A lot of people dont vote in non-swing states because their 'vote doesnt matter' for the general election. This would increase participation across the board which would (if data is accurate) support democratic candidates overall.

Additionally, it could help 3rd parties become more viable as well

That works for both sides though.

In practice, while dems usually enjoy a slight numerical advantage, reps actually make it to the polls more frequently so it tends to balance out.

Election day should be a national holiday, AND there should be more widespread vote by mail.

Republicans work to disenfranchise voters legally (ID to vote, etc.) and also make it harder to vote by closing voting stations, limiting hours, etc. Republicans make it to the polls more frequently because they tend to be retired, better off financially, and any red area is teeming with voting places.

Which is why it is helpful to look at US house popular vote. Republicans had nice margins in 2024 and 2022.
