Just rewatched The Doctor’s Wife (S6:E4) and there's so much I missed before.

Neil Gaiman writing it and Michael Sheen voicing House instantly made me think of Good Omens.

I also noticed the Doctor says the Corsair was “herself a couple of times”. Is this the first explicit mention that Time Lords can change gender?

Any other fun facts or behind-the-scenes bits from this episode?

DOCTOR WHO: THE TARDIS

Doctor Who has been travelling through time and space for over six decades, from William Hartnell in 1963 right through to Ncuti Gatwa today.

Rather than focusing on one Doctor, one episode or one era, this display is a celebration of the whole wonderful thing.

At the centre is, obviously, the TARDIS.

Rather than sitting quietly on a street corner, it’s shown hurtling through the Time Vortex, surrounded by all the colour, energy and general chaos that comes with travelling somewhere that might be Tuesday, ancient Rome, the far future or the literal end of the universe.

And because a trip through the Time Vortex apparently isn’t dangerous enough, it’s flanked by two of the Doctor’s most iconic enemies.

The Daleks, because you simply cannot celebrate Doctor Who without the universe’s angriest pepper pots turning up somewhere, and the Weeping Angels, because monsters that move the second you stop looking at them are about as terrifying as it gets.

i was a huge fan of the show when i was a kid up until the end of tennant's run, i was incredibly excited back then for matt smith's doctor but when the first episode come out something just didn't work for me and i dropped off the show a few episodes in. i still regularly rewatch the first four seasons with the intent of carrying on with the 11th doctor but something always stops me from carrying on after the first few episodes, i just can't seem to get into him. currently on another rewatch of the eccleston and tennant era and i was wondering if i should just keep pushing through with smith's doctor once i get there. will it eventually grip me or could it just be that he's not for me? the whole smith and capaldi era is almost completely unknown to me, i know that people love them and that there are a lot of great episodes

I’m not sure if there’s a specific label for it. But in the classic and new series, there was a trope in which some kind of alien force or intelligence had secretly possessed someone’s body, usually a spaceship crewman, and usually for the means of entering a base undetected so that it can invade.

The best classic series example of this that I can think of off the top of my head is Noah from The Ark in Space. Another is Sorenson from Planet of Evil. Maybe even Tegan in Kinda and Snakedance.

In the modern series, we had some of this too. There was Toby from The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, Corwin from 42, Anita from Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Sky from Midnight, but definitely 100% Maggie from The Waters of Mars. Tasha Lem from The Time of the Doctor.

It’s an established trope, one which has been tried and tested over the years. But what makes it so compelling? Why do we see it time and again?

There’s something so simple about it. But it never becomes predictable, at least I don’t think it does.

Im doing a Tardis/doctor cosplay and I don’t know if it’s recognizable :( I’m fairly new to cosplaying so any advice would be appreciated ;p

Currently half way through Jo Martin’s circuit breaker novel and I have to say it’s very touching and so difficult to put down! Wanted to give the lady some praise! Well done Jo!!!

This is mainly me wanting to just put into practice something i’ve spent theorising since i was a kid and using knowledge the show gives us to try and solve some questions the episode with. So in case anyone is curious, I’m going to break down the entirety of the events turn left creates, starting directly with season 3.

I’ll be going through each episode in order, breaking down how the lack of The Doctor either prevented an issue, leaves a plot hole or creates an issue.

Episode 1: Smith & Jones

As shown directly in the events of Turn Left, due to The Doctor not having a presence there, The Judoon still end up taking the hospital to the moon in search for their criminal. The Doctor being unable to give his blood by baiting her into drinking it, the Judoon take longer, eventually starving people of oxygen. This results in the deaths of the following people:

Martha Jones
Sarah Jane Smith
Clyde Langer
Maria Jackson
Luke Smith

Sarah Jane Smith, Luke, Clyde and Maria end up giving their lives in order to disable the MRI machine set to fry the earth.

Episode 2: The Shakespeare Code.

This is the first one I cannot offer an answer for, maybe I’m just not all that familiar with this episode. However once again, the lack of The Doctor is a direct result of the end of everything. We know The Carrionite trio had already arrived in England before the TARDIS even landed, as shown pre intro. The Episode itself set the stakes of the end of the universe if The Carrionite Swarm was to pass through using the globe theatre to amplify the power of words.

The only real way i could devise a solution to this, would be if Peter from the mad house regained his mind and was able to somehow stop the performance of Loves Labour Lost Pt 2. Either that, or somehow have the knowledge to channel words himself to send them back.

