Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!
Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.
Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.
We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions
IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

News Hidetaka Miyazaki says Elden Ring’s maidens reflect a “transient, ephemeral love” built around trust and reliance
Miyazaki says the idea is less about traditional romance and more about having someone in the world you can ultimately rely on.
He says this concept carries through characters such as the maidens in Elden Ring, describing it as a transient and ephemeral kind of love that has become a recurring motif in his games.

Humor This outfit has quickly become the pumpkin spice latte of drip.
I’ve been invading (wearing this outfit) and it’s the only thing I see any more. I invaded a group of three who were all wearing it. It’s become…basic.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this drip. Ima keep wearing it for a while, but I’m starting to feel like I’m part of a herd.

Hype every frame of this game is a painting
this is by far the most beautiful gorgeous game i have ever played, literally everywhere i turn is a sight to stand there and look at it, every angle is overwhelmingly beautiful i cant even describe how some areas of this game make me feel. (lake of rot can go to hell)

Discussion & Info Maybe I'm just a softie, but "Genuinely nice guy who doesn't get their life utterly ruined by the end of the game" is my favorite souls character archetype.

Humor Its been funny to see how situational varied the Keepsakes are after beating the game and coming back for the Tarnished Edition.
None : The "I don't need anything" option.
Crimson Amber Medallion : A decent Talisman for some extra HP for early game, until you realise you can buy it in like 5 minutes at Weeping Peninsula.
Lands Between Rune : An easy 3000 Runes for early game but also unique due to the fact that you can't get this particular Rune in the game itself, making it permanently missable if you pick the other options.
Golden Seed : An extra Flask, which just means one less Golden Seed to find to max out your Flasks when the game is loaded with them.
Fanged Imp Ashes : Having the option to summon one of the most annoying enemies of the game as your very first allies is certainly an ironic choice.
Cracked Pot : Unlike the Golden Seed that got plenty of extras, you simply remove the 3 Pots you would have buy/find in the game itself for the maximum amount of 20.
Stonesword Key : Fastest way to access Fringefolk Hero's Grave and all the goodies that await within, if you can survive long enough to grab them.
Bewitching Branch : An easy way to make some of the stronger enemies your temporary allies and the earliest mention of the mysterious Demigod that is Miquella, and the pain he will give you once you start the DLC to find him properly.
Boiled Prawn : Some tasty food to help you survive early game before you meet the man/buddy that sell them.
Shabriri's Woe : Because making your life more difficult by using a Talisman that increases enemy aggro is certainly an option, for someone that is mad, maybe mad enough to burn the whole world ...

Discussion & Info A lot of people argue who is the worst boss in the dlc but it's rakshasa hands down
Has like infinite stamina and fp. Can true combo from any of his attacks to grass cutter which has huge range which feels more than what the player has when they get the weapon. Feels like he has infinite poise and barely staggers. Constantly sprints at you since he seemingly has infinite stamina. Yeah worst boss in the game
