.

MyChart will never ask for your password or verification codes by phone, text or email and will never ask you to run keyboard commands or download a program to verify, unlock or view results.”

I got a call in the morning sometime yesterday, I picked up the phone and a man on the other end, sounds about 40, British, (I like in the UK) and sounded white. He said “I have a missed call from your number?” I looked and I said “no, I never called you.” He said “you did” I responded again reaffirming I didn’t, he said it was strange and we said goodbye and hung up. A couple hours later at 4, again calling me with the same story and when I said he already called me that morning he couldn’t remember and that he just woke up, even though it was 4PM. I got creeped out and wanted to block his number and noticed he called me with two different numbers. And I noticed the day before a number also called me I didn’t recognise which I suspect was him but I didn’t answer as I was busy with a driving lesson, and again about 5 minutes ago a number I didn’t recognise called me but I declined because I think it’s him.

If he calls me again later with the same story what do I even say? Is he trying to scam me somehow? He doesn’t sound AI and I pride myself that I’d definitely pick up on that.

Anyone else experience this?

Tl;Dr Someone claiming I am scamming people out of cryptocurrency has contacted my employer and police with an untrue story.

Edit: Thank you all for the advice/words. I was too worried in the moment and my judgement was clouded. Looking back I shouldn't of even questioned that it was a scam.

A little under a month ago I got a call from a random local number that I picked up. All I heard was "Hey it's Ian, remember me..." before I hung up because it sounded like an AI/machine and I blocked the number. Additionally, I got a message on Whatsapp from a number from Uzbekistan claiming to be Ian that I also blocked, thinking nothing of it.

The same day my father got an email at work from someone claiming to be Ian with a long story that ultimately claimed that I owed them $7K in crypto. It was alarming that they had my number and my Dad's work email but I just wrote it off as a scammer that hacked something that had both our info on it and moved on.

Fast forward to a few days ago where I get called in by HR at work to discuss an anonymous tip they got from someone claiming I was some sort of crypto scammer. I assumed it was connected to the random email and told them the whole story. They didn't give me any of the information they had presumably for legal reasons so I have no idea what they were sent. I assumed that this person was able to get my employer from LinkedIn but I was still worried that this happened.

Now today I received a call from a detective from my county's financial crimes unit claiming a similar story that I was involved in some sort of crypto thing. I tried to explain the story to them but they did believe what I said (I understand why they would say that though). They claimed that they had information linking back and that they would be looking into it. It felt like they were telling me just to confess. I told them to look into it because I would also like to know since I didn't do anything.

I'm unsure if I'm just being framed or if there is someone out there who stole my identity. Now I'm scared that this could potentially ruin my life and I'm not sure what to do.

Someone called my mom from my phone number. It says my number in the “recently called” tab, and we can’t find any other numbers or anything attached to it.
He demanded a vague ransom, but didn’t give a number., My mom hung up and called back, and it didn’t go to my phone. No one picked up.
She called back a minute later, and I answered the phone. My poor mama is really into true crime, and is terrified of these things!! I just felt so awful.

I don’t really know what to do from here. My local police department said they didn’t really know what to do. (called the non emergency line)

What do I do? Do I do anything? What was that??

Earlier today I got a flood of unsolicited "verify email address" emails, which I know (from this sub!) indicates that there's a real email in there that someone doesn't want me to see. So, I went through them carefully and found a credit card approval from capitol one with my kid's name on it. She just turned 18, and I've been unsuccessfully trying to get her to get credit freezes. I'm sure I've signed up for things on her behalf using my email when she was a minor, so I'm not surprised her name is associated with my email. What I'm confused about is why use my email and not one the scammer controls? They obviously have her ssn, since they were able apply for the card. Why not just use a throwaway email? Any ideas?

Like the title says... I'm getting a lot of one time codes sent to garbage email addresses on a few separate unrelated domains I own (I have catch all implemented, so I see everything).

Very strange. All accounts are locked down with 2fa hardware keys. Not even passkeys or sms 2fa is allowed.

The addresses being sent to are half legit ones and half legit with random characters appended to the end.

It's especially weird that it's across totally unrelated domains.

Nothing is being forwarded out, and if the perpetrators are getting these emails somehow, it's beyond me how they're doing it.

Any thoughts?

I’m pretty sure this is a scam at this point, but the threats have genuinely freaked me out and I’d really like to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar.

This originally started when I was talking to someone online that had contacted me on X. They offered to send me money just for talking to them. Eventually, they gave me bank information to make a payment of about $1,900 toward my credit card. The payment went through and currently shows as completed on my account.

And then today the person told me they needed $1,000 from me and wanted me to use my credit card to purchase Apple gift cards. They claimed they would give the $1,000 back to me later that night. I did not do this and began to ignore this person and then later today i get a text from a supposed assassin saying if i don’t give the money back that they’ll find me and my family and kill us. The most concerning part for me was they had my old address and my name which isn’t as concerning to me because I had previously sent my zelle tag.

