Hyped for the start of the season!

It's been a long 8 months... but we ride into Autzen once again. We're back with a tradition I started doing weekly on this sub last year, and it's time to do it again. Expect weekly updates every week before gameday! SCO!

For me, I can’t wait to see E-stew back on that field again.

Oregon has a really great setter this season in Volleyball, Marina Crownover adapting quickly and well.

How is everyone feeling about our LB core?

I’m personally a former college linebacker and an avid listener of “It Never Rains On This Podcast” — and both of those combined have me a bit hesitant to expect greatness from this core.

I think it’s our very clear weak link on this team - yet I’m holding out some hope that something clicks for Devon Jackson this year. Media is SO caught up in the measurability of his athleticism, we forget that these traits are truly useless if a linebacker doesn’t have good instincts, play and key diagnoses, and intangibles.

I think mixon is going to be incredibly solid — and am very curious about our nickel position - because Canady turned out to be so good.

How is everyone else feeling about this group? I truly believe that our success as national championship contenders revolves around a huge step up from them.

Has anybody read Dante’s book or gotten it for their kids? My 4-year-old has been going to games with us since he was a few weeks old and is obsessed with the Ducks, but I can’t quite make out the quality of this book from afar.

It looks like he first wrote it while he was at UCLA, then had it redone (or at least just changed the jersey on the cover) to reflect him being at Oregon, but with the subtitle still hanging around as “Mr. 4000 takes the City of Dreams,” an obvious reference to Los Angeles, I can’t tell if it actually reflects anything ABOUT Oregon or if he’s just wearing a green and yellow jersey now instead.

I also know he’s a super religious dude, and while that’s good and fine and very common on the team, that’s just not the case in our household, so I don’t know if there are any overtly religious themes in there.

Anybody got any intel?

Anyone got a prediction for the Uni drop today or tomorrow?

In practice they've been wearing the green with black O from the Big Ten championship in 2024. That leads me to believe it'll be that helmet, black jersey, green pants.

BUT I'd love if they did a green version of the black generation O jerseys with that helmet (and green pants).

I think they are only doing one or two new uniforms this like how last year we got the Grateful Dead and Nike uniforms.

Go Ducks!

With the NFL cutting down to active rosters over the weekend, 36 NFL players who played their final college football season with the Ducks will start the season on an active roster. Plus 3 players on team PUP lists, and one with an Non-Football Injury (NFI) designation.

Last year I looked at the 37 former Ducks starting the season on an NFL roster and put together a proposed depth chart, as former Ducks could theoretically make a starting 22 for the first time in my memory. Again this is players who played their final college football season with the Ducks, so guys like Thornton and Shough didn't make the list regardless of their prior contributions.

All seven draft picks made their team's active rosters this year, so that means 8 players who started the 2025 season on active rosters, aren't in that position this year. That includes Dillon Gabriel and Noah Sewell, who are on their respective team's PUP list; DJ Johnson, Jamal Hill, and Nikko Reed, who were re-signed to practice squads, and Popo Aumavae, Ugo Amadi, and Tysheem Johnson who have not yet re-signed.

Presumed Starters for their respective teams are marked with an (s). I saw some sources that predict Franklin as the 3rd WR for the Broncos and starting, but more that didn't so I excluded him. Thibs is also basically a rotational player for the Giants, but didn't get the designation.

* Johnson is a TE for the Saints, but given this squad's depth at that position I moved him back to the position he played for us. Similarly, Williams is a safety for the packers, but probably serves this squad better at Nickel.

Analysis

The positions of strength/depth are QB, TE and Offensive and Defensive lines. I love that those are the quality players the school has been putting into the NFL. It's also pretty incredible that the team once known for offense has so many starters on the front and back ends of NFL defenses.

Players getting long in the tooth by NFL standards are Mariota, Armstead, Buckner, and Mundt. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them look toward retirement in the coming years. But next year should be a deep Draft Class for the Ducks.