Episode 3: Gridlock

This one is pretty simple to break down. No Doctor, No Martha. No Martha meaning she was never taken for access to the fast track route in New Earth. This means the two characters we meet in Martha’s Perspective of the episode continued travelling in an endless circle and their child is eventually born.

No Doctor means the face of boe was never able to part his last secret, but we can assume with his million years of life, he eventually figured out a way to free the people trapped in the tunnels with the help of Novis Hame and gave his last life for them.

Episode 4 & 5 Daleks in Manhattan & Evolution of The Daleks.

This one comes across both simple and complex in my mind and parts of that i can’t quite fully answer.

We know that the Daleks were taking humans from Hooverville whilst using The Empire State building to take the power of the solar flare to awaken the Human Dalek hybrid race. However, we also know they needed The Doctor for this, granted Dalek Sek who became more human and emotional wanted The Doctor the help retain their full emotion rather than only having hatred.

We also know that without The Doctor, no one was able to get in the way of the lightning strike.

I’m going to go with a theory for solving this one and say Dalek Sek retained his human emotion without the help of The Doctor, used himself as the gene template and was later killed for it by tainting Dalek “purity”. The Dalek Human hybrids turned on their “masters” and killed them both except for Dalek Caan. Dalek Caan kills the hybrid race and uses Emergency Temporal Shift to continue surviving.

Episode 6: The Lazarus Experiment.

Once again, another quick and simple breakdown which also ties into the three part finale. Trish (Martha’s Sister) never got the job working for him, due to no Harold Saxon, therefore her family had no reason to attend to the venue, we can also leave this down to the fact they were grieving over the loss of Martha.

We also know without Harold Saxon, Professor Lazarus was never given the funding to build his machine therefore the events never happened.

Episode 7: 42.

We can leave this one down to simple explanation too, No Doctor, no one lived. They crew harvested the living sun for fuel and the ship went into lockdown, the “burn with me” infection spread throughout the ship, killing off the crew one by one and the ship eventually falls into the sun, even if they did manage to reach the front of the ship, they would not have known to dump the sun particles within the fuel and the ships engines would not have started, as seen in the episode.

Episode 8 & 9: Human Nature & The Family of Blood.

Another simple explanation which wasn’t in the show, The Family of Blood needed The Doctor to increase their life spans because they were dying. Without his presence we can safely assume The Family got lost in time and eventually starved to death. The lack of The Doctor would also result in the death of Tim Latimer in World War 1 due to him not having the Fob Watch telling him when to evade the bombs falling.

Episode 10: Blink.

Now this one, is my personal favourite in season 3 to dissect fully. We know the angels existed before The Doctor and his arrival with Martha where they were sent back to 1969. We can assume that DI Billy Shipton was never sent back in time because he did not find the TARDIS and The Weeping Angels never targeted him to get to it. We can also assume the timeline of Kathy Nightingale remains in tact to which she was sent back in time to Hull where she later got married and had a child, that child then had her grandson Larry Nightingale.

This can now go one of two ways. Larry delivers the letter and Sally freaks out upon reading it, never further investigating the house or she was sent back in time alongside Kathy to later die of Old Age.

We can assume (this is speculation) that the angels remained on the property for a few more decades assuming no one else was sent back in time before they themselves cease to exist due to not feeding on the TARDIS for food or being able to send anyone back.

Episode 11, 12 & 13: Utopia, The Sound of Drums & Last of the Time Lords.

This is pretty simple, once again No Doctor, No TARDIS. Professor Yana is still in possession of the Fob Watch but is unaware of it due to the perception filter which Martha breaks towards the end of the episode.

Without The Doctor, the people remaining in the silo are unable to use the rocket and one of two things happen, either The Future Kind eventually overwhelms the guards leading to their deaths, or they eventually starve/die of old age.

Professor Yana is unable to regenerate upon the time of his death due to being in human form thanks to Time Lord tech and dies just like anyone else, making the events of The Sound of Drums & Last of the Time Lords never happen.

Extra: We can assume that during the events of The Sarah Jane Adventures, Captain Jack’s Torchwood stepped in to handle them after the death of Sarah Jane & her friends.

If this has already been posted by someone else in the almost 20 years since this episode aired, i’ll be n very sad but oh well, it was fun to speculate.

Why have Season 25 and Season 7 been announced with a few weeks of each other when they usually take 6 months?

I've been looking but I can't seem to find the context of this "Monster Doctor" figure from the Titans blond box series.

So I finished series 1 and am now starting series 2 and each time he brings her home she is around a month later. Why can't he just bring her back to when he found her so her mother doesn't worry?
