Announcement

I am making this announcement to be more active in this sub to prevent certain people from trying to take this sub (that I created) away from me. I will be taking a more active role here to prevent this.

This sub is basically a no rules sub (within reason). I will hwever remove SPAM.

I made this sub for discussion of lockpicking and non lockpicking bypass methods. Because other lockpicking subs are overly restrictive.

WARNING TO USERS: Do not try to enforce rules from other subs in THIS sub

Feel free to comment and ask questions. I am not an uptight/ hardass mod

Moved into fixer-upper. Kid's bathroom has a keyed lock and, of course, we were never provided with a key. Today one of the kids accidentally locked it and closed it and now we are locked out. Don't worry, kiddo isn't trapped in there.

We've got more than enough to fix and don't want to add a broken door to the list. I'm open to trying anything and don't mind buying some tools if necessary.

SUCCESS! Enormous thanks to everyone for their input. I am actually getting the Gensis set from Covert Instruments and some practice locks too. Sometimes Reddit really is great thank to people like all of you.

Help accessing storage closet at small business

I’m the owner of the business. I believe one of my kids hit what I presume is the button on the other side of this lock and then when the door shut a week ago it locked us out. I’ve spent sometime working with the covert instruments kit and am hoping to be able to unlock it myself, but 15-20 minutes have so far come up empty. I believe the lock is a Schlage SC1 from my research.

Any guidance or video recommendations would be lovely. Trying to learn a skill and save some money on a locksmith.

Advise?

My wife and I own these arcade machines and the previous owner did not leave us any Keys. We drilled out and replaced all the locks except these two for the glass door of the large claw. I'm afraid the stress from drilling could break the glass. Any advise for picking? I have no experience outside of watching videos. I'd be open to purchasing a kit with basic pick tools if it'd be simple enough.

Thank you in advance

I went to an off-brand supplier of junk. Im talking about a 15pc Chinese pickset for $6 , Lishi knock-offs 5 for $44 and such. I ended up spending just shy of $200 on a Lot of stuff just to show newbies the difference with my YouTube channel. If you want to see it while I tear up this junk as I review and compare to real lockpicking tools. You can check it out on my YouTube channel

This is my first green belt open but unfortunately I don’t possess the correct tools for gutting the lock on video.

After chasing springs and tiny ball bearings I had enough. I wanted more room to work. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done. This is what I used.TUXIYA 5 PACK Extra Large Storage... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FSQS89B2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Yelock pins 0.086 in diameter

I picked up some electronic deadbolts that I want to rekey to all work with the same key.

My only issue is that the pins seem to be 0.0865 inches in diameter. Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of pins for this?

The locks are made in China and the keys say "YELOCK" on them. The cylinders look like Schlage prime-line e 2103 (as in they have the same dimensions on the outside) and are a 5 pin setup.

Masterlock commercial advice?

I am able to open Master Lock fives no problem at all. For whatever reason the commercial 5 is very difficult to single pin pick. I can rake it open. No sweat but these are built different I think...
