In true Auth-Right fashion, read the boxes right to left because it is always right first.

From the masterpiece of a movie: "Isla: She Wolf of the SS"

The original conversation:

Ilsa: you are blonde

Wolfe: I was born in Germany

I: you are not German?

W: I am an American

I: why are you not in a camp for prisoners of war?

W: I was a student in Germany when my country declared war. I have been in camps ever since

I: your country? You are German!

W: that was something beyond my control.

Response to this thread: Behold: The Enlightened Centrist Position of Flock

Admittedly, I'm using Auth as an escape goat here, since I saw even some Libs making arguments in favor of FLOCK, but most were Auth and, ideologically, this is an Auth position.

Now, this post is meant to generate a discussion about FLOCK and my objective is to convince you that this is a horrible system that does not solve crime, but increases government and private companies control over you.

Some introduction videos I think are good to introduce the discussion:

- Louis Rossman: Consent Matters

- Fireship: How FLOCK works in 5 minutes

My main argument is in line of the famous Benjamin Franklin line: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

FLOCK is taking your freedom of privacy with the promise of solving crimes. Will it help solving crime? Maybe. Will it significantly reduce your privace? 100%.

Also remembering, this is a private company working with the government, so you will be tracked by the government, giving them oportunities to unconstitutionally haress you on your commutes, and also be tracked by a company to sell your data. Want to go to another state, when you don't usually go? Get ready to be stopped for no reason and a cop asking you "Why are you so far away from home". Receiving more Burger King ads then normal? Well, you did go to McDonalds a lot this week, the competitor knows where you go and wants to sway you with this knowledge.

Tools already exist to avoid FLOCK cameras too. We cannot underestimate criminals, sure you will get your convinince store robber once in a while, maybe solve a murder or two. But what is the proportion of crime resolved in comparison to freedom removed? Does the math make sense?

Crime, at its core, is not resolved with survaillance. You give a criminal a puzzle, they will solve it. This is Kludgeocracy, which is "because people always find ways around a direct law, governments stop making simple laws. Instead, they layer temporary fixes on top of older temporary fixes. This results in an incredibly complex, labyrinthine system of obstacles that citizens endlessly navigate around". After FLOCK doesn't work, what fix will the government implement in name of stopping crime?

You should only ever give the government enough power to act, otherwise, they will take advantage of you.

Extra context to get a better idea: the Italian constitution says that to shuffle a ministry to another party the prime minister has to resign and form a new government. But because European parliamentary systems are party first, candidate second (unlike the US), it's fine since parliament will just vote for a new government with the current parliamentary composition. So basically, many Italian prime ministers have technically governed in more than one "government" in-between general elections with the only actual difference being one or some ministers or even the prime minister themselves. Still a huge accomplishment tho
