Please use this thread to discuss whatever you've been reading lately. Elaborate (without spoiling!) on an eBook you have recently finished or are currently reading with a short 1-2 sentence synopsis.
Bold the titles of the eBook to help people that are skimming through the thread. Feel free to mention the current Amazon price, if it's on sale.

i got the kindle basic and never looked back. i love the portability of it. i can read a chunky book without having to carry around a chunky book. it fits in most of my purses. i read on my commute and can take it with me for a quick walk to my favorite spot while on break.

Found the perfect use for those little breaks between padel games. A few pages, a few rallies, repeat.
Peak balance, if you ask me. 😌

Hey everyone!
My boyfriend surprised me with a Kindle, and I just gave it a little sticker makeover! 🥰📚
Two years ago, I got a Kobo, and I really love it. However, there are quite a few books I want to read that aren’t available on Kobo, so I decided to get a Kindle as well. And I’m absolutely loving it!!
Last 2 pictures are pictures of my Kobo.
Show me your Kindle! 🥰📚

My Kindle 12th Gen got a little bit wet, and I mean only a little bit, I left it on the kitchen counter and some water was spilled which it sat in for a few minutes.
Now it does not work, after drying it off it was stuck in a boot loop until the battery died, now it just shows this on the screen.
Frustratingly the warranty expired a few months ago so Amazon refusing to replace.
So I guess just be careful not to get them wet as the "waterproofing" is not all that.

Me parece más cómodo agarrarla por la parte más ancha en horizontal pero no encuentro una función para que el texto se voltee 🥺

Since i guess that everyone here is from an english speaking countries, such as USA, England etc. I was wondering, how affordable is kindle for you?
Can an average citizen afford to buy kindle or do you have to save money for months?
If you buy, for example, new paperwhite 11th or 12th does it affect you budget?
I am asking how is it for an average salary.
Thanks!

Ive been looking for a new kindle and I've got my eyes set on the matcha green paper white.
Theres one with ads and one without.
Would the ads interrupt reading or is it just I'll see recommendations?

I'm new to Kindle, I got it for Libby and NetGalley, so I'm not very familiar with eBooks outside those services. There's a specific book I want (Hellions by Julia Elliott) that isn't available on Libby or Project Gutenberg. Are there other places to find free or really cheap eBooks?
UPDATE: thank you everyone for the replies and great tips!! My partner actually was able to find me a PDF so I got the book! Very happy to have all these new resources, too. Thanks again!

I’m almost ashamed to write this! My cousin lent me her physical copy of The God of the Woods, and I was so excited to read it over vacation. The book didn’t have a slow start, but I still found myself making very slow progress.
I missed all the luxuries of the Kindle! I missed bringing it to lunch with me because the physical book was just too bulky. I missed swimming laps with my lower body while resting my upper body on a raft and reading—my ultimate summer activity.
The biggest issue, though, was that it impeded my ability to fall back asleep. I occasionally wake up in the middle of the night, and reading is a great way to lull myself back to sleep instead of mentally spiraling or scrolling on my phone. Because I sleep with my partner, I can’t turn on a light to read. Instead, I ended up reaching for my phone, staying awake for hours longer than I should have, and feeling unproductive and guilty.
I ended up biting the bullet and paying more than $15+ for the Kindle edition of The God of the Woods while already possessing the physical copy... and I'm so much happier!
