Being a good parent while your heart is breaking is difficult. You can't just hide away with your emotions so no one has to be burdened with your pain, you don't want to explain what's wrong to every single person you see, you still have to get up and go to work and find a way to put meals on the table and pay all the bills. Anyone who doesn't know what happened will wonder "what's wrong with her" if she can't hide the pain well enough. When work is done, parenthood begins..

So another old tree is coming down at the corner of Chorro and Marsh. It sucks to see.

Yes I’m aware of the safety argument, the potential for cracked and uneven sidewalks, and I still don’t like seeing beautiful trees coming down.

I looked into the Tree Committee and left a comment but we all know I’m just one person and I’m easy to ignore. I can’t attend public comment or hearings because like most people I’m employed during normal business hours.

The city worker on site did mention that they are replacing this tree with two new trees, so that’s a positive.

Call me crazy, I just don’t like seeing trees come down around town. Especially in the heart of downtown.

I’ll be staying in Atascadero this weekend and I’m looking for some intermediate to advance level (3.5-4.0) pickleball in the mornings. Any recommendations where I can drop in and play? Happy to pay too, doesn’t have to be free at the park!

My lady friend and I were looking to take train down to Dana Point for Ohana Festival on 25th-27th of this month but wanted to see if anyone else was going as we could cover gas (roughly $100) to ride down with you. We are staying with my cousin in Costa Mesa. We are both laid back and friendly and train is likely gonna be our approach as I have a cousin in Costa Mesa who we will be staying with so just wanted to reach out to see if anyone was looking for a riding partner. i am suffering from some pain due to an impacted wisdom tooth but the surgeon my dentist recommended me is gonna cost me $1300 with my insurance, would be double without. i applied for the credit line but they rejected me. chc dentists wont accept me because i dont have medi-cal. idk where to go but im worried this is gonna progress into something dangerous.

Hi! I am thinking of moving to SLO or close by. I have lived in Ohio all my life so it would be a big move. I have a few family members in SLO, but can not live with them, but at least I'll know some people. I am in my high 20s and a female. I have 2 college degrees, and prefer a remote job. I know rent is very high, so looking at my options. What else should I consider? Is there a good amount of people in their high 20s/low 30s? How is dating out there? Making friends/Social life? Just trying to consider if small-town Ohio girl could make it work.

Thank you for being a part of the Live Oak Music Festival and KCBX community. Whether you’ve been part of the Live Oak tradition for decades, volunteered for years, attended occasionally, or experienced Live Oak for the first time this year, we are grateful for you.

Unfortunately, we’re writing today with the difficult news that the Live Oak Music Festival will not return in 2027. We are, however, evaluating options for what may be possible for a 2028 iteration of Live Oak. What comes next is not settled, and that's where we need you. Before we plan anything, we want to hear from you to understand what you treasure most about Live Oak – whether it’s the music, the camping, the people, the place, or something we haven't thought of.

The decision is not about one challenge, but several.

Last year, federal funding for public media was eliminated. KCBX must raise an additional $420,000 annually to maintain our current operations and programming. With those increased funding pressures, KCBX can no longer take the financial risks or commit the resources necessary to sustain a three-day camping festival.

The festival's staffing, operational, and liability demands are more than our small station can sustain. Costs for talent, supplies, services, and insurance have increased over the years, while festival attendance has significantly declined.

KCBX is a 51-year community treasure. Preserving it is our priority, and this decision is what protects it – now and for the future.

Again, thank you to everyone who has attended and participated in Live Oak over the years, and thank you for caring about and believing in KCBX, your local 100% community-supported public radio station.

A new law was passed that would allow swimming in Santa Margarita Lake (starting next year). It would also allow other boating activities that require water contact. What will or won’t be allowed is unclear but a lot of folks have their concerns.

Trying to purchase tickets for a concert at Avila Beach Golf Resort but Tixr wants to charge $56 in various fees for 2 tickets…which is ridiculous.

I used to purchase physical tickets a Boo Boos but I’ve heard they may not do that anymore. Anyway I can get my tickets without having to pay fees that are equivalent to 50% of a single ticket?

Local dog grooming salon
I posted this a month ago but it was auto flagged so I think it’s gotten lost since being approved.

I have been hearing from the grapevine that one of the newest grooming salons in SLO is recommending A LOT of dogs be sedated, so much so they half of their client list is sedated dogs now. All due to simple behavior issues. I am so appalled and I want to be clear, if you have ANY doubts at all, try calling around again. There are PLENTY of other groomers that will take your pet and work with them to make the process comfortable and sometimes even fun! Their prices might be the cheapest in town but, you quite literally, get what you pay for. I hope to high heavens that this place has security cameras in their “individualized grooming spaces.”

Hi! We’ll be visiting Pismo and will be arriving into town around lunch time; however, we will be towing our small trailer. Anyone have lunch spot recommendations that will have easy in/out access and a large enough lot for us to park (we will take up two spaces due to our trailer)?
