Drama 🎭 **READ THIS** NFA Injunction/Partial Repeal Megathread v2

Post image
510 Upvotes

Welcome to the new megathread for the injunction on NFA enforcement for SBRs, SBSs, Suppressors/silencers.

The previous megathread with a bunch of speculation, discussion, etc can be found here.

As of this post there has been no clear guidance from the ATF on what the status quo is going forward. Hopefully there will be some later today or tomorrow.

When that happens, I'll update this post.

While this is a huge win for the 2A community, it does not yet mean the doors are thrown open for DIY building or buying without a Form 1 or 4. There's still a lot to untangle with the Gun Control Act of 68, ATF regulations on FFLs, and individual state laws.

Unless info is coming from a reputable legal resource, be cautious before doing anything. It's entirely possible that something that looks legal today could be a felony tomorrow.

All the standard rules of this sub are still being enforced. This especially includes anything that could be interpreted as advocating violating federal law.

We don't want the sub to be shut down by reddit, and the reddit admins know far less about this situation than we do. They could easily nuke us for something they simply don't understand.

The sub is now unlocked for posting.

Any posts on the situation will be removed unless previously coordinated with the mods. We're not going to approve your post unless its especially useful to the community as a whole. Ask your questions, celebrate, etc in this thread only.

Had an issue with a vendor and USPS loosing a 14” barrel a few weeks ago, they also charged me $100 more than the invoice was for (Rat Worx Inc.) my bank is fighting them now to get my money back. I overnighted another barrel for Botach yesterday, it arrived today and slapped it all together. I’ll get a Aimpoint red dot and Surefire light on it. I kind of want a thermal red dot though as this thing gives me Doom or Halo vibes. It’s been reliable and fun to shoot for about 500 rounds now. I’m looking forward to trying out the new barrel and handguard.

• Briley opened up the loading port
• 13” Briley handguard
• A&G trigger guard
• GG&G bolt release + charge handle
• Limbsaver recoil pad
• TTI extended carrier + Saftey Button
• ShootingSights LLC Benelli Hammer
• Shell Tactical follower + titanium tube cap
• Benelli 14” barrel + collapsible stock/pistol grip

Engraving location for M&P 15-22?

Post image
53 Upvotes

Took my newly form 1d M&P 15-22 to the laser engraver today.

We tried to engrave under the trigger guard but that failed.

He suggested engraving on the top of the receiver as we had done a test run and confirmed he wasn’t going to damage the lower before trying under the trigger guard.

Is this location a legal spot to have the engraving or do I need to get it redone somewhere else on the receiver?

The picture makes the engraving look like trash but it’s a lot better in person.

RC2 gas to the hands even while using 4 prongs, weird or just reality?

Thumbnail

Have probably close to 4k rounds through my RC2 between various rifles. On my DI guns I obviously notice it more than my piston MR556, but even when using muzzle devices with labyrinth seals my hand is getting blasted with carbon. I never thought anything of it really until at my last match a dude was saying how that only happens to him with MDs without seals. Is this common? should I clean my can out at only 4k?? I’d prefer to not be blasted with lead gas right onto my skin every time I shoot😂

Best mix of sound suppression and low BP

Showing the rifle for a reference of what I'll be using this on. This is a 24" 25 creedmoor JP LRP-07 with a standard SCS(not H2) and .936 detent adjustable gas block. I shoot PRS but I don't care if the can is able to accept an end cap muzzle brake or not. What are some good selections for a good mix of maximum suppression and low(er) back pressure? I know CAT JL, PTR Vent 1, Sig Hexium 300 and good choices but I don't know every good choice and would like some input.

As promised here is my SP5 w/ R9 with the DB Foam in the can. The white stuff is the foam vaporizing. It did actually make it quieter but as you can see it only lasts for so long before it runs out.

Again smoky but not as bad and honestly it's not noticeable when you're shooting.

I'll do some testing next with my Pol K on my Mk18 Clone.

Mount Questions 🔩 Securing Hub to suppressor

New to suppressors and I don’t have a vise grip to properly secure my suppressor while installing my hub mount. The recommended torque for the suppressor being used is 30ft-lbs but I’m unable to get it this tight. Is rocksett an alternative to the recommended torque? The most I’m able to get it tightened to is 20lbs but not sure if rocksett is enough to compensate for the 10 less ft-lbs.

Let the can cool and did another test. This time not inside a giant ass empty hangar so here's what it sounds like outside it. The phone makes it still a lil louder than it actually is.

