I mean it was first thought of when they were writing the constitution. The less populated states said "Naw, I don't think we want to join this new country if thats how its gonna work." They countered with giving every state equal votes for president.

Exactly right. It should also not be forgotten in this discussion that "more" vs "less" populated at the time didn't count slaves; the "less populated" states we had to compromise for in developing the electoral college were the slave states.
Not really, the New Jersey plan was mostly only supported by New Jersey, New York and Delaware at the time, due to their lower populations. Virginia was the most vocal for wanting a popular vote, and they had the most slaves by far, almost triple that of the South Carolina with the second highest amount.
I think you're referring to the three fifths compromise though, where the Sputhern states wanted slaves to count as population, but the North didn't, so they agreed that they equaled 3/5s of a person.
I think what we're all saying here is that this isn't a new idea. While I'm all for it, this push over and over for it is not radical or new. I also see why I may be biased for it given I'm in a populous state.
Buttigieg is a strong candidate. Idk who all is running in 2028, but of the one's I'm aware of I think he's my favorite. Anytime I hear him speak lately I like what he has to say
Of course not, and he shouldn't be either because he's not qualified and he couldn't win, but that's beside the point.
I'm not touting myself as the originator of the idea. I'm saying that even children 60 years ago could see the unfairness of it. Millions of people have recognized this before he was born.
And I know he knows that, and he is not claiming to be the originator of the idea. But the meme is suggesting this genius politician has a novel, controversial, daring, idea worthy of debate, and that just isn't true.
I think you're reading that tone into it yourself. I don't think anyone is trying to pass it off as his own novel idea, the headline is that he's actually making it part of his policy platform. Not all candidates are, most are not
There's definitely 2 sides to the story. Gut feelings from 8 years old usually aren't great.
Abolishing it would likely end up in something similar to the Commonwealths in Fallout's United States (Abolishing the electoral college is a huge win for corporations, which is why the Taco supported it)
It’s wasn’t a “gut feeling.” It was explained to me, and I could immediately see that it was unfair representation because there were way more people in my state of NJ than places like Wyoming but each state had the same number of Senators. It really is child level logic.
Did you? Looks like it got removed for some reason. All you asked is what my argument was and I pointed out that my argument is in the comment you replied that to. Abolish the electoral college so everybody’s votes count equally regardless of where you live.
Why would you be against everybody’s votes being equal