They had said “Your number and pictures has been sent to all our assassin agents in your state, -insert state name here- and we are able to locate your address. -attach old address here-. You have less than 30 minutes to send back the money to Mr Jeff,you BASTARD!!! Or else you're getting

killed with your loved ones, BASTARD!” And they also attached 3 photos of like dead people.

I have bad anxiety So obviously this freaked me out. I blocked them and the person i was initially talking to on everything. I’m just a bit shook up.

A person put a note on our front door, saying their packet was delivered to our house. We did have a packet delivered, but it was our package.

I reached out to let them know that the package is ours. I figured since they knew our address, I wouldn’t want them angry after no response.

I gave them proof that it was our package, just showing the address (my bad, i figured since they already knew where we lived it would be okay. I told them to reach out to amazon for assistance, but they kept sending proof of their package being at our home (picture of package on our front porch, tracking id matching ours).

He went on to send a screenshot with the last few digits of our phone number and asked for our full name for him to make a report. What was the end goal here? Could they do something with just our address and tracking id?

Note: i know i should’ve stopped answering or not reached out at all, but i was being naive and trying to be a good person. TIA!

My account is in an absurd situation and currently under investigation

Timeline of events:

Sept 2, 10:30 AM: I received an unexpected €400.19 from an unknown sender.

Sept 2, 11:00 AM: I immediately reported this via internal messaging and PayPal Chat as an erroneous transfer. I do not sell anything. My account history since 2011 consists strictly of personal outgoing payments.

Sept 2, 11:10 AM: A chat representative instructed me to do nothing, not to refund it manually, and to leave the funds untouched.

Sept 3, 9:20 PM: The sender opened a dispute, claiming they bought 2 Michelin tires from me.

The funds are now frozen, and my balance shows a negative transaction fee (-5,xxx HUF). Since I am a victim of an apparent scam, I obviously cannot provide the requested shipping tracking numbers or commercial documents.

They even asked to remotely access my computer and update the profile themselves. 😳

Needless to say… I PASSED. 😂

If a “job opportunity” requires you to:
❌ Lend your LinkedIn account
❌ Pretend to be someone else
❌ Give remote access to your computer
❌ Share passwords or OTPs

🚩 RUN.

Job hunting can be exhausting, especially when you're eager for an opportunity, but don't let desperation make you ignore the red flags.

We were recommended the pet rescue company through Facebook. And they insist we pay them money before they even start the service? They said they needed 150 for the service that we already paid. and then said they need an additional 100 for medical care. They showed us their drone license and keep guaranteeing they will bring our cat home.

Tl:Dr: My mom got scammed a large sum of money and I'm desperate for answers.

Yesterday my mom called me to go with her, she was on her phone with a supposedly bank manager and he was telling her that her account got breached. She was panicking, so did I and we we're really ignorant to see that it was a scam and that we we're handing him the money by transfer.

My mom got really nervous because in one point the scammer made us wait (don't know why) and called another phone, this was the official bank phone and just then did they tell us they scammed us.

I've never really used Reddit before but my brother talks about it like a good site to ask for asking things and such, I'm very much desperate for anything that you can think of, I can't let them get away with making my mother cry and 10K euros.

If you're willing to respond to this post, we've already went to the police to start an investigation so that's off the table, any ideas will help, thank your for taking the time to read.

I received an email the other day from walmart(dot)com with a verification code. I just deleted the email because I haven't used walmart(dot)com since 2020. Then today I got another email welcoming me (assuming a new account was created) and then a few hours later a confirmation of an order placed. The address is in the US but not my address (or even state) and the credit card listing the last 4 digits don't match any of my cards. But the email address is my exact email (no periods mixed in or anything). I didn't think I had an account under that email, but I checked my email archive and in 2020 I did order something and did use that email address.

I went to walmart(dot)com and tried to report someone using my email. But it wanted me to log in or create a new account. I couldn't log in because it kept wanting to verify it was me by texting a phone number, but the phone number isn't mine. I tried to create a new account just to get into their chat, but any email I use says "cannot create account".

So I can't contact walmart without an account and I can't log into my existing account or create a new one. I tried to delete the account and tried to edit the account, but everything eventually leads to "verify it's you with a text message" and the number isn't my number.

Someone either hacked my unused account or managed to create a new account with my email address. I'm not overly concerned since they're not using my card number so I'm not losing anything, but it doesn't sit right that someone out there is using my email account.

Does anyone have any suggestions or had this happen to them? Of course walmart(dot)com has no phone numbers I can call. Everything is chat based. In order to get to chat I need a walmart(dot)com account. Their identity theft portal has me faxing them documentation or suggest I contact the FTC. This isn't really an identity theft, though, just an email hijack.

Right now, I am selling some bandequipment, i.e. a guitar box, bass amp, effect pedals, and so on, via Ebay. The heavy stuff (speakers, ...) is pick up only.

