Monthly r/Pixar Ranking/Tier Thread

It's that time of the month again; Ranking Time! To keep the subreddit less cluttered with everyone and their mom's rankings, we're going to use this thread specifically for the community to post their rankings/tiers.

Please note: This thread now includes any sort of Pixar-related ranking/tiers, so you can include your favorite characters, shorts, or any category you'd like.

So here we go! Post your rankings, tell what your favorites are and why, etc! Just remember, while you may not agree with a user's list, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they don't have to explain their choices to you if they don't want to, and there are no wrong answers. Everything is subjective. SO PLAY NICE! ;)

Mod Approved [Product Trial] Which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? Test the LG Sound Suite with your Pixar movies & find out!

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi r/Pixar users!

After the great response to our previous LG OLED G6 trial program, we’re back with another opportunity to explore what makes a great home movie experience.

For Pixar fans, sound is a big part of the storytelling experience, and the right setup can make everything from quiet character moments to large cinematic scenes feel more immersive.

So, which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? A suitable system should combine wireless speakers, flexible placement, and room-aware calibration so you can position speakers around your space without relying on a traditional fixed layout.

That’s why we’re running a review event with r/Pixar where two (2) Redditors will get the chance to try the LG Sound Suite Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro and share their honest thoughts with the community.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro H7 + 4 M7 + W7
  • H7: the world’s first Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) soundbar, designed as a high-end Dolby Atmos soundbar for an immersive home audio setup
  • M7: wireless speaker featuring 3 full-range speaker units and 1 woofer
  • W7: wireless subwoofer featuring an 8-inch Peerless woofer

The M7 wireless speakers and W7 wireless subwoofer let you build a multi-speaker TV setup without running speaker signal cables between the units across the room.

What Are the Main Advantages of Home Audio Systems with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect?

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect(DAFC) allows greater flexibility in speaker placement while adapting the surround sound experience to the actual speaker positions and room environment. Rather than requiring a traditional fixed layout, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) analyzes each speaker’s position and the room environment to intelligently optimize the surround sound experience.

With the LG Sound Suite, you can experiment with different M7 speaker locations and see how the system responds while watching your favorite Pixar movies.

How Do I Calibrate Speakers for an Optimal Spatial Sound Stage?

For an optimal spatial sound stage, calibration should account for speaker placement, the room environment, and the listener’s position.

  • Room Calibration Pro uses spatial recognition technology to analyze your room and listening environment, adding the kind of room calibration capability many people look for when comparing high-end Dolby Atmos soundbars.
  • Sound Follow recognizes the listener’s position and helps create a personalized “sweet spot.”

Together with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, these features let you explore how speaker placement and calibration affect the spatial sound experience in your room.

What Will You Get to Test?

You’ll be able to experiment with different speaker configurations and placements around your TV, then use Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, Room Calibration Pro, and Sound Follow to see how the system adapts to your room and listening position.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro   H7 + M7 ×4 x W7
Immersive Suite 7 Pro H7 + M7 ×2 x W7
Stereo Suite 7 M7 ×2

Featuring H7, M7, and W7 speakers, Sound Suite supports up to 50 different combinations, giving you flexibility to find a setup that works for your listening environment.

For me, it's when Carl realizes what happened to the other explorers Muntz encountered. He's finally meeting his childhood hero, only to slowly realize that he and Russell could be next. What's your pick?

Whats a surprisingly heavy moment in a Pixar movie?

So im a bit biased but for me its in Cars where Doc tells Lightning about his wreck.

"You think I quit? They quit on me! I went back expecting a big welcome and nothing"

Its a movie about talking cars amd up till this point Lightning is a grade A jerk thinking about winning the trophy. But its this conversation I think that he starts to realize its not about that. And hes not sure if its worth it. Here's the biggest star in racing (lightning says his records are still holding even after 60 years) and they passed him by for the next rookie as soon as he was gone. Lightning is missing. But he can still race. Its a good question of when he gets back to the race is he gonna be accepted back? Especially considering the treatment hes given to his crew and Mack.

Its a strong moment but its also a dark reflection on fans and fame and everything pretty. Doc should have been hounded through hos recovery and welcomed back with a parade and cheers. Instead they discarded him.

