Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 3, 2026

Happy Thursday! It's our first Recap of September! And it's surprisingly feeling like September with the weather getting a little brisker! I'll take it! Let's see what's going on in r/help and around Reddit!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • The site was having a moment on Tuesday where things weren't working properly for a bit. The Reddit Status Page was updated to reflect this and RedditStatusBot made posts in r/help, r/bugs, and r/modsupport. Good bot!

  • There is an experiment on the home feed where you will see a "For You" and a "Following" tab. (Hold on! Keep reading! lol) The For You feed has subreddit recommendations. The Following feed is just your subscriptions. When this experiment was run before, it did not remember your selection. But thanks to all of the constructive feedback that was left in these Recaps that was shared with the team in charge, this version remembers your selection! Set it and forget it! Thank you to everyone who took the time to yell at me leave feedback. The team listened! You were heard! Thank you.

  • If you are in the For You/Following experiment, the For You feed will not have a sort option. The Following feed will have Best and New. Some of you have left feedback that you want the Hot feed to return and I have shared that feedback with the team and they are looking into that.

  • You do not have to use the For You feed if you don't want to. Just switch over to the Following feed and be done with it. It's really easy! You just tap once! How great is that?!

  • Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Happy to pass along feedback about any of this.

  • On Tuesday, we made this post to remind users with an .edu email address to change it to a personal email that they will always have access to, since a lot of .edu addresses are locked up as soon as you are no longer with that school.

  • Weekly reminder/warning that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.35.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [iOS] Some users are stilllosing their place in comment threads after they've closed the app or their phone has shut off. This was in last week's Bug Round Up. The fix is still in the works!

  • [iOS] In dark mode, the text on the Achievements panel may not be visible on profile pages. Fix should be ready to go soon. The workaround is to use light mode instead of dark mode. It should show up there.

  • [Android/iOS] Continuing to investigate login and general authentication issues that some users on the apps have experienced. More updates should be coming soon!

  • [All platforms] The brief outage mentioned above caused some backend errors that included some moderation services, media uploads in chat and posts, and search. But those should have been fixed when the outage was over.

  • [All platforms] Still looking into some issues around subreddit bans that popped up this week.

  • BUG FIX [All platforms] There was a brief thing where choosing a saved response would occasionally cause the removal comment to fail to post. This was caused by a different change that was rolled back, so this should be fixed at this time!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,290 posts. That's up 176 posts from the 1,114 that we had last week.

  • 3,792 comments. That's down 316 comments from the 4,108 we had last week.

  • 909k views. That's down about 300k views from the 1.2m -ish views we had last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - REMEMBER THE HUMAN

Reddit is a great place, populated by humans! Yes, humans! When replying to other users, please remember that there is a human on the other side of that keyboard. You'll get your point across much more effectively if you don't resort to yelling and personal shots. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing! But please try to do so in a respectful way. You may be surprised at how much better your point is received if it's delivered with a little dignity and kindness.

Admin/Dev responded My feed is almost all recommended posts now

All of a sudden, my feed today is almost all recommended posts and it's awful. There's 1-2 posts that I'm subscribed to, then 4 recommended posts. We need to be able to opt out of recommended posts, they're just spam.

Hi,

My upvote/downvote system is on the left side all of a sudden which sucks since i’m righthanded. How can I change this back?

Desktop Ever since downtime a few days ago, Reddit on Safari has been unusable

Safari on Mac is very, very slow to render Reddit pages, and usually needs to be opened up in a new tab to actually load. Started after the downtime of Reddit earlier this week. PLEASE FIX THIS!

Access Locked account, needed to change associated email to change password but not receiving verification email

My other account (I'd rather not share the username publicly) was locked as a security precaution so I tried to reset my password. As I had lost access to the associated email, I changed it for one I have access to (from the profile page, entering new email and password) but I haven't received the verification email.

It's been over an hour. I already checked my spam folder and Reddit status shows no technical issues. I can't seem to change my email from old Reddit.

I've tried contacting support through many channels but I haven't found a way to speak with a human about this, hence this post.

How do I resolve this issue?

