Do Dominican Republic resorts keep your physical passport for the entire stay?

Quick question for anyone who’s stayed at an all-inclusive in Punta Cana (or anywhere in the DR) recently.
At check-in they obviously ask for your passport. Do they just scan/photocopy it and give it back, or do some resorts actually hold onto the physical passport for the whole stay?
I don’t want to leave my original passport at the front desk the entire time if I can avoid it.
Thanks.

Riu Republica - October 1st - 6th

Hello all,

Visiting Punta Cana and staying at Riu Republica for about a week. Any recommendations? We are traveling as a bachelor party and are open to exploring outside of the hotel. We know the pool is amazing and mornings will be spent drinking and socializing, but besides the Riu parties at night what else is there to do?

Thanks!

all inclusive hotel recommendations

as the title says we are hoping to plan a boys trip to punta cana in late march but don't know what all inclusive resort to go to since every one of them has mixed reviews, we don't want to go to one that has too many families in it and the 18+ ones tend to have a lot of old people in it (from my experience outside of punta cana), we could go an a non all inclusive hotel but need good food spots lol

Delicious dessert

My boyfriend and I went to Punta Cana and I had the most delicious dessert there. It kind of reminded me of a coconut rice pudding. But that’s definitely not what it was. It’s definitely had coconut in it and there was cinnamon on top. Does anybody have any idea what the dessert is? đŸ„„

Hello! We’re traveling to Punta Cana in December and want to know who your favorite airport transportation service is! We are staying at Live Aqua but booked with Expedia because flights were INSANE and they offered a good package deal.
Thank you 😊

What beer and bourbon/whiskey brands are generally available at the Majestic Mirage. Have a couple of travelers in our group who like something better than Jack Daniel’s in the evening. Thanks!

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana

We will be going to the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana for our honeymoon in a few weeks. We went to the Zilara Cancun a few years ago and loved it! From what I understand Cap Cana is bigger with more options through the resort. A few questions:

-did you pre-arrange a shuttle to the resort from the airport? We did this in Cancun as the taxi/uber situation can be hostile and I’m not sure if this is the case in the DR too?

-do we need to book anything (spa, restaurant reservations, excursions) before arriving or will we be able to do those things when we arrive?

Any other helpful info appreciated. Thanks!

Saludos!!!!

Secrets Cap Cana - Beer, Bourbon & Cigars

Hi everyone! We’re considering Secrets Cap Cana and had a few questions for those who have been recently.

What beer options are available besides Presidente? Do they have Modelo?

How is the bourbon selection overall?

And lastly, is the resort pretty cigar-friendly? Are there good places to sit outside and enjoy a cigar in the evening?

Thanks!
