AI or no AI, that is the question!
Hey there 👋
I am opening my own Sound Effect market place to other sound designers who wish to sell on my platform, and the question of the use of AI in the creation process for sound effects came up.
Initially the policy that I was aiming for was strictly NO AI ! (still is at this point). But am I right to ban any AI intervention in all sound effects, or am I being old fashion and out of touch with the modern World?
I stand firm on not selling sound effects that were 100% generated by AI, they are crap anyway. But a few sound designers asked if it was OK to have AI assisted sound effects, meaning that part of the creation process is made by a human, who used AI to improve the final result.
There are actually 2 types of AI assisted sound effects from what I gathered:
- Start with an AI generated sound effect, and the human intervention comes after to improve the sound.
- Or the other way around, the sound designer created the sound effects and uses AI for mixing, mastering or other possible improvements.
I am honestly not very comfortable with the first option, and a bit more with the second one.
What do you think? I would love some feedback from anyone who has an opinion 🙂
Thanks and take care 🙌
Olivier