"You know what they said? Youre history. Moved right onto the next rookie standing in line."

Doc is heartbroken. He didn't want to leave. And speaking as a car girl myself its hard to step away when your behind the wheel. Racing becomes your life. I work on my car everyday. I go to 3 or 4 shows a weekend every weekend. I go to the racetrack all time. And im not a racer. But I can only imagine how much worse it'd feel to be tossed away after a life altering crash like the one Doc has.

I love how they dont throw in any jokes or comedy here. They let Lightning sit with this. He's looking at his hero and seeing how absolutely destroyed he is.

"When was the last time you did something for someone else besides yourself hot rod?"

Its such a dark and sobering moment for Lightning and this is where I argue his character development hits. Its not about Radiator Springs. Its not about racing. Its not about Dinaco or the Piston Cup. Its about keeping stock in your crew. Its about connecting. Its about knowing there's more to people then what you think.

A lot of people give Cars crap but it's scenes like this that prove its more then just talking cars. Its a story about heart

I Saw Cars in Cinemas for it's 20th Anniversary

I had to repost this. Going to see this on the big screen after 20 years took me right back to my youth. I love this series so, so much!

One little takeaway after countless times seeing it; I had NO idea our cars teared up! I noticed it when the press stormed Radiator Springs and Lightning and Sally are saying their "goodbyes", then again when Sally watches Lightning push The King to the finish.

What a movie!! So, so good. Do you have any nifty Easter eggs?

Discussion Do you think the Underminer will return in Incredibles 3?

Post image

I don’t think he will return, especially since John Ratzenberger is no longer in every Pixar movie. And even if he still was in every Pixar movie, they could always find a different role for him to play in Incredibles 3. But as for the Underminer, I think he’s long gone.

Opinion Hot take: the "Kitty has to go" scene from Monsters Inc is the saddest scene in Pixar history.

Now, I know this scene has a happy ending with Boo getting reunited with Sully, but dang it all if I didn't start badly crying when he said "Kitty has to go", and then when Boo opens the closet door only to just find a closet...this scene just brought me to tears. And that's not to say that Ellie's death from Up isn't heartbreaking either, but when I last watched the Monsters Inc scene (Which was just a couple minutes ago) I was honestly surprised at how much I cried.

Heavier Kid Focus In Pixar Projects Made Under Pete Docter

Something I've noticed with Pixar projects made under Pete Docter's tenure is the heavier focus on kid characters or showing more of their perspectives. We have movies like Luca, Turning Red, and Elio starring kids/young teens. Movies like Toy Story 5 and Inside Out 2 show more of the perspective of the kid/young teenage characters. Incredibles 3 also seems to have this given how Dash and Violet are apparently getting more focus. Pixar's first original series not based on established franchises, Win Or Lose, is about middle schoop kids. Also, while it's only approved by Pixar and not made by Pixar, Cars: Lightning Racers is being made for Disney Junior. This isn't a complaint, but more that he has a different style of doing things.

Toy Story I became a music transcriber

Hi everyone! I learned how to transcribe music during the pandemic. I’ve always been a fan of songs from animated shows, so I used to figure them out by ear to play them. Eventually, I wanted to learn how to write them down musically, so I studied music theory, harmony, instrumentation, and everything else I could by watching videos.

At first, I would just write out the bass, drums, and guitar parts, but I eventually progressed to arranging full songs and doing sound design. I’d love to show you a bit of my work,

The example video features the song "Strange Things" by Randy Newman; there are some minor sound issues because I am not a professional.

There’s a link in my channel description to my musescore page where you can download some scores in MIDI or MuseScore format if you like. 👍😁

There are videos on YouTube that explain how to download MuseScore files for free

Finding Nemo Twisted Tale book idea- What if Darla killed Nemo and Marlin went insane?

For those of you who don't know, Twisted Tales "is an anthology series of books based around alternate "What if" spins on Disney and Pixar animated films".

After seeing Darla kill his son, Marlin is furious and goes insane, waging a war against humans, while Dory's part of an underground group with Nemo's school friends trying to stop him.

I doubt Disney would ever allow such a book because it's quite dark lol