When subs have these notes about posting, it obstructs the text box. Even when I try to edit, I still can't even get to my post! This design change is absolutely terrible. Any help admins??

Desktop Image formatting? (Desktop)

I can't seem to

I can't seem to make a post where only the image appears in feed, and the body text appears bellow the image when you click on it.

The text appears above the image in the feed when I make an image post and the image doesn't appear in feed when I make a text post and add the image to the body like in this post.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Desktop Profile accidentally changed to 18+, turned it off, getting server errors & locked profile. [UK](Desktop)

Accidentally made profile 18+. Went to immediately turn it back off, with the disclaimer. Settings show it 'off'. Everytime I click top-right avatar for menu, I get "We encountered a server error" red banner. My profile picture has been erased, which I've had for around 14 years (which I'd like back if possible). My profile still seems to act as though it's 18+.

In the UK. Reddit compliance with OSA requires age verification. I do not wish to complete age verification as UK OSA mechanisms are rife with cybersecurity issues and data breaches (E.g Discord - which uses Persona, the very one that Reddit uses).

Noticed that u/TheOpusCroakus helped some people ~1 year ago in another thread. Hoping this can be rectified šŸ™

Profile Please help, Not able to change number and can't dm anyone.

Hey I wanted to change my phone number since I don't have this phone number anymore. Whenever I try to change my numbers it sends an OTP to the old one as well as to new one. Now I don't have access to old number so what am I supposed to do? Same with linking account with Google it sends otp to old number before linking. Also I am not able to send dm to anyone for past 1 month. Like there is no chat option showing with them.

Posting How do I post polls on the mobile Reddit website on my IOS phone?

for context, I don't have the app and purely use Reddits mobile site. I am on an IOS phone. though, upon trying to make polls on Reddits on my phone i don't get an option to even in desktop view, so I am a bit confused on how I am able to make polls. I also tried using "old.reddit.com" though it only gives me the option link and text post for some reason. help?

Posting Why do my comments show only one view?

My comments only show one view and one upvote. The comments are in active posts. It seems like too much of a coincidence for all my comments to only have been viewed once. What is going on?

r/help 12h ago

Profile I am on an iPhone. I was a Reddit member for at least 4 years and tonight I got an inbox message from Reddit saying I needed to change my password. Now my account r/SpoiledNickie is gone.

Please help. I had important conversations that I have lost. :(

Posting Is there a limit to how many posts a person can make?

I thought it was to repeat posts as long as the community has no rule for original posts only and the content is relevant to the subreddit. For example, if I wanted to post something about retirement planning would it be ok for me to post in the various retirement and personal finance subreddits?

Posting Hey, I'm fairly new to reddit. I tried posting in a subreddit but it instantly gets deleted with a note (in the picture) which gives me no help for what I did wrong. I'm a bit worried that I'll get any consequences if that happens too often. Anyone can help me out?

Profile Recovering deleted account

Hi is there a way to restore a recently deleted Reddit account? Thanks in advance.

r/help 6h ago

Profile I can't look up my own posts or comments.

(My account name is u/PJ-The-Awesome; adding it because that's apparently a requirement)

I used to be able to search my own account for the posts and comments that I made, but now, no matter what I look up, even when I know that they're comments/posts that I made, it always comes up completely empty.

Is this supposed to happen? Is this happening to anybody else And if possible, how can I resolve it?

Mobile/App [Android] Why does the Reddit app crunch up comments like this?

Instead of letting the thread continue by "restarting" it, if keeps on squishing the comments.

Access I can't login my account with the correct email and password

I have one main Reddit
u/South_Highway_3784 , but today when I login on PC, I found my account was logged out, so I tried to login. But when I filled in the correct username/email and password, the system said that "invalid username(email) or password". So I reset my password and tried to login with the new password, the same error happened again!

I've already tried everything I can think of to rule out the issue:

  1. Switched browsers: same problem.
  2. Tried old Reddit: same problem.
  3. Cleared all previous data: same problem.
  4. Requested a login link sent to my email: but I never received it (I can receive password reset emails, though.)

Really need help, I have nothing idea I can thought of now
