Lithgow Kit Fal using surplus and plastic mags. When magazine is in and bolt is pulled back the bolt totally goes over the cartridge. To chamber a round, you'd basically have to press the bottom of the mag upwards towards the chamber and hold while chambering a round them immediately goes back to not feeding once mag is left alone. No issues with feeding and extracting other than that.

So, I bought this FAL at a gun show for $1400. It came with 4 surplus magazines and a hard case. I’m not an FAL expert, but I believe it’s an Austrian parts kit. I took it apart, and it’s an all-matching-parts kit with an original Austrian-marked barrel based on the markings and crest, built on an Imbel receiver. I'm aware Imbel is the receiver you'd want in a build. I’m just not an expert on FAL parts kits. I ordered the correct dust cover and flash hider for it to return it to its original style. There are no markings to indicate the builder but whoever did build it, did an excellent job. It functions flawlessly, and cosmetically needs new bluing just to prevent rusting. I'm assuming based on internet photos of Austrian rifles the current furniture is correct. Thanks!

Unfortunately, whoever soldered my tapco ban era brake really took their job seriously decades ago at DSA. I opted to have the original steyr barrel cut and re-threaded rather than chance it and screwing up the barrel heat treat.
Now, the big question; should I spend the $700+ and para it?
I really would love to find a belgium/austrian wood stock with the swivel sling, but whatever of these stocks I can find online are going to be in need of restoration or part of a $1000+ parts kit. It currently has an izzy stock.

In the firearms section of Reddit, I posted a thread about taking a Belgian family shooting for the first time. I don't see a way to share it here, other than a link.
Mods, is there a better way to share the story in this area? I'm guessing that FN-FAL fans will want to know about this event.
See it here:

I got an SA58 used from gunbroker and got the gas system dialed in and it was working great. I swapped out the flash hider, pistol grip, and dust cover and now I'm noticing it fails to feed sometimes, especially around the end of the magazine. I also noticed my brass has been coming out dented (I don't mind it, but I'm not sure if this could give any clues about what's wrong). It is the same ammo and I have tried to use more gun oil and tried adjusting the gas system to vent more gas into the gun to cycle the ammo. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it so it cycles properly?

My state restricts semi autos to 5 rounds for hunting. Magazines would have to be “permanently” converted and with the price and availability of original FAL mags I’d prefer to just purchase some 5 round magazines. I know DSA makes them and I’ve signed up for the restock notifications but haven’t seen anything in months.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if there is a source of magazines that I’m just missing.
(Pic for attention)

It’s a grilled caprese with fresh basil and tomato, also a DSA fal with eotech3x9 and the dot

Anyone able to tell me which AMRS mount model this is? Also any idea what these are going for these days?

Anyone got experience with the dsa B.R.O. picked one up on sale and was wondering about how decent they are. Have a ta47 acog on it right now but kinda liked the trilux reptile for not breaking bank. Plus the acog really belongs back on a colt like where I found it

Stopped by local gun store today and found this. I am not very familiar with FALs but always wanted to add one to my collection. What confused me was the complete lack of any stamps/markings that would help identify the origin of this gun. It’s obviously a Coonan receiver but I am still unsure about the rest of the build. The only visible markings were a lone serial number on the right side, and a faint arrow shaped marking behind the disassembly lever.

I was thinking about trying to mount an optic on my imbel. Not the biggest fan of irons. Should I just leave it alone? Any recommendations?

u/kitchen_minimum_8696 is right, I should've posted a picture with magazines. Reddit wouldn't let me add a picture, so I have to make a new thread to show a better picture.
Here it is, now not neutered due to lack of magazines. Battle rifles need lots of magazines. I'll send these to Birdsong and have all of them coated in Black-T soon.

This is my first FAL. It's is a metric Imbel and is ~20 years old.
I finally installed my DSA picatinny rail, with help from u/patriotik. The scope is basic and was leftover from a .22 LR project. In the future, I'll put a better scope on it. This scope is good enough to test groups at 100 yards and hit steel at 300 yards. Yes, a .308 will shoot much farther, but that is the longest distance at one of my local ranges.
Soon, I'll post pictures of the 50.63 that I'm building.

I was fixing my car last week and I walked into the hardware store for a wrench and this Century r1a1 was on the gun shelf. I have been wanting to get a dsa rifle but the prices there were double what i paid the hardware store. I know its an amalgamation of mixed parts but i dont know enough to know what i should start hunting for to make it a better rifle. My only noticeable problem is the top cover is slightly too short and leaves a gap next to the rear sight. I have the peak in the feed ramps which is the reason i agreed to buy it in the first place. Any and all advice is appreciated

This screenshot is from the 2013 game "Warface" which features both the SA58 OSW and the SA58 SPR. The SPR model in-game seems fairly accurate, but the OSW model has something strange going on with its safety selector. I have never seen a 3-position (4-position?) selector switch marked "S," "1," and "A," all on the right side of the selector switch. The "1" alone is interesting, as most FALs are marked "E" (Einzelfeuer, German for "single fire" or semi-automatic). I have seen some rare models which are marked "1" instead of "E" but those did not feature the other two markings as shown here. Maybe this model is based on a semi-automatic SA58 which replaces the "E" with "1 A,"designating the lower position as semi-automatic, and the developers simply did not know or care to model the switch after a true fully-automatic FAL?

A few months ago I picked up an opened but otherwise pristine box of G1 magazines from my LGS, all still in their paper wrap and with an original German label. My humble DSA never felt like a good match for those artifacts, so today I was fortunate to pair up the mags with an actual G1. This is a new-to-me, presumably ex-BGS, Belgian made G1 presample. I haven't shot it yet but I'm planning to rectify that this weekend.

Hello,
Anyone have one they want to part ways with? I have the short version and I'm willing to trade, pay for shipping, and throw in cash as well. It's 1 of 2 parts I need to complete my build.

The battle yet rages on.... thus is the total in accumulated adventures in the depth of the wastes.
All aside I think I've finally got a bit of direction. A few small parts are missing but I can see the light on atleast 2 fals closer to being done. I need another bolt for the 3rd to be in line as well. 3 recivers and the real fun begins.

Where else can I buy the screws and nuts for the DSA picatinny scope mount? I have part #620A-A.
I bought this scope mount many years, and many house moves ago. The small parts have been lost. DSA charges $49.25 for the screws and nuts.

Hey all question. Does a 30 round mag like this exist? A few games I play use this style mag but i only can find the basic metal mags from DSA.
This photo is from a fallout 4 mod btb.

Im a big fan of the fal but im on an E-2 budget, I plan on building an ak as its the cheapest way into a nice ak (i dont want to buy a cheap psa one as ive heard bad things) Is the fal the same way? im tempted to hop on a $890 DSA at my local gun store but id like more opinions
Also im fairly new to guns and probably living up to the junior enlisted steriotypes of spending money i dont have lmao

Had planned to build an OSW, but guess that ship has sailed. Anyone no of any sources that may still have them? I checked GB and a few other sites, no luck.