Downside is it's still smoky, not like getting gassed out by a suppressed AR but it's just how it be.

Upside is that it keeps the carbon from building up in the can and makes it easy to wipe out

Its way better on my bigger R9, I'll probably post a video of that later.

Anyways weird product, I need to test it on a few other cans and see how it goes.

5320.20 Approval Oddity

I got a couple of 5320.20 approval emails today and the included PDF has DRAFT stamped across it, no approval/denial box checked, and no ATF signature. I signed into eforms and they show approval there as well.

I guess that means they are approved? Not really sure how to handle this or if I should do anything about it?

Discussion NFA Injunction Charges Being Dismissed

https://www.inforum.com/news/fargo/texas-ruling-leads-to-dismissal-of-gun-charge-in-fargo-could-impact-street-fair-arrest-case

FARGO — Last month, a man walking around the Downtown Fargo Street Fair with a short-barreled rifle slung around his chest created a stir, prompting law enforcement to ask him to put the gun away.

The following day, the same man, 27-year-old Owen Stish, of Minot, again showed up to the annual downtown event, this time without the rifle but in possession of two 30-round magazines loaded with 5.56 caliber ammunition, the kind used in the gun he'd carried the day before.

Fargo officers contacted agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and were informed that Stish was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, and Stish was arrested.

Stish was initially charged with illegally possessing guns as a person with mental disorders, but that charge was dismissed in lieu of another: receiving or possessing a firearm regulated by the National Firearms Act that was not registered to him.

The NFA was enacted in 1934 as a tax with the goal of eliminating the kind of firearms that were considered the tools of the trade for gangsters and the mob, most notoriously submachine guns commonly known as Tommy Guns, as well as short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and silencers, also called suppressors.

Up until last year, anyone wishing to purchase and possess one of those weapons has been required to pass an extensive background check, register the firearm with the ATF and pay a tax.

But then Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 4, 2025. Among the tax provisions in the landmark legislation was the elimination of taxes on most firearms, including those regulated by the NFA.

A short time later a gun rights foundation filed a lawsuit in Texas, claiming that without the tax, the NFA's registration requirements were rendered unconstitutional. Several states, including North Dakota, joined in the suit, and earlier this month, a Texas judge ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, effectively striking down restrictions that had been in effect for almost 100 years.

While the judge's order was narrow in that it applied only to the plaintiffs in the case before him, the decision is expected to have wide-ranging implications for cases like Stish's, at both the state and federal level.

For now, the charge against Stish will go forward. Jennifer Puhl, first assistant U.S. attorney for the District of North Dakota, told The Forum that federal prosecutors have "no intention of dismissing" the case, and that the office intends to "continue to defend the constitutionality of the National Firearms Act."

But already this week, another charge, filed against 21-year-old Quincy Morey, of Wahpeton, by Cass County prosecutors, was dismissed, largely as a result of the Texas ruling.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, Judge Stephanie Hayden accepted a motion to dismiss submitted by Matthew Keller, Morey's attorney, for the charge of possession or sale of machine guns, auto rifle, silencer or bomb.

The charge was based on a state law, which is dictated by the very provisions of the NFA that the Texas ruling deemed unconstitutional, Keller argued in his brief supporting the motion.

Morey was pulled over in May after a Fargo officer saw him run a red light and hit a curb. Morey's blood alcohol was measured at .142 and he was arrested.

The officer's subsequent search of Morey's vehicle turned up a pistol with a silencer attached. The stop quickly turned from a misdemeanor DUI case to a felony gun one for Morey based on his possession of the silencer, which Morey told officers he made himself.

In his brief, Keller argued that not only does the section of state Century Code under which Morey was charged rely "entirely on the NFA's validity for enforcement," the fact that the state of North Dakota was a party "to the very lawsuit that sought to enjoin the federal government from enforcing the aforementioned provisions of the NFA" barred state prosecutors from taking an inconsistent position against Morey.

Cass County prosecutors did not argue against Keller's motion, and Hayden dismissed the felony charge against Morey on Wednesday afternoon.

A call to the federal public defender appointed to represent Stish to inquire about the possibility of a similar request in that case was not immediately returned Thursday afternoon.

Tisha .30 Ti on an AR-10?

Has anybody played with the Tisha .30 on an AR-10 or any semi-auto .308? Keep hearing how good the 5.56 model is, and I'm quite curious how the .30 cal version does with a 16" .308.

Would be grabbing a Ti model as I'm building up a lightweight AR-10, and don't plan on burning the can down with heavy consistent use.
