The new public library in Manchester, Connecticut that is replacing an older, smaller and overcramped Mary Cheney Library down the street.

I think it looks nice and modernized. As of right now, the grand opening for the new library is scheduled for next month. Opens Monday September 14

I have lived here for three years. Originally, it was quiet. Occasionally someone would speed and that was about it. Now, its downright horrendous and I am glad to be leaving.

I have spent time in slums in Spain, Turkey and England and the people there have more self respect, values and common decency then they do here. The people of this town regularly break the law by ceaselessly shooting fireworks at all hours of the night, racing their cars or motorcycles down residential streets, stealing packages from our porch or just selling or smoking drugs from their homes. Our area has had a couple of shootings in the last 18 months as well.

Not to mention, everyone feels entitled to just blast their music whether it be 7am or 11pm. People will smoke crack and meth walking down the sidewalk.

Now children are trespassing our properties, destroying our fences and entering our yards to chase our cats with no regard for deceny or privacy to boot.

Worst of all? Literally no one cares. The police don't bother to respond to calls. The town council regularly ignores residents or stay silent. They won't even allow residents to vote on propositions, either.

I have never been so utterly disappointed with people then I have with the people of Manchester, CT. No one has any shame or guilt. Complete self absorption. People wallowing in their own filth and complete lack of morals or 'common' decency.

I doubt anyone will see or read this. I needed to vent. I am glad I am leaving this cesspool.

Cruise Nights at Golf Land in Vernon, CT on Friday nights from 4pm-sunset

I've been to other cruise nights all over the state and this one is spectacular. With over a hundred (or sometimes 150+) old cars every week, this Friday night show is worth going to if you're a classic car enthusiast.

There's a wonderful DJ who plays good ol' music, BBQ stand, ice cream next door at Coneheads Creamery and a golf course at Golf Land.

They even give out trophies to the top three random picked cars weekly

Come in on a beautiful Friday night and spend some time browsing some cool cars and hang out with cool people.

Classic car owners, fans or locals: If you haven't been to Golf Land for a Friday night car show, check it out. It's worth the drive!

My husband and I are moving to Hartford/ Manchester for work and I’m wondering how to navigate the daycare there. Where are the best daycares ? Are there certain daycares that require a waiting list? How long do you have to be on the list? Are there age limits to your recommendations?

The town is looking into ideas on how to repurpose the soon-to-be former library on Main Street.

Tickets are $20 for adults and seniors; students and veterans are free. Looks like cash or check only at the door.

If you haven't been before, the Friends of Music bring in such remarkably talented musicians. I've been left with my jaw on the floor on so many occasions to see and hear what some of them can do. All performances are free to the public and donations accepted.

This is the final performance of this year's concert series. They'll presumably start back up in October, if it goes like previous seasons.

If it affects your comfort level - there is no "churchiness" whatsoever to these events, aside from the kind use of the location. No sermons or prayers before/during/after - just a beautiful building with beautiful music.

As a soloist and chamber musician, he has participated at numerous music festivals and collaborated with renowned musicians. He is also a composer and arranger of classical and contemporary music and is a strong advocate of teaching and bringing classical music to young and underserved communities.

If you haven't been to this music series before, these performances are amazing. They bring in such incredibly talented musicians. Admission is free and donations are accepted. We've been several times, and there is always plenty of seating. Lovely building too!
