my latest ocean painting!🤍I wanted to do an ocean piece that really radiated warmth, especially now that we’re finally moving into the new season soon! I really used to struggle with ocean pieces (and “liquid” paintings in general) but, I really love how this came out! second slide is a closer shot of some of the details :’)
made with acrylic on canvas!

Hi! I've been working with the Oceanic Society to create this video series about turtles and the dangers they face. Help us spread the word! Thanks!

Been out with the One With Whales team in Dominica a few times now. Honestly the thing that i loved me most was the sound, not what I expected to be the highlight at all.
Before anyone gets in the water they use hydrophones to find the whales. You can hear the clicks clearly, constant echolocation. But then sometimes you get these patterned sequences, codas, which are basically how the different clans communicate with each other. Dominica has a resident population that's part of a larger southern Caribbean community of around 400 individually documented whales. Some of these pods have been studied for decades.
One more thing that i found very intersting was how little you actually see. These animals dive for over an hour at a time. What happens at the surface is basically just the breathing break.
They keep it to six guests max and only three in the water at once. The Armour family who run the local side have been working these waters for generations and honestly the whales behave differently around boats they recognize.
If anyone wants the specifics on how the in-water protocol works or the permit situation in Dominica this page has helped me: https://www.onewithwhales.com/swim-with-sperm-whales-in-dominica
Anyone else spent time around sperm whales? I'd love to know what the sound experience was like for others.

Filmed on the west coast of Guernsey.
There had been plenty of decent swell off the Atlantic, but I’d been at this spot for around half an hour and nothing had come close to reaching the camera like this.
One much larger wave suddenly came across the rocks and soaked it. I had to get down and grab the camera pretty quickly - a second wave arrived moments later and I’m fairly sure it would have taken the camera with it.
A useful reminder that watching the sea for 30 minutes doesn’t tell you what the next 30 seconds will do. Always respect the ocean. 🌊

Diving in Antigua is so beautiful ❤️. Cades Reef, on the south coast is so vibrant and lively. We often see sharks, rays, eels and other beautiful underwater wildlife.
Seeing a turtle 🐢 grazing sea grass bed is definitely a unique treat, I'm glad I got the video this time 🥰.