Then there was this message from a potential buyer, written in English (this is Germany), asking if he can pick up the amp by Saturday, he needs it urgently, and the auction is still running by then.

My red flags were: Selling outside ebay, time pressure, different language. If he were a musician on tour, he'd be sending me his bandwebsite- link or something like that.

I said "no". The following week, the auction got automatically relisted. Once again**, the same person** wrote me a massage again, this time asking for a "buy now" option, and still everything very urgent. In order to add the "buy now" option for a reasonable price, I had to lower the auction starting bid. I thought that this was the trick, but I did it anyway.
No bidding, nothing, no message, even after I did exactly what I was asked for. Two days later I put everything back to as it was.

Then a second person wrote me an mail about a effect pedal, asking if I got more then one. I said "no". Then he said that he is a bass player from Ghana, moving to Germany soon, and that we could connect then. I didn't reply.

My red flags were: Question somewhat strange, unclear what he wants, different language, no mention of what kind of music he plays, no mention of the city. Seemed to me a bit like Informationgathering.

Today, this person bought that effect pedal, auction has ended, ebay says "money received", and he is asking me if I could send it immediately (not next week) to this address in Hamburg, because he has a gig upcoming this weekend.

My red flags were: Two days ago, he was in Ghana and moving to Germany was somewhat in the future. Now he has a gig on Saturday. Does this Band ever rehearse? Time pressure,

I said I am out of town, and the amount of shipping days in the auction clearly says one week.

Red flag: Time pressure. If he is a professional, he could walk into any music store and buy that pedal new, especially if he wants to make sure he has it in two days.

What I don't get: How does the scam work?

These are Airbnb/VRBO listings in Niagara Falls, NY. The homes are marketed as renovated, close to the Falls, and costs hundreds of dollars per night.

The attached reviews repeatedly describe the surrounding neighborhoods as unsafe, rundown, boarded up, abandoned, or misleadingly presented in the listing.

Some guests say they left without staying.

I’m not saying every expensive rental in a bad neighborhood is automatically a scam. I’m asking whether marketing the renovated house while giving tourists little idea of the immediate surroundings crosses into misleading advertising.

I was just searching for a smoke detector and a good deal popped up on the search engine, indicating it was Walmart… I clicked the link, added to my cart, then started checking out… the login page came up and I entered my username/password, but it said it was invalid. Which was the first red flag. I checked the URL and it was Walmart.jsxnc.com 🤦🏻‍♀️

I immediately went to the Walmart app and changed my password. Then I changed any other places where I used the same password (yeah, I know, I’m not great at having different passwords for each and every different web site).

But what the heck? When I looked this URL up, nothing specific came up… but definitely similar issues in the past, with Walmart.xxxxxx.com sites. The annoying thing is that google identified the ad as Walmart, so I didn’t think anything about it.

Found a post on my local neighborhood app that a studio was available to rent, the lady told me about the application fee which was $70 (it also included saving the reserved time slot of view the place) I sent it on venmo and then she sent the address. I show up and they told me no one under that name lives there...what do i do. I checked my bank account and it doesn't show that it went through yet, but on venmo it does. How long does it typically take to transfer the money out? How can I get it back

Posting for my friend- Yes, they absolutely missed some of the flags, this is not to make them feel dumb but rather to share the scam with others.

While applying for work I applied for and was contacted by "United Thai Boxing & MMA" in North Carolina, for a fully remote position, 25$ an hour, 20-40 hours a week for simple data entry and report filing on request.

They wanted to communicate with me via signal, I assumed it was due to their international travels. "Bernice Murphy" facilitated every step. I passed an interview, signed an offer letter and even filled in a workday style onboarding form. It's likely the website is their own making so they were probably able to take my address, banking information and social security number from the "W2" I filled out.

It wasn't until they sent me a digital check for 2,378.23 that the red flag really showed. They assured me that "this was normal, to use this money to purchase the equipment I would need before my first day of work." And the pressure to cash the check began.

I called City National bank in California, confirmed that the routing number matched the check, but the signature between the offer letter and the check did NOT match. Unfortunately the associate of the bank could not verify any information beyond that.

I had to wait until the MMA gym opened and called to connect with them directly and confirmed it is a scam, they are aware of the scam, but have NOT posted anywhere on their social media that they are being used as a base for the scam.

I try to support people in Gaza when I can but it's usually not financially as I live on SSI money which is below the poverty line and I already explained this to this woman and yet she keeps begging me for money and I said maybe I can donate $5-10 but she's asking for more. I genuinely don't know if this is a real account or someone who stole videos from a woman in Gaza but she keeps begging me specifically and idk why because I already told her I live on SSI and I can't afford sending out big donations. I'm not that active on this app and she kept asking me why I was ignoring her even though I told her I'm not on the app much.

I just don't understand why she doesn't go and ask someone who can afford to donate and some of her texts seem copy and paste and honestly I'm not trusting this account. Is this a scam?
